I don't like martial arts that teach you to intercept blows... it will work for the occasional street fight but what's gonna happen when you fight someone who knows how to punch? His strikes will be too fast to catch.

If you do it at least for being able to defend yourself on the streets, you'll gonna need to give, even get punch or kick. Moreover it makes you harder and that's advantage..
