  • LYDIA DEAN, OR WAS LYDIA DEEN? WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU? YOUR LITTLE COUSIN USE TO LIVE DOWN MY STREET. YOUR AUNT WAS NAMED TOTSY. WE USE TO SING THIS SONG, ALONG WITH A LOT OF OTHER SONGS BACK IN THE 70'S. YOU LOANED ME SOME OF YOUR COOL CLOTHES, AND LIFE CHANGED! WE HAD THE BEST OF FUN BACK IN THE DAY!

  • メリサ・マンチェスターの伸びやかなソウルフルな歌声と愛すべきメロディー、"ミッドナイト・ブルー"~私の70年代のひとときを想う!

  • 6 dislikes. How is even 1 possible. Such a beautiful song. Shame on them..

  • メリサ・マンチェスターのBESTトラック"MIDNIGHT BLUE"~後半のヴォーカル・アレンジが(^v^)イイ!

  • Whatever happened to her?

  • i love this...................

  • my fav of all times One moe mountain to climb

  • Melissa hit #6 in Billboard, 8-9-75. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Shalom, Melissa!

  • So beautiful.

  • For me, the Lyrics of this song, are what appeals to our emotions, and our "hopes" of re-igniting a "love" that once was lovely, but now has faded! Most of us have had this experience/wish/or hope! Melissa rekindles our own emotions and hopes or memories of such hopes beautifully with this song!

Life has taught me that one can hope to revive a relationship, but it takes "two willing spirits" to make that become a reality!

  • good video but the 20 second delay before the song starts is bizarre ...

  • Dear joevs21001, I have heard the same rumor that either Paul Williams are some other songwriter wrote this song. Back in the day, I knew Melissa very well and she sang some of my songs. But when Melissa sings Midnight Blue..................well she just makes it her own regardless of who wrote it.

  • メリサ・マンチェスターの熱唱代表作、ミッドナイト・ブルー

  • Did Paul Williams write this for Melissa Manchester? I saw in the video a picture of Paul and Melissa together. A lot of people don't know that Paul Williams is an incredible composer and song writer writing a LOT of hits for singers and groups in the 1970's.

  • @joevs21001 Melissa Manchester wrote this song with Carole Bayer Sager.

  • @DCOL OK Thanks for the info. This is an incredible song. I used to listen to it often when I was in High School while "parked" with my girlfriend (LOL). It was a great time in my life.

  • Does anyone know who this sang the orignal version for my mum?

  • This song stirs compassion, emotion, sentiments, hope, love for past and present. It hints of a wonderfull relationship that while time has past, the bond of the love and understanding still remain. A person is deeply troubled, and being alone knows not where to turn, where to go. A slight hope shimmers, not so much in the present, but back in the past to someone who has so many times brought peace to your soul. While vunerable and uncertain, you are assured it will fine -for one more time

  • This may be her best song.

  • WOW --- This is rare. A site that oozes maturity, compassion, love and care. Not sure how I got here --- but I think I know why. I must use this site as a nightlight while I sleep. To bask in this glow during slumber, I know only good things can come about. Bless all of yu.

  • @MrVideogreg I love this song, it makes me want to cry. I've asked people before, but does anyone know why the song is called "Midnight Blue"? In all these years, I've never understood that.

  • @moonrice555 It's not so much the title, but the the song does stir up the emotions,. I've personally tied these emotions to the title. So separating the emotions, and in my humble opinion: Most people at night are removed from all external "noise" and left with themselves to "think". When the mind has this time , you are slapped by problems and reality previous ignored --- until now. Thus, by MIDNIGHT you're dealing with the dreaded BLUES .

  • @MrVideogreg Thanks, that's a good explanation. I'm not usually good at deciphering songs.

  • it is a lovely piece of art and I do love it....have been there and it is soo god painful, i really don't want to go there anymore...God bless the ones that are there and hope they keep the loved ones or the ones they think theyi're in love with in their hearts...love them forever and ever...love you all

  • LOVE! x

  • Such a great vocalist performing her May 1975 smash hit. Melissa was originally a back-up vocalist for her friend, Bette Midler. Manchester studied with Paul Simon at The University School of the Arts in the early 1970's...

  • This is my favorite song of hers!! Beautiful!!

  • Comment removed

  • A real Diva! Been hearing her song from my childhood.

  • Classic song - great single from great 1975 LP - please someone post "Party Music" from that same LP. We use Melissa's original & the Pat Lundi version as warmup records all the time - thank you for posting "Midnight Blue" - DAVEDJ

  • Melissa wrote the main song for the movie "For Colored Girls" out in theaters now (sung by Leona Lewis). It's good and let's hope it gets her an oscar nomination!

  • my dad loves it and now so do I... ty

  • this is a awesome song.very soothing..

  • Gorgeous woman with an amazing voice. I remember this song belting out of my mothers alarm clock when I was a little kid. I Loved it then and still do. Great talent is timeless.

  • Beautiful Song and so many memories for me since I got to do this song in the Gold Show we use to do at Camp Lejeune NC many years ago!

  • She as as beautiful now, as are her songs, now as when they came out. Most people have a thier own "Midnight Blue" I do.

  • I was in El Paso as a young manin the 70's and she was a true inspiration!

  • Countless time spent lying on the lime green shag carpet staring at the ceiling listening to this album. The 70's were pretty fantastic.

  • @Willowtable And you survived the 70's!

  • @Willowtable you too huh?mine was blue

  • @devilfan1965 Cool ~☼ = )

  • @Willowtable This woman is GORGEOUS! I remember her when I was a mere teen! (Born 1962; I am 49 now.) I saw her on shows when they ORIGINALLY aired. Loved her then; love her now!

  • @LonzaLJohnsonFarkas I agree. That beauty comes from deep within. She's got a lovely light that beams. OH gosh thanks for commenting..you brought me back here again to hear this song. *chills.

Cheers to another 40 something friend!! = ))

  • This album (Rhapsody Music?) was one of my favorites back in the 70's. I especially love 'This Lady's Not Home Today' from this album. I can't find it here on YT... : (

  • I remember this song - either summer of 1975 or 1976!! I thought it was the greatest song back then, and it brings back some awesome memories now! Thanks for posting it. I was only 10 or 11 when it came out,

  • she's so talented...

  • amazing musician....

  • Reminds me of a great night in Livingston, with 2 of my best friends!

  • @alabamacrimsonpride Livingston NJ?

  • @rmmann1 No, Livingston, AL...hence the crimson pride! LOL

  • @alabamacrimsonpride Haha, okay! It was funny, because I was looking for this song today because I was thinking about this guy in NJ who sang it to me once. I used to hang out in Livingston NJ.

  • @rmmann1 Wonder where your guy is now, right? My friends and I saw her in concert in Livingston (AL)...WAY back in the day. We had a great night together.

  • @alabamacrimsonpride He's on a farm in Missouri. Went from a horny young coot to a horny old coot, that's all that's changed! And location. Are you as surprised as I am about how few hits this song has gotten?

  • @rmmann1 I love it...horny old coot (lol)! I've recently reconnected with the friends who were there with me about 35 years ago. To my knowledge, neither (one male and one female) is an old coot! Yes, I am surprised that it hasn't received more hits. I suppose it's up to us to spread the word to the younger generation! Oh, I'd advise you to stay away from your old coot;-)

  • @alabamacrimsonpride Haha, after 35 years the first thing he said to me was, "Hi Hiney! Why donchya come on out here and **** me?" A real charmer! I didn't go, haha.

  • I met Melissa at a Musicland yearly convention in Alexandria, Minnesota back in the early 70's. My mouth just wouldn't work. I was mesmerized. Have always loved her.

  • This is one of the most beautiful and intelligent pop ballads ever. With her wonderfully charateristic voice this captures all the senses that leaves most other songs stranded on the runway. This song and Ms Manchester really are the business. Thank you for this xx

  • Sugar Pie,

Everytime I hear this song I am tempted to search my jacket pocket for your knickers.

Love you and have a great day.

    SP

  • Reminds me of the 'skating wrink' days... wow; "couples skate only"...lol

  • this woman makes barbra sound like a piker. she has more heart in her little finger than streisand has in her whole body. what a spirit!

  • Haven't we both got better things to do

(MIDNIGHT BLUE) Even the simple things become rough, haven't we had enough, and i think we can make it,one more time, if we try,one more time for all the old times, needing me now is something i could use (MIDNIGHT BLUES) Wouldn't you give your hand to a friend,Maybe it's not the end, if we try.

I think we can make it,one more time,

    Smile & Peace

  • hmmm nice song, I remember willy corrales.

  • @breezco No, it was written by Carole Bayer Sager, whose work I don't normally care for. But this record has always been a big favorite of mine.

  • what a powerful song, and songstress

the image of her and my girl Bette together took my way back..

    much appreciation my friend..

  • wow what a great talent. brings bck memories

  • Not only is Ms Manchester an incredibly beautiful woman....but she has one of the best voices in the business. This song is one my all time favorites of hers. What a talent! I appreciate you so very much sharing this gem with us! :)

  • you are absolutly right

  • @JubalCalif AGREED! ... Hugs, God BLESS and Happy New Year!

  • @LonzaLJohnsonFarkas

THANKS so much Lonza! Same to you! Since you're a Melissa Manchester fan, it's OBVIOUS you're a person of good taste, rare refinement & keen intelligence! :) May you & your loved ones experience a New Year where you're ALWAYS surrounded by love, peace, joy & prosperity! CHEERS! :-)

  • @JubalCalif You are too KIND! ... Yes, I have RESPECT for the "late greats"! ... I have FOUR animals whose names say it ALL! ... I have a DOG named "Jolson" and a CAT named "Allie". (Al Jolson; he sang "Mamie" before I was even BORN! LOL) Also, TWO more cats; one named "Skipper" and one named "Gilligan". ... Good night, sleep well and, guess what?! HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS! (Message me ANYtime, my friend!) ... Lonza.

  • This song reminds me of my love BB and a few late night rifts. Even before the song she would say, "It can wait till the morning." Good memories of her love now gone. Here's to you BB.

  • this was my first record bought for me by my uncle because I was singing it in the car and later for everyone in the living room of my grandmother's house.. at 5 years old....indescribable...

  • melissa has been with me for years....my first persian cat was named melissa

i love her she has all that a performer can give....she comes to san fran for xmas times

    love her

  • I'm a 61yr old ex outlaw Biker (yeah I said outlaw Her song would make me cry thaT comes from A Broken heart that I too prefer

  • remember melissa was a backup singer for bette midler

  • believe it or not, she was my first concert experience. i went with my mom and afterwards we were interviewed. it was fun. ah, the memories!

  • Love the lyrics...very heartfelt and beautifully done!

  • I only need to hear the first few notes before the tears begin to flow...Thank you Melissa for putting the emotions to song so soulfully!! This song was popular when I lost my first true love. So many parallels. I feel this is a tribute to a couple who have mutually come to the end of their relationship, knowing it was over but spent one last night together. It happened almost exactly that way with us.

On a happier note - After 25 years I called her. We both "Think of each other as friends."

  • Outstanding! Not only a great song from the 70's but a great song for all times.

  • Awesome! 5****! Thanks for post fairfieldtheatre!

  • Funny i live 5 blocks where she is performing in Ffld , Ct and did not even knew she was going to be there , but i stumbled on to this video , great song that brings back memories

  • This song is fabulous.. Im a cold hearted person but this brings me back when I was a child when everything is fabulous..

  • i know what you mean, but let your heart be not troubled nor let it be afraid.

i'm 60 this year and the election, the family that's taking residence gives me a slight hope like i had when Pres. Kennedy got ass. it seems like after that everything went to, where ever "things" go and it's been 50 years

man, to feel that little ray of hope again when Pres. Elect Obama was elected. Ya know what i mean?

  • Actually I dont because that ray of hope was hillary to me. Obama is just an inexperienced newbie who wont amount to much but its good you got some hope from him

  • What a performer!

  • God what a voice! I think she could sing the Mickey Mouse song and it would probably go Platinum.

  • I love this song, so haunting and beautifully sung. Reminds me of old times. Whatever happened to her?

  • thanks for this...i hung out with her in the late 70's....a truly wonderful woman! gorgeous voice!

  • what is she doing now a days?

  • excellent song

  • I'm going to see here this week in Sonama CA...can't wait to see here...Melissa is the best!!!
