do you realise how stupid it is to undertake cars coming up to a possible left-hand turn (at 2:22 in the video)? what if the taxi turned left? my guess is you'd probably have blamed him for not seeing you. and cyclists wonder why they get hit off...
why was she walking on the road in the first place when the lights were on green and cars were driving down the road. By the way for people such as americans, this is a pelican crossing, vehicles have the right of way until the traffic lights turn red, pedestrians press a button which then says 'WAIT' and eventually the traffic lights turn red, and a pedestrian crossing light turns green, otherwise they shouldn't cross unless the road is clear
She should have looked granted, but you should also read the highway code and learn to use the roads, just because youdon't need a licence for a cycle don't make it alright to ignore basic road safety.
I'm guessing that was a helmet cam, ifso you did not do nearly enough blind spot checks and when aproaching a crossing even if the lights are green your slow and be prepared to stop.
Pedestrians have right of way always. over cucles, motorcycles, cars, the lot
samatention... if by "here"" you mean the United States.. its clearly not, they are on the LEFT side of the road.... and Stewartx5, computer generated???? are you kidding? why would someone even care to putting that much effort into doing that for biking helmet cam video that was probaly made for fun.
Since she stopped and looked right you while waiting for you to pass, how is she stupid? Anyway, is this fake? The female pedestrian at 2:34 looks (leg movements, arm movements, etc) very much like an computer generated character out of some computer game.
No watch again, she stepped into the road woihout looking , she only looked right because I yelled at her if I had not done so,she would have contined a bit further, probably with disasterous results.
The problem here is that crossing should be a zerbra crossing. Pedestrians should be favoured over car/bikes and not made to wait, as frequently, like here, they don't anyway. We have a set of pedestrian lights that take literally 4 minutes to change - noone is going to wait that long.
That's one problem. But a more interesting one is, given that everyone is selfish, and possibly dim, how can we arrange our laws to protect everyone? Don't set up a method of crossing the road that makes pedestrians wait in favour of cars and bikes you'll cut down on this kind of stupidity. She's happy, because she can cross the road, and you're happy because you won't be put in danger by impatient pedestrians.
got your link of rcuk! Daft cow. Why would you walk out into the road when you can clearly see cars going in both directions! I sometimes rely on other cars being there as pedestrians take more notice of them than us cyclists.......just be careful undertaking those cars too! I have had a few turn in on me!
Its usually safe to undertake along this stretch because of the bus lane, although it interupts for small sections in parts,I normaly dont undertake unless I feel safe ,It all about risk assesment at the time
Traffic looks a bit insane. How fast are the cars driving? here where i live driving in town is 20mph and for the girl, lucky it wasn't a car as she was not even watching at all, but i wonder how drivers enter the traffic flow if there are not stop lights, also what do the wavy lines mean?
I drive a car too,but as little as possible, cyclists dont give me a problem when in the car its fellow motorist who are the idiots, when I cycle round town it actually the cars that get in MY way as I am faster generally,I feel sorry for them fuming and fustrated as fast fit cyclists leave them in the dust in a slow moving queue breathng in the exhaust of the car in front, cars are overused in these parts and its them that are taking up the road not cyclists, fuck cars and rip off fuel prices ...
Well, judging from the video, I can understand. There seems to be alot of slow traffic where you live, and riding a bike seems like it would be better. At least you were paying attention when the girl tried crossing.
The pedestrian at 2:34 looks totally artificial to me, like a character out of the game Sims. This is especially strange since the people behind her on the sidewalk to the far left look entirely normal.
On a flatish road like in the vid I cruise along at about 25 to 30 mph if there is no strong headwind, but my overall average is less, usually about 15 to 22 mph depending on how many stops I do or how hilly it is.
Haha.

besides a good chauffeur knows there are idiots in the traffic .
so you got to think ahead and keep in mind ,everyone can fuck up.
limit your speed is the first step to quik reaction.
ImmortalUniverse 1 year ago
well i see you driving like an idiot . so no wonder you almost hit her.
first you drive to fast .
second you dont keep enough distance at some points ,so the car in front is blocking the view.
third you drive on a bus lane ,i dont know if thats forbidden ,but over here it is.
fourth it is not a good street to pass a car.
i mean ,just slow down ,and you wont have those issues
ImmortalUniverse 1 year ago
I'm surprised she didn't hear you from miles away, your gears are very noisy.

It looked like a marked cross walk to me. Here she would have had the right way. I am not sure what your laws are where you live.

There is no such thing as Jaywalking in the U.K Pedestrians have the right of way as soon as they put a foot on the road.

@toweronepower
Pedestrians have priority, not a right of way.

You should have been slowing down in pedestrian busy areas in the first place.

Well, I guess now you know how motorists feel when cyclists take up the road.
