And had the headphones running up through my jacket, i don't have it overpoweringly loud, I can still hear my bike, I can still hear if someone blasts on their horn, But it's just much easier for me to do long rides with them in, However, if i was riding in a busy town, I'd probably not use them, because i'm not experienced enough as of yet, If you're going to wear ear plugs, You're already limiting what you can hear around you, The addition of music just makes it more enjoyable
I'm a new rider, and i did quite a long ride on a CG125 once, it was only 45 minutes, But for me at the time that was a long ride, after not being a rider for long.
ANd i thought about the trip, and how it was relatively boring, So i had had an idea
What i did, i had a Phone mount that would attach to a car's window, so i took off the part which the phone sits into, Put Velcro on the bottom of it, and Velcro on the empty part of my Speedo housing, And plonked it there, Plugged headphones in
@gogosor I use my smartphone loaded with music and bluetooth music to the G4 as you dont get control over tracks etc thru the 3.5 jack, I found it sounds a lot better this way too.
I don't want to listen to anything apart from the sounds of riding my bike. I do wear earplugs, they just reduce the noise level slightly, don't cut it out, quite happy with them.
Sometimes watch video clips with soundtracks that really go well, but not for me when riding.
Hi James, always, for almost 5 yrs now on my bmw gs i have my music playing, i have an auto com fitted hard wired to the bike which gos to my zumo550 satnav. all my music is from the zumo 250-300 tracks in random sequence and selected from the touch screen and all with no batteries and the music fads in and out when the satnav is working, never missed a beat in all this time, in rain snow and sun, oh and it has being fitted to two bikes before that. eric.
I have no issue with music on the bike. I've tried it, and prefer not to. Admittedly I'm fairly new to riding a bigger bike and prefer being immersed in the whole experience, wind noise and all. But, hey, as for distractions, I work on fairly complex cutting edge programming and I listen to a lot of Floyd, Hardcore Metal, Jazz, Trance etc etc all day long and manage to concentrate for hours. Do what you enjoy, and do it safely. Hope I ride as well as you one day!
Don't now but used to a few years back on my 125 only reason really I stopped was the hassle of the headphones staying in and the wires snagging sometimes but mostly bad setup, if I can get a decent mp3 player and headphones will likely start again especially for longer rides.
I never did but I want to try it out. I always use earplugs if I'm planning to go on a motorway, I'm more relaxed then as the wind noise is slightly quieter. That device you use, does it have ear buds or those little speaker thingies? What's it like when you combine music with wind noise at higher speed? Oh and if you don't mind sharing the name of that headset it would be sweet.
My two penneth... 1/Used earplugs, can still hear outside noise and get used to it. 2/Now use Scala rider G4 With music on my pan European 1100 no problem with concentration and outside noise 3/ I don't crash my car with music on either! lol 5/Deaf people ride and are aware 6/Don't use music on my V4 Tuono as the exhaust noise is a pure symphony of pleasure (check my vids) 7/ Whatever you use/don't use, if you don't concentrate, you're in danger. Hope this helps. :-)
The only music i want to hear is my engine but that's because im new to it all lol. I often wondered how many do listen to music whilst riding. Me i have only my phone and earplugs but something like you got then maybe in time i would listen to music. Yes your eyes tell you whats going on around you not your ears lol someone who's deaf is allowed to ride a bike, but the blind cannot. SIMPLES ;-)
@thatmanfromyorkshire i tried earplugs in the beginning and just hated them, wind noise at high speed is a bitch too so music is probably the best solution for me.
I tried couple of times but I don’t like it. I love to listen to the music of my engine...I find it more relaxing.

Yep Music every time, ScalaRider G4 with a 3.5 jack to the MP3 player. Never wear earplugs, the Shoei XR1100 is super quiet, even at 80 Mph :)

@jajajacol it's a scala rider G4 it has the speakers they are very good even at silly speeds. I know some people have converted the speakers to buds.

I generally have one headphone in my left ear with a podcast or a bit of decent music for long spins on quiet roads.

No, not me mate.
No music, no phone, no ear plugs.
I just want to hear the bike and the road.
If people like it, that's great. Freedom of Choice.
If someone phones, I'll check and if it's important I'll call em back :)
BTW, thanks for the Batt links, I got a 2000 mAH for a little over £5 and it works a treat!
