Drummond sounds too much like a disney villain to me, to be honest. I grew up with his voice actor, before Funimation started using their in-house talent for the dubs, and I immediately liked Sabat's voice better. Drummond is a GREAT voice actor, but for Vegeta, I like Sabat's subtlety a little better. They're both top notch, though, I think.
You really need to be more respectful of other people's hard work. Every single one of your comparison voice videos has been stolen basically. To be honest, I think Sabat's voice was perfect for Vegeta. Drummond's voice did sound evil, yes, but could any of you really see Drummond being the voice of Vegeta throughout the DBZ series? To me, Chris's voice was more down-to-earth and made him see more bad-ass than evil (how he ended up by the end of the buu saga.)
Drummond was perfect for exactly what Vegeta was in the Saiyan and Namek sagas: an inmature, sadistic and younger Vegeta. Chris Sabat makes Vegeta sound older and more experienced, which Vegeta was by the time Sabat's version was widely accepted.
Although Sabat has improved by A LOT throughout the years, he's still not up to par with Drummond. People only prefer Sabat just because they're more used to him; which I can understand.
@zerodood Don't make it seem like we all like Sabat just for that reason. Some of us like him because we honestly think he's better. I don't like Drummond's voice past the saiyan saga. It sounds too wimpy when vegeta grows bigger.
@Friendpersonkid I'm assuming you watched DBZ on Toonami back in the day, right? Ocean Studios (with Drummond's performance) only aired the Saiyan saga and some of the Namek saga. The battle between Goku and the Ginyus is when Funimation took over and introduced Sabat. The reason why you prefer Drummond in the early episodes and Sabat in the later episodes is because that's what you're used to. When you get used to a certain order, you start to hate giving other things a try

When Sabat speaks you can sense his arrogance and pride. Those are Vegeta's main characteristics. The ocean's voices for the ginyu force were, FFS, brilliant. Exactly how a bunch of badasses in an elite force ought to sound like; the funi's voices, how ever, were total shitty, especially Jeice's and Ginyu's. Nowhere near those given to them on the ocean dub.

I just watched the buu saga on the ocean dub; and i disagree with everyone saying vegeta's funimation voice sounds better from the cell saga onwards. Vegeta sounds much more intense on the ocean dub voice than the husky funimation one, which makes it better. Generally, ocean dub episodes, as i've come to realize today, are better to watch than funimation ones. Includes music/filler, except one thing that ocean dub's has abit of 'military' theme in it, which fucks it up a little.
The Ocean dub to me fits the saiyan and freiza sagas. But when Trunks comes around they all sound older and stronger with the funimation dub. So both win.
i perfer drummond for vegeta, sabat's voice is good but it was just too pompous and sounded too similar to piccolo's (i know he does both of them) i like brain's the best just my opinion

Drummond was definitely the better Vegeta voice. The only good voices Funi had were Cell, the Androids, Trunks, Supreme Kai, and Babidi. Ocean did much better for every other character in the show.
No affence man but most of the world believe's that funimations dub was better for the most part as i said for example krillen, vegeta and goku sound so much better but for some people just cant accept change i guess.
drummond was good for the saiyan saga, but when funimation took over, they fitted much more than ocean. Funimation dub is better, why do you think funimation came out with dragonball z kai and ocean still hasnt. Plus funimation has more releases that sold more.
When it comes to the English dub, I prefer Drummond in the Saiyan saga and half the Frieza saga, then Sabat in the Cell through Buu Saga. That's how I remember it watching DBZ on Toonami.

I just watched the buu saga on the ocean dub; and i disagree with everyone saying vegeta's funimation voice sounds better from the cell saga onwards. Vegeta sounds much more intense on the ocean dub voice than the husky funimation one, which makes it better. Generally, ocean dub episodes, as i've come to realize today, are better to watch than funimation ones. Includes music/filler, except one thing that ocean dub's has abit of 'military' theme in it, which fucks it up a little.

The Ocean dub to me fits the saiyan and freiza sagas. But when Trunks comes around they all sound older and stronger with the funimation dub. So both win.

Brian Drummond gives Vegeta a younger-sounding, more sinister voice, and Sabat an older, fuller voice. I watched CN where they used Ocean for the Saiyan Saga into Namek and Funi from then on, so it sort of worked out.

Drummond was definitely the better Vegeta voice. The only good voices Funi had were Cell, the Androids, Trunks, Supreme Kai, and Babidi. Ocean did much better for every other character in the show.

drummond was good for the saiyan saga, but when funimation took over, they fitted much more than ocean. Funimation dub is better, why do you think funimation came out with dragonball z kai and ocean still hasnt. Plus funimation has more releases that sold more.

When it comes to the English dub, I prefer Drummond in the Saiyan saga and half the Frieza saga, then Sabat in the Cell through Buu Saga. That's how I remember it watching DBZ on Toonami.

@AFBN WOW, Just WOW. He voices so many and yet quality of those voices are crap. Ocean's voice talent is far superior than this crap. I believe you need to get your ears checked, because you like crap, you are crap. Sabat's Vegeta is WAY more terrible than Drummonds. Before you post at least know something about the subject. You probably grew up with Funi's dubs rather than Ocean's. I still remember when i heard Sabat's Vegeta for the first time and made me want to puke all over my TV.

@thejerr1 you are very funny Ocean dub lacks so much quality its makes DBZ a comedy. The intense scenes lose value and the voices don't fit the character. Yes I grew up with Funimation because the networks realized it was a better production but I also saw ocean dub on VHS which was noticeably bad, not to mention Ocean ruined some of the scripts from the Japanese version. Ocean dub is pretty much a cheap imitation. Funimation>Ocean

Look obviously you're biased toward the ocean dub thats fine whatever makes you happy, but the voices don't fit the characters. And just because Drummond has had other secondary roles doesn't mean he's more successful. Schemmel has starred in shows outside of anime as well as doing video games, the same also goes for Sabat.
