@xDtimmy41 Funnily enough, most people don't realise Eau Rouge is only the left hand kink at the bottom of the hill. The uphill section is part of Raidillon.
This Maggots-Becketts-Chapel sequence is right up there with the best corners in F1. The drivers love it and that is why the new US GP track will have a remake of this complex. Eau Rouge and 130R are the best corners but this is the best complex of corners along with Istanbul's Turn 8 (the 4 left handers) and the new Circuit of the Americas will also have a remake of that.
@bfmv11kyle LMFAO g means g-forces? Are you a jedi or is that the dark side of the force? lol.... sorry just had to bust your chops cuz if you actually knew G means Gravity you would have been able to explain it.
I've never been to Spa so I can't really comment much on Eau Rouge, but I have spent many a Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon in early July standing on the spectator bank on the outside of Maggots/Becketts being wowed by this spectacle!
Not anymore, I don't think. Cars handle too well nowadays. Eau Rouge isn't what it used to be for the same reason - it's taken flat-out.
Corners that still catch people out are ones like the final chicane at Montreal, Tabac corner at Monaco, Turn 10 at Singapore, and the exit of the tunnel at Monaco - the sudden camber change and decline makes the rear of the car very light, throwing unwary drivers into the wall. Silverstone is too open and has too many run-off areas to be very challenging.
Best corners in F1 in my opinion. Eau Rouge(1998 Spa version). Pouhon(2004 Spa with gravel yet). 130R(2002 Suzuka version). S-turns in Suzuka all the way to degner one... Also the first spoon corner in Suzuka. Nuff said! :)
Eau de Rouge, Radillion (Frenzensaid 99 they drove with the old v10 325 km/h with the new engines 2011 they drove ca. 305 km/h), the first turn after the start line (stove?) in silverstone ( 6,0 g-force reportedly Button droves with this honda), and the 130 R turn in suzuka, but they changed the turn they made it not so tight like in the ´90, they couldn´t do it flat, today it goes absolutely flat. But same matter the Eau de Rouge, Back in the seventies the Eau de Rouge was very tighter th. yet
Eau Rouge is the best courner ever and will be the best forever. It's possible future circuits with amazing turns, but like Eau Rouge it's impossible. Some people may don't like Eau Rouge, but it won't decide if Eau Rouge is the best courner or not.
This is a nice corner, but nothing special in my opinion. A real good corner is one where there is no room for error, like Eau Rouge. If you go off here it's just a big spin, youre not punished for your mistake.....at Eau Rouge you are. And this corner is located in a boring area, no changes in height or trees... it's nice but there are a lot of corners which are way better than this, Eau Rouge in particular. It's not that i not like it, but it's not the best corner in F1, in my opinion...
@christosswc A corner is what it is no matter what car's going through it. Just because the grip goes up on the cars themselves doesn't make the corner any less thrilling!
If anything it's even better because the G's pulled are increased. You're forgetting just how tall and steep Eau Rouge is!
If all the drivers agree that Eau Rouge is the best corner then this aint even up for debate and this video's got a stupid title....

@FPSyorkshire the fastes f1 cars are from the 2004 season the most fastest lap records are from those and the also looked better but formula1 lost his soul in the last years
the old becketts is better than this. the one where senna got a box full of neutral in 89.... eau rouge and blanchimont at spa are far better than becketts. the parabolica at monza.. not to mention the lesmo's. the list goes on

To not only take the right line through the corner(s), but to also be on the alert for any under/oversteer that might be building as you have the tyres at the absolute limit of cohesion for the entire time you're going through the complex. Whereas with Eau Rouge/Radillion, you know you can take it flat-out.
my list includes becketts, turn 8, 130r and raidillion(most people confuse it with eau rouge, while in fact eau rouge is the slight left turn before the upwards raidillion complex)
@Lattergassen that's right but radillion is more exciting to me cause it is the point where loads of negative g's build up... eau rouge is also exciting because the exit is blind..
Properly speaking, the Eau Rouge corner is only the left-hander at the bottom. The following right-hander that leads steeply uphill, which was introduced in 1939 to shortcut the original hairpin "Ancienne Douane", is called "Raidillon".
Read my lips: There's no corner like Eau Rouge.

Eau Rouge is no longer the best.
It's easily flat out in modern F1 cars with the extra grip and reduced power.

Shoryuken4u 4 months ago
@Shoryuken4u Some of the F1 drivers have said themselves it's not as challenging any more because it is flat out EASY.
While that does not make it any less punishing on their bodies, a racing driver needs the challenge as well to get the thrills.
The challenge of a quick corner where, if you overdo it, you pay the price with a big off.
Even the 130R in Japan is easy flat out nowadays.
Schumi stayed under Rubens's gearbox through it flat out and made the pass despite the decreased downforce.

Perhaps not for the drivers, but in my opinion Singapore Sling (the trio of small and bumpy apexes) at Marina Bay is a very entertaining coner

Properly speaking, the Eau Rouge corner is only the left-hander at the bottom. The following right-hander that leads steeply uphill, which was introduced in 1939 to shortcut the original hairpin "Ancienne Douane", is called "Raidillon".

Eau Rouge, Spa. Loews Hairpin, Monaco. Turn 8, Istanbul. Wall of Champions, Montreal. It's gud, but not the best
