@TheJanicetunes In Europe they are quite common. Skansen Kennels in California specializes in them and has for years. Has imported several European Champions for breeding purposes.
We just got a Giant in January this year. I lover her to bits. She is great with kids and is so gently when you hand feed her even if you are 12months old she is gentle.
I don't think I'll get another breed, very intelligent. Almost too much sometimes, ha, ha.
Anyway, yeah they are a handful but their intelligence and gentle nature when CALM, are a great reward.
They are both Giants now 75lbs and 85lbs. The black was a rather young puppy at the time of the video. They are 25" and 27" at the withers respectively. The Black is a male and the Salt-N-Pepper is female. We had an extreme large male 110lbs and 29". He was exceptionally large. These two are more average for the breed in size.
I always say to people wanting a Giant to be careful what you wish for because you might get it. They are a handful. They are a working dog and need to be trained. Take the energy and intelligence of your mini's and multiply by about 10 and you have a giant. They also are a dog that bonds tightly with their owner so delegating them to "outside" might be a problem. Don't mean to be negative they are great dogs but are not a lab or golden. Think of German Working Dogs and with of energy.
Her ears were very difficult. She has relative soft cartilage and her ears are long and narrow. She had help with them till she was ten months. Cato was basically done when we got him at four months. All he needed was some breath right strips to keep the tips standing up. The rest of the ear was good to go.
@chayshay13 How old are they. This is usually done when they are very young. Just a few weeks old. If they are months old, I would pass. The are plenty good looking as is. Ours were done well before we got them at 5 months for the S&P and 4 months for the black.
