  • who does jay z thinks he is?i find him very disrespectful, he cud have atleast clap them rather than sitting there acting like he is da bomb,no wonder he had to come out from retirement and produce another album,he is so overrated just like his wife.

  • I thought it would be better. She can sing well but this one wasn't for her...in my opinion.

  • Amazing fantastic as always!

  • What is the shit these guys are saying below? I just wanna ask, who are they to judge and say that Christina Aguilera is not a great singer, has no technique and so on? If she wasn't all that she wouldn't be where she is, and wouldn't be considered one of the greatest voices and performar of our generation, not only by the fans but said by famous people such as Etta James and Andrea Boccelli...

  • AMAZING song!!!!

  • "Haaaaai been so many places" bad technique, bad glottal attack. Why does she make singing seem so painful? It seems almost scary, also there's several places where she is flat or sharp. Worst of all, as she ascends the scale, her throat closes shut and her notes acquire the characterist of someone choking on their tongue.

  • a cute performance...she IMITATES soul and not really a soulful singer. ...

  • The vocal gymist thing is great.

  • I love how Christina performed this. Donny Hathaway would have been proud of how she covered this song.

  • Xtina is by far the best voice of her generation!

Her tone is so bold and rich...that's so rare.

And ehr runs are so hard to do!

  • Her generations must have been extremely mediocre. Oh wait, actually yes...Britney, Jessica, Mandy...

  • Wait........Christina,Alicia,Beyonce,J-Hud,Fantasia........Each generation has awesome singers.

I agree it's not on the Pattie-Aretha,Chaka or Celine-Mariah-Whitney level but there's very talented people in the new generation.

  • Who?I'm sorry but when one said "Awesome voice" I think of Aguilera in the new generation, or Leona.

    Who is better?

  • Better instruments + Better techniques; Vanessa Amorosi, Monica Naranjo, Filippa Giordano, Shoshana Bean, etc. They all have demonstrated superb vocal range, technique and control. Far superior than those America singers you've mentioned.

  • Vanessa sound like she is screaming, her voice is so thin on those high note plus their tonal quality is way beneath An Aguilera or a Jhud.Monica has a good voice but will never be able to sound as great as Aguilera, her voice just don't have the agility.

I disagree, all they can do is singing very high in mix voice.

European (and Australian) girl can't sing half as good as American, I'm sorry.(And i'm european!)

  • What do you call agility? Be able to do a couple of runs? That's not agility, since they are done actually rather slow. Yes, Christina has a fantastic instrument, first grade instrument, but she is not a great singer since she doesn't know how to use her voice at all other than scream in a guttural growly tone. How many songs do you know by Christina that use a full 2 octave range in full voice? Only 2, "Walk away" and "Keep on singing", while all Monica's songs use on average 2 octaves or more

  • But Monica's voice don't sound half as great as Aguilera, bottom line.Aguilera has a better vibrato, a stronger tone, better projection.

And when Monica sing high she also sound very raspy/cratchy/guttural.

  • Christina has a richer tone and her middle-low voice is thicker because of her voice type. Better projection I don't know because she always sings with microphone. Monica's high belt is not guttural at all, because guttural happens when either the placement is low or the throat closes. Her notes have a ring and are open, similar to how Patti Labelle sings them, and do not show sign of true effort other than projection. Check the vid I made of her vocal range, belting up to high C in mixed voice

  • @primohomme first of all, i'm not a christina fanatic, so i'm pretty objective, but saying her vocal runs are rather slow?! i mean they are not as fast as beyonce's for example but slow?! come on...i just think that she didn't progress vocally as she should have from the moment she did stripped...her belts are strong, but i think that either she is not using her mix and doing all the high notes in pure chest which would be totally wrong or she's kinda limited in therms of range...don't know...

  • @primohomme since when do you define a good singer by range?! i mean, it's more like a good plus, but i would rather search for some other elements like tone, projection, agility, belting, head voice, coordionation, connection, fullness to the tone...

  • @svichky

And how about singing the notes of a song without straining or choking or grunting?

  • @primohomme i agree with you in a way, christina doesn't coordinate her voice well, her technique overall is not the best, which is kinda weird considering she had all the time and money in the world to improve in the past ten years...but she has a very good voice, she's very very talented and is just lacking some vocal skills that a person of her standard should know in the middle of the night...but don't agree with u about judging a singer by their range...that's just nonsense...

  • @svichky

Range alone is nothing, but knowing how to use it and being able to actually sing and not strain..that's what matters, if someone has to strain and choke and grunt and growl to get to a note...it's awful.

  • @primohomme Thank you! I have been saying this for ages. Christina's voice is so technically flawed. Not that I care much, my main issue with her is her lack of musicianship, as shown by this performance. She isn't a good interpreter or musician, thus she's not a great singer. Just a voice. Billie Holiday had like one octaves and she's one of the greatest. Having a voice is one thing, knowing what do with it and when to do what is another.

  • Vocal range, technique, and control? What about the countless other ways to judge talent?

No wonder you rag on Christina. Smart fans know she has a limited range, but that's not why they love her. They love her tone and her versatility, for example. They love her overall style and technique, but you break down every note like it's an autopsy. Not everyone judges talent that way, especially because it misses the point of music - to actually enjoy while your listening and take in the experience.

  • I do agree her tone is rich and wonderful, a beautiful tone. But a beautiful tone alone is not enough to be a great singer. How can someone be a great singer if they can't control their instrument?? There's a different between having a great instrument and being a great musician (singer). If a violinist has a stradivarius but he plays like he just started lessons, would you say he is talented? More like "he has potential".

  • Agree, I only know Shoshana but I know her voice really good and she's fantastic and soulful. :D

  • @cinqoctaves Aguilera always on point with them notes

  • She phenomenal I LOVE HER!

  • eres la mejor Christina, te amo... desde Venezuela.

  • this gurl just blows me away..........beautiful vocals........thanks herbie. thanks christina

  • This girl can BLOW!!!!! She is ridin' that melody! Absolutely can't get enough!

  • FLAWLESS!!!!!!!

  • As beautiful a vocalist as Christina Aguilera is, I thought she over did it on parts. During Hancock's piano solos there was absolutely no need for her vocals and they got a bit annoying. It was a beautiful performance but I actually prefer the studio version and that's rare for me. I usually vastly prefer live music, especially by amazing artists like Hancock and Aguilera.

  • excellent!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful song!!!

  • Herbie and Christina...amazing

    Greatest duet

    I Lov...

  • She is stunning.

  • stellar performance. <3

  • i love xtina
