gofyerself, geddy lee is one of the things that makes rush so unique. his voice really cant compare to any other singer, and that makes them really awesome. that, and the incredible bass, crazy guitar riffs and the unmatchable drumming make rush one of the best things to come out of Canada.

If you understood anything about musical composition and lyrical writing, you would understand exactly what Rush's songs were about. They have amazing rhythmic changes that not a lot of people can copy. Anybody can write a song that's straight ahead, but Rush brought their music to another level. And Getty Lee gets less credit than he deserves. He has a high pitched voice, so what? So did a lot of bands that were great. For a 3 piece band, they're still better than anything you could ever be.

it's an allusion to simon garfunkel's 'sound of silence'. the original lyrics are 'and echoed in the sounds of silence' and the ones in spirit of radio 'and echoes in the sounds of salesmen'. the song is about sellout musicians who change their sound just to become more mainstream.

Get an open mind to different music. And some of these guys are right, but they didn't really express it nicely. Rush uses a variety of extremely difficult time frames and rhythms that are extremely tough to duplicate. And Neil Peart's lyrics express deep philosophical thinking in humanistic, abstract, and even politics. The true messages may be tough to figure out, but if you look at them hard enough you can obtain the true meaning.

My favorite Rush song. I think Peart is better than ever. He's in his 50s and he can still out-drum anyone half his age. Saw them at Red Rocks this summer - AWESOME. Peart is a musical genius.
