just to let you guys know, the victim never pointed a gun directly at anybody, it was just pussies calling the police and over exaggerating what he was doing when walking down the street with his guns which is not illegal by the way.
As I read these comments, it confirms the mentality and attitude that I had suspected of the people in Issaquah
I really don't think the gunmans motive was to kill innocent people. He had the opportunity to kill at least six of my friends when he passed them between the Rainier trail and Clark Elementary.
just goes to show how mess up people are that this can go down anywhere it not that where not safe it the people around you u have to be careful of cuz u never know when someone might snap and get hold of a gun or weapon and turn on people
---But I would like to add that I am VERY glad that everybody (except the man with the crazy eyes menacing people with guns) is alright. This could have been a bloodbath.
It seems odd that the gunman shot so many times, pointed his gun at people, and managed to not hit anybody. At all. In all that time. I suspect his guns were empty or shooting blanks or he was only shooting in the air. Perhaps he was seeking suicide by cop. I didn't hear a thing----we live in the mountains, though we did get caught in traffic before realizing what was happening.
@chainshot09. YOU ARE AN IDIOT. I live right next to the Highschool.literally. The shooter was moving south between Clark and I.H.S. and was firing relentlessly. There was little league going on across the parking lot and if the Sheriffs didn't cock hammers within 15 seconds, children would have been murdered. So to write that the law enforcement lit up this weirdo with "too many bullets" is a very nice way of calling yourself a dipshit. Its simple; dont shoot at people and you won't get shot.
Yes, the perpetrator was shooting, but not really aiming at anyone and didn't harm anyone. I would venture to say that by listening to the volume of fire by Law Enforcement the citizens of Issaquah had alot more to fear from the shooting done by the police than by the perpetrator. The amount of gunfire required to kill one suspect shows the need for some serious marksmanship training and a disregard for public safety on the part of a local yokel Law Enforcement agency.
@mchill2 The points you made are well taken. I would like to think that the officers were positioned in such way as to take into account the trajectory of their fire. That takes time, and time was something the situation did not present. I do not claim to be an expert in the application of violence, but I am familiar with it as a US Army veteran and service with a well known PMC.
@chainshot09 I'm sure the cops were positioned in such a way that their geometry of fires would minimize ricochet and collateral damage to surrounding structures. Are you an expert in the application of violence? Studies have shown that a human being can take an amazing amount of rounds to even vital areas including the brain and continue to function. Low grain weight 5.56mm bullets tend to punch neat holes at close range rather than dissipate into the target.
@mchill2 As a resident of Issaquah my perception of the local PD is one of a bunch of body armoured cowboys who spend 95% of their time harassing motorists with minor traffic infractions to enrich the city coffers. Then to suddenly have them respond to such a serious situation with what in my view is a massive over-application of deadly force is just scary.
@chainshot09 Over-application? What would be the proper amount of rounds fired in your mind? Accuracy drops to about 35% when adrenaline is pumping. The shooter dropped to the prone making himself a smaller target and was pointing his rifle at the cops. He could have had body armor on under his clothes, been high on PCP or meth any number of variables could have been present. There were a lot of kids in the area and the cops didn't have the luxury of waiting him out. Clean kill.
@chainshot09 The man repeatedly fired at Cops. I was there, and we were getting shot at. We were the ones who called the Police. He was warned, but refused to surrender.
I was driving to & then at the Issaquah library while this was all going down -- interesting to see it form your perspective. I heard the interval of shots too...the news is reporting it incorrectly.
Why isn"t the media reporting what this video clearly shows was a barrage of gunfire interrupted by periods of no shots being heard. My husband was a couple blocks away and I could here the gunfire on the phone.
Can't wait to hear more facts about what set this guy off. Also, those were not local cops, helicopter or swat teams. We don't have that much firepower in our local dept. Probably from the county sherrifs dept.
What are we looking at? There's a white building (or truck?) on the right, and a dark shed-like building on the left. Are we looking at the football field? Or what?
My vote? He was looking to be killed, just not have it labled a "suicide". He could've easily killed people. He didn't, he just threatened them. Then he threatened the police (again, didn't even attempt to shoot them though).
@tandom I am one of the workers at the range. We were corresponding with the police throughout the whole shooting. We were in the middle of a hunters safety class when we received their first call, asking us to cease all fire. We immediately shut the range down and about a minute later is when the first shots were fired at the school...
@ImpactVS Thanks for posting this...it's scary that crazy people can threaten people is this way, and it is amazing that nobody else was hurt but the gunman. That's an awful lot of shots though, makes me wonder what was going on at the scene that so many shots were required to bring down a lone nutjob. Looks like the PI picked up your vid and linked to it on their story, you are a real citizen journalist! Lucky [or UNLUCKY!] to be on scene w/your camera.
I was stuck inside the Issaquah Community Center which went on lock down. We were all looking out the windows but could only see policemen, police cars, helicopters and finally an ambulance. God bless the police for taking this guy out. Just hope he;s not a native american like John T. WIlliams or we'll never hear the end of this.
@kimzef Fuck you you fucking moron....I can tell from your post that you are a fucking right wing twit....John Williams was an un-armed man, this guy was firing shots at people near two schools, and for you to conflate the two shows exactly how pathetic and small the right wing nuts have become...I hope your "god" blesses you....straight to hell....oh yeah, did I tell you to fuck off yet? Burn in hell you fucking bitch.
I'm in La Conner - wow, scary stuff. They weren't taking any chances on him shooting anyone, were they? But it seems strange he pointed his rifle at people but didn't shoot them. Suicide by cop?
There were two gunmen. I talked to an officer on the scene and he said it was only one. I do believe it was 2 though, one got shot about 25 minutes into the firefight and the other is in custody. No bystanders or policemen were injured.
Wow. Sounds like a war in Afghanistan and Iraq. You hear gunshots going off every minute. The shooter must be a wacko. Otherwise, he's really disturbed about something.
@fordchick79 yeah, found that out after the full news report had come in. some reports said there was two though, like one that was affiliated with the gunman so thats why I said that.
that is bad isnt it
