@horsecrazy522 In my opinion he was my favorite because of the snappy release he gives over the fenes but i do agree with the pumping it's not the prettiest of pictures
I have done hunt seat for around or 7 years, my Friesan isnt as good as all the rest but he is flashy alright. I love hunt seat it shows how well a horse and rider work together even if the horse is a big animal like a friesan
My boyfriend is leasing the horse at 0:52! His name is Forever and he's AMAZING. The big black hunter before him is Chagall and he's also at my barn and I got to show him in November. They are both extremely talented horses, but I can tell you they didn't become that way overnight, a lot of hard work and training has been put into both horses and even though they may be "push-button" they aren't robots, they are horses. Nice video!!
no she does not. she has a slight natural roach that seems like it just might be her conformation. also, she is not jumping ahead and is releasing more than enough. sure, she has more of a jumper rider style, but its obviously effective. you dont need to jerk back your shoulders and over arch your back to have good eq.
he's a hunter, not an eq rider, and in the hunters the rider could be backwards for all they care as long as the horse looks good and the horse does look good. and trust me, ive seen MUCH worse... hunter riders are known for riding like that and i agree with you, it looks horrible on their part!
OMG the grey at like 1:30 or so is ridiculous! Hes stunning, he jumps his rider out of the tack because he jumps so well! Form is picture perfect.. lovee him!
Thank you for putting this together. At age 40, I just started hunt seat three months ago and am having the TIME OF MY LIFE! It's inspiring to see how these riders look one with their mounts.
sooooo? hezakeeper made the video, so if you want to make yourself a video featuring only hunters or only equitation, you go ahead! Obviously she knew is was a hunter. The disciplines are close enough that they can be featured in one video, anyways. :)
I wasn't trying to be rude, she certainly can put whatever clips in a video she wants.. the title just suggests maybe she didn't know..
And FYI Hunters and Eq are NOT close together. Hunters is a useless waste of time unless you trained the animal yourself and eq actually takes quite a bit of effort. =]
I ride hunters too... atm. You and your horses are the kind of hunters I respect, you dont go buy top notch ponies then take all the respect for winning.
But buying push button ponies and horses then going into the ring and claiming that you can ride becuase you won some hunter title? THAT is a useless waste of time.
Well thank you! I do agree with you, now that you have explained yourself. Buying push button horses and ponies that do absolutely EVERYTHING for you, is too easy. All of my horses are far from push button. I like to have something to work with a little. It teaches you to ride and have better equitation. Unlike most hunter riders that have those push button horses and ride like shiz. Much like the guy on the grey horse in my video!
Yes i admit having push-button ponie makes it easier to ride, i know a girlwith a 100,000 dollaer horse that doesnt win like anything cause even though her horse is great, she chips a lot and stuff and doesnt win that much... so you have to ride at least ok even if you have a psuh-button pony.
thats because most of the horses in here are REALLY expensive, there are no greenies shown here, this is the top level of equitation and the horses are some of the best out there
I know greenies who are that bold and fearless to the jump. And also to say that simply because those horses are expensive makes them great jumpers is a very untrue statement. I have a friend who paid $1200 for her 3'6" equitation horse and he's absolutely amazing. She got an offer for well over $10K for him several months ago--and he's still fairly green. Diamond in the rough. I'm sure some of those horses didn't start out as good as they look now.
Don't I know it!! Lol. One of my favorite mares was such a picky horse. She was completely solid to the jumps. And then last second would change her mind. There could be people, jump poles, other jumps, and she'd still go around because she didn't feel like doing what we asked--not because she was spooking or just being green/not understanding. She was our princess! She turned out amazing in the end though. Reserve Champ her first time out, and Grand Champ her 2nd time out. ;) Good little mare.
haha, the one i ride now, Chance, our his first show was actually only my third and we got reserve too =P what he tend to do the most that unseats most of his riders is he'll be like you said, really solid up to the jumps and literally a split second before he takes off will literally dart out from under you in the opposite diriction and then go FASTER and sometimes buck to he can really get you off =P he gave me whip lash last time he tried that and i couldnt ride for like 2 weeks =P
I REALLY wish I had one of these horses tho!!! I've ridden green ponies for almost 3 years now and the one I have now can't take me to the 3'6" equitation I want to do =[ he might be ABLE to do the height, but is nowhere near the quality of these!
You have a very important job if you're schooling green horses. The horses in this video didn't get that way over night. With patience and proper schooling, you're helping mold those greenies into winners! Good luck and ride safe.
lol i might of known you did you hav your own horse...i heard that board now(it used to be 850 a month for 3 lessons a week) and now its like 1050 a month with only 2 lessons a week crazy lol
Hey Amy! That grey stallion is Sir Caletto, and I was interested in using him in breeding some sporthorses. Lol, I can't believe that was him, he's got a good form over fences and the most beautiful conformation! Glad I saw this. :D:D:D
this is my favorite video on youtube i love it and i was every horse on this video, i love equitation and i am actually looking for a maclay horse !!!! my favorite horse on this video is the grey , woah that thing can jump !!
I thought Hunt Seat Equitation was just groundwork....

Borntojump12: barrel racing is not stupid. it takes as much focus, strength, skill, and horse/rider relationship as hunters or dressage
horsecrazy522 2 years ago
the guy on the dapple needs to sit back and straight, and stop pumping, but :30-1:11 look really great and flowing, controlled

What is the difference between hunter and hunter seat equestrian?
akcshelties 2 years ago
Hunters is judged on the horse, eq is judged on the rider. Basically. They're really two very different disciplines.
drakedalord 2 years ago
@drakedalord Eq is based on both horse and rider its not just the rider
dreamershavemorefun 1 year ago
Depends on if you want to just show, or jump.
charmed6057 2 years ago
ick. notice how the horses fall onto their forehand after most of the jumps.

that may be true for SOME 'greenies' but mine is quite a bit different...

Like I said the generalization that all greenies are not fearless to the jumps is a very narrow opinion.
Yours may not be fearless to the jumps yet, most of the ones I ride are very fearless to the jumps. It just depends on the horse.
