@lech1126 yup, you are right, i did mentioned i am a fresh man in this, but its been a year more since this video ^^ i've made progress in facets, now i am making silvers and gold for these stones to be a jewelry, kinda selling good too in my country, i am lucky to play the grinder as you said Mr.Lech ^^
@27simber ^^" i am sorry bout those dogs, but in my area, without those dogs to protect me while i am working, i am vulnerable to thieves and tugs .... ii apologize for them to you
@temphere11 ^^ that saw actually installed on the right side of the grinder, on the left is the diamond wheel, that table saw you mentioned is for cutting rough gems to piece and size you desire, precaution for all ("lapidarians") to this diamond saw is "0" =( nothing to protect us from face to fingers, they ask me to put on full bullet vest while using it, but i don't think that will create a smooth cuts ==" scary huh
Hey I have about 400lbs of Carnelian I dug up and would like to start doing some Lapidary work on them, I just am at a loss about the equipment. I am super strapped on cash, should I just make my own out of old grinders? Maybe a flat lap as well?
@LordAvoc hi there Avoc ^^ it is always fun to make things the hard way, it turns our brain alot rather than just using high tech equipments, yes you need some basic equipment like "grinder" if possible, have a 2 way shift from low to high speed, max speed is 1200++ but not more than that so the stone won't get burn marks ^^
a flat lap is useful for diamond cuttings and emerald cuts which need precisions and "not-so-possible" if using a grinding rotor shown in my vid,
@JackyLum Yeah I was thinking about getting a grinder and just converting it into a wet grinder, I see online there are a lot of way's to do this. I am very interested in doing precision cut's with a flat lap as well. I am going hunting for some Oregon Sunstone soon. I hope to get a good bucket full.
@LordAvoc ^^ thats a great hunting!! i wish in my country i can go hunting too, =.=" but too bad, in malaysia there is not more than crystals in the river and zero of gems in the earth, cause malaysia is not the volcanic geographic area, so there is no hard stones to collect =(
^^ anyway!! good luck Avoc!!! post some of your work to me ok ^_-
@trixera99 no, for polishing emerald you need to keep the stone wet or cool so it won't fracture or burnt, cause emerald are much softer in hardness compare to carnelians and other precious gems ^^
my dogs always barks whenever they saw me or my dad, they want to have treats and walks as we gave them, it is more like i am the slave and the dogs are the master X...D
by the way i saw alot of videos in here that china men, vietnamese and korean killing dogs for food... but all other chinese that don't kill or eat pets are blamed, i hate those killers!!
wait brother u said diamonds also. ah u can add me on ruby-marjan@hotmail.com
dear Jacky ...I am from Pakistan .i have many crystals i Find the with the Grace OF ALLAH TABArakwata3ALA .i have a rough yellow natural sapphire ,it is minimum 400 gram .just telling u . hey did u open a proper diamond mining or .any how .nice work dude. is that a dog barking behind ...?
ohh thats a mild orange Carnelian stone ^^ normally you see them in red or brownish as they are "heated" with fire, the one i made are natural non heated carnelian so it look bright ^^ thank you for commenting
^^" Lol, thanks Sandroa, actually that was the 1st time i doing it, but the real way was not like that XD, after i been to study about gemstone cut and polishing or Lapidary work, i am able to make a better stone, i'll post out a new video bout this ^^ with talking this time ofcourse XD
i am also into stone cutting, its nice to see people interested in this craft.i manage a backyard shop here in the philippines.most of my customers use onyx, mother of pearl, jade and agates as jewelry inlays.thanks for your post and hope to share know-how....
^^ you are welcome liz2jas, yup i use the felt or we call it fiber buffer at high speed but gentle contact just enough friction to shine it, using force will cause burn marks so becarefull ok ^_-
i learn this technic from Taiwan, a master in Hsin Chu area, but what yo useen in the video here was a total disaster ^_^" i don't delete this cause i want to see what kind of failure i did later on, hahahaha, now i am 70% knowing what i am doing ^_-
i use the "wax" but the hard type, you need to heat up the wax and secure between the stone and the stick together for some while as it get harden, to repease it, simply use a plier to pluck it out or use hot water ^_-

How do you get such a lovely shine? I have a big foot lapidary machine and while i can smooth and such, getting that glass like shine eludes me :(

Around 1:18, it was noticed that a small table saw was used. Out of curiosity, what precautions are taken when working as closely with a table saw?

try using shellac flakes(melted thru burning) as sticker to your stone and stick, position the stone while shellac is still hot, be careful :)
sisongr 1 year ago
@sisongr Yeah!! i do think bout that shellac flakes too sisongr
but sometimes it doesn't stick hard and long enough for the tiny stone with less shellac.... in reverse i use super glue on it ^^ thanks ya

what is the liqued you use to polish it off
liz2jas 1 year ago
@liz2jas
i used 1000 grid powder to smooth the stone piece which attached with a Super Glue on a Stick, which is fast to fasten but hard to take off
then i used Cerium Oxide or Diamond powder to shine the whole stone pieces, please do add my page in FACEBOOK for more details of the video posting ^^
