I've done it both ways and the recoil feels the same. It's funny he says Russians shoot like that but all the pictures I've seen show them shooting by holding the handguard.
....If you're gonna buy and AK in 5.45 or 5.56. Putting a scope on a 7.62 AK is silly, as you'll be lucky to hit anything with decent accuracy past 300 yards.
checkout thier website when u get a chance its a great site lots of AK's the AK-101 that im getting has an actual russian reciever and a full sidefolder buttstock for parajumps and it will go great with the assualt vest from russia that i bought
The Muzzle Brake is the device at the end of the barrel of the weapon that helps to reduce felt recoil and give the shooter more controlability over the weapon on full-auto or rapid fire.
Does the handguard have a heat shield in it? The reasons why Ak's get very hot many times is the fact that there's no heatshield in the handguard, the same problems happened to the g36 and xm8, but was fixed with an aluminum heatshield.
Most of us run an AK for a few mags, then set it back in a rack. We wear gloves. On many of the original (non-U.S.) forends, it's reinforced with a steel pin bridge that gets very hot after burst fire. Some don't see that flush mounted pin in the forend and get hurt. I have only seen an aluminum heat shield in some of the U.S. forends.
I'm the guy operating the camera, you can't see me. I'm sorry Joe rubbed you the wrong way. Was it because he was so nicely outfitted, or because he had an AK74? Perhaps because he forgot the number of parts on a Bulgarian muzzle brake.
Mostly out of jealosy seince he got to shoot such a sexy beast of a weapon. it didnt really bother me all that much but it can be anoying somtimes when people try to throw in a russian accent when pronouncing a gun or somthing, no reason to get snipy
You can buy a fully-automatic weapon by filling out a special Form 4 through the BATFE, submitting fingerprints in triplicate, gaining approval from the local chief of police, and submitting a 1x1" photo of your head and shoulders. Then, you must pay the price for the weapon (AK's generally run for $20,000 legally), pay the $200 tax to the BATFE, and then go to your local Class III dealer to pick up your weapon.
I had a Romanian 5.45x39 from J&G Sales slap my finger. I had a friend install an adjustable double stage trigger group and it was gone. That was the only SA trigger slap I've felt, out of my several SA AK's...
The guy here, if I remember right, has a post 86 dealer sample. You need to be a dealer selling AK's to get one. It somewhat complicated. See if you can research a transfer of an NFA weapon.
How do I get AK's? That's a whole discussion on it's own. The shoot and I live in the state of Arizona, U.S.A. If you're not prohibited from owning a firearm, you can own a full auto if you have the money to afford them and go through the NFA transfer process.
A good AK is accurate enough for the intermediate distances it was designed for. It's not a sniper, but I can hit Tannertie sized targets fine at 70 yards- however 30 feet is more fun. The AK was built to loose tolerances- (so says Mikhail Kalashnikov) for reliability. This produces a less than tack driving weapon, but you can pour sand and mud into it, never clean it and the thing keeps shooting. I think it was Russian production that made it loose, but never the less, still a great carbine.
Sorry, mate it's 5.45 x 39mm, and it is true that it penetrates more. Reports in Afghan said that since the bullet has higher velocity than 5.56 x 45mm(M16s rounds) and 7.62 x 39mm(AK47 rounds), It spins, and how should I say this? It is like when these bullets hit human flesh, it moves deeper and cause bigger wound that the own caused by 5.56 x 45 and 7.62 x 39. The Afghan Mujahiddeen called this thing, the Satan Bullet or the "Inhumane" bullet.
how did you get that story brother, it is good to know that ak-74 is better than both m-16 and ak-47, a new weapon for the mujahideen to replicate, lol
If 7.62 x 39mm Soviet round can penetrate through body armour, U.S. Marine in Iraq and Afghanistan and Jewish Bastard in Palestine would be dead by now killed by our comrades with these weapon!!!! LOL xDD
my friend i mean that of ak47 and it can do much damage more than the ak74 because it is bigger, unless their is something i dont understand about the bullet of the ak74
Correction, AK-74 bullet do more damage than that of AK-47. It aslo has higher initial velocity that AK-47's, making it more lethal and twice the range of AK-47. It also has a small degree to penetrate body armour. If you don't believe it, try it!
i believe you, but that doesnt sound right, becaus that means that the m16 have the same damage as ak-74 as they have the same mm or are their other factors that i dont know
Of cause they are comrade, that is why M16 5.56 x 45mm bullet can shoot about 600 meter, which is almost twice the range of AK-47 7.62 x 39mm, Which is just around 290 meter till 300 meter. So technically, since AK-74 bullet is almost identical to M16 bullet, it also has a range around 560 meter till 590 meter.
Even if you're right about penatration,(which you're not to put it bluntly) They still have to hit the Marine without getting shot themselves. That's gonna be hard to do.
Although, some say that "bigger bullets are lethal", they were completely wrong about it (except for machine bullet, .50 cal or Cannon or mortar, 125mm or 82mm). In small are industry, the "lethalness" of a bullet is depend on the how they were made and how they were used.....
The smaller (or longer) the bullet, the higher the peneration power.
You're talking about the bullet tumble. It more of a hit or miss on deadliness on the tumbling since it's unpredictable as to where the round will exit. In the end the 7.62x39 will do more damage on a soft target, but 5.45x39.5 was designed to penetrate body armor of 1980 NATO infantry.

lol,my brother ,this is real, i dont mean that it can stop a bullet but measured with many other things around us it is taugh, do you know that in islamic dualing there were no thrusting moves because it would require a lot of strength to penetrate the human flesh and then pull the sword back
Hey man, a sword is a really, (FUC**NG) heavy weapon!! And it is moved by HUMAN HANDS!!!! Therefore, it moved at very slow velocity and that is why a lot of energy is required!!!!
lol, my brother you couldnt be more mistaken, you make swords look as if they had the weight of 50 kg,you are wrong look about it , i read this many times over and over again and in many places, i'm not making this up
Nowdays, instead of swords, we have guns... guns are better because tey have longer range and "stronger", which means they shoot bullet that moves at the speed of >500m/s!!!!!
AK-74's 5.45 x 39mm moves at nearly 900m/s!!!
Man for a muslim, you really need to learn more about Physics, especially the one from one of Muslims Scientis, if I am not mistaken, the Famous late Al-Khazim.
i know physics well brother, wat i said about swords had nothing to do with the fact that bullets are better or that swords are better, i just wanted to show you that human flesh is strong to a certain degree, more than many poeple would think.
the real caliber of 5.45x39 is 5.6mm. It is marked as 5.45 because in Russia caliber is the distance between opposite lands in the barrel. So, the real caliber of the russian bullet always will be higher than it's official name.
Make your own for personal use! Lots of receivers out there. Get the parts kits before all the (now banned) barrels are gone. And vote pro-gun to reverse the ATF and further gun fun. Repeal the 1934 National Firearms Act! Remember one day we'll call this the "good" gun years.
i know i got contacts at Arsenal inc,KVAR,Militarygunsupply the only thing that is not available is the Ip29 rifle scope due to an ATF import ban same with the AKS-74U assualt rifle it does not meet ATF standards unless u have a class 3 license but im currently working on purchasing the AK-74 and an AK-101 from an Auction both guns were made by Arsenal Inc
Arsenal Sucks, I bought an SLR105 from them and the gas piston was all messed up, the AK because a bolt-pull-action rifle. I contacted the customer service and the rep was rude and told me off.
I thought Peter G. Kokalis thought Arsenal was a good AK. I'll have to check my back issues of SGN. Sorry you had a bad experience, who puts together a better parts kit?
I agree i asked about any new AK's like the AK100 Series they had and they arent even gonna produce em anymore to me thats bullshit im a huge fan of the AK and id love to own a New AK100 Series but they are just assholes so i stoped doin business with em aswell
Thanx, I would appreciate it. As a fellow collector and shooter, It would be interesting to know if it is a converted Bulgarian, as the Russian ones are dam hard to get in Class 3. They are about identical with a plum colored stock like mine.
Oh, i see now... I understood what was you talking about. Damn, maan! They dont hold a magazine! they hold AK's body near the magazine, because this place is closer to the center of gravity. But not magazine like you did!!! Lol Your grip make it even harder :)
Anyway its not standard. Standard is to hold it there it is supposed to be held by designer of the weapon. :)
Well come on, let's go next one is in two weeks for just artillery. Then in October it's the full Big Sandy shoot. I'll give you a tour. Stop the guy driving around in a US Jeep, Vietnam era. I even got some fireworks to shoot.
I don't know how to account for this discrepancy. Perhaps I'm always wearing gloves, or never running multiple magazines, but the AK's I've fired, have not had hot receivers at the magazine well.
I use the US synthetic forends with a internal steel shield and no exposed pin to burn on. Also, once you snap in an good AK magazine, unlike many loose fitting SMG's and other problematic weapons, the AK becomes strong and rigid. I found after Joe's demo I almost always fire an AK like this. I will speak to other's in the AK field and see if I can get some reference on this practice.
I can not quote any source for the magazine grip practice, but it feels very natural. I have fired many AK's and I disagree with your observations. The receiver doesn't get hot unless you're going through MANY magazines enough to glow the barrel. In fact most AK's with the old wood forends have a pin that runs under the barrel, and touches it. It's exposed in the forend. THIS gets hot with just a couple of mags.
The sight is a 1P29, I have one next to me here.. and it's definatly uncomfortable to use like you said, with the left eye. I have pictures of it in use by Russian forces and all use the right eye.
Haha, man once you are on video, you never know where it's gonna turn up....somebody just emailed me this link tonight...I haven't seen this video in 5 years. Re: the hand positioning, I think this is more of an optional shooting method vs. strict practice..I have been to Russia 3 times since this video, and indeed over half of the troops I have had the pleasure of shooting with (specifically, spetsnaz GRU, and various other combat experienced personnel) regularly shoot hands on mag. CONTINUED>
I agree that in some guns, using the mag as a hand hold is a bad idea as you can affect rifle function, but generally not an on AK. If you are in a mad fire-fight and the receiver area gets so hot you can't touch it, then hell, use the handgaurds...but those get damn hot too! I think it is a great hand hold and keeps the gun close and easy to swing in and out of ready position. CONTINUED>
I argued with somebody recently on another U-tube video that I am on and the guy insisted it was absolutely wrong.... wow. You guys on the other hand, are very cordial, and certainly better informed! As far as the 1P29 comments.... you all are correct, the cams I was thinking of belonged to other Russian optics such as the 1PN58 and 1PN51 which I also had at the shoot, but didn't make a video of until the next year's shoot there. There is even an RPG cam....but not for the 29. CONTINUED>
Finally, I am severely right handed, and severely left eye dominant, hence the cross eyed shooting... but I definitely should have used the right eye for the video...it's not like I was worried about my downrange accuracy... I do however find the scope very pleasing to use with either eye, and with the 5.45's low recoil. I can just bounce the inverted needle on the target all day long. What a blast. Oh, and if I may correct myself again, it is pronounced Tritium, not Tritrium! CONTINUED>

Sorry you had a bad experience, who puts together a better parts kit?

i get parts kits from K-Vardotcom

picure 4 years ago
Thanx, I would appreciate it. As a fellow collector and shooter, It would be interesting to know if it is a converted Bulgarian, as the Russian ones are dam hard to get in Class 3. They are about identical with a plum colored stock like mine.
ronellis61 4 years ago
try joeken for class 3 licenses or redsoldier for uniforms and vests
Motherfucker5000 4 years ago
Cool video, right up my alley. Is the 74 a Bulgarian or Russian?
ronellis61 4 years ago
He says Russian, but I can not confirm. If I see him at the Phoenix SAR show I'll ask him.

Wow that second weapon they fired had an incredible muzzle flash.
massltca 4 years ago
Oh, i see now... I understood what was you talking about. Damn, maan! They dont hold a magazine! they hold AK's body near the magazine, because this place is closer to the center of gravity. But not magazine like you did!!! Lol Your grip make it even harder :)
Anyway its not standard. Standard is to hold it there it is supposed to be held by designer of the weapon. :)

They teach their soldier to shoot with hands on magazine???!!! Ha haaaa! Such a Buulshiiit! :)))

Well come on, let's go next one is in two weeks for just artillery. Then in October it's the full Big Sandy shoot. I'll give you a tour. Stop the guy driving around in a US Jeep, Vietnam era. I even got some fireworks to shoot.
rob762x51 4 years ago
I don't know how to account for this discrepancy. Perhaps I'm always wearing gloves, or never running multiple magazines, but the AK's I've fired, have not had hot receivers at the magazine well.
rob762x51 4 years ago
I use the US synthetic forends with a internal steel shield and no exposed pin to burn on. Also, once you snap in an good AK magazine, unlike many loose fitting SMG's and other problematic weapons, the AK becomes strong and rigid. I found after Joe's demo I almost always fire an AK like this. I will speak to other's in the AK field and see if I can get some reference on this practice.
rob762x51 4 years ago

CONTINUED>
chamberlin1 4 years ago

CONTINUED>
chamberlin1 4 years ago
Finally, I am severely right handed, and severely left eye dominant, hence the cross eyed shooting... but I definitely should have used the right eye for the video...it's not like I was worried about my downrange accuracy... I do however find the scope very pleasing to use with either eye, and with the 5.45's low recoil. I can just bounce the inverted needle on the target all day long. What a blast. Oh, and if I may correct myself again, it is pronounced Tritium, not Tritrium! CONTINUED>

He is wrong about the 1P29 though, it has cams for the Ak-74, RPK-74 and PKM, not the SVD :)

Really? Another excellent comment. If I see him at this years S.A.R. Show in Phoenix, I'll mention it to him.

ill stink my Chinese made AKs just as good if not better then russian nice video also that krink was fucking badass
bushmasterM4A2 4 years ago
I want more of these videos that was great. I didn't know you were supposed to use your left eye on combloc scopes.
spetsnaz5 4 years ago
Very cool. Being the AK buff that he his, it'd be good for him to retrain his eyes to set the right as dominant.
tafino 4 years ago
Excellent comment. No one so far has called attention to the fact he shifted to his left- and this video had been out since 2002.
rob762x51 4 years ago
Were did u get pure russian made AK?????????????
DinoPal 4 years ago
One way would be a special request for a post 1986 dealer sample. This
would be non transferable to civilians. Another would be to install a
Russian 74 parts kit on a transferable 30 cal receiver, and list the
caliber change to the NFA registry. It's still all Russian parts. There
really isn't that much to an AK.
