Nice, but there is still attention lacking with regard to the smaller caustics created by the rock face and the shore--obviously the simulation would need to be supplimented by a scripted animation to add those details.
I make guns and stuff for Gmod, you use programs such as 3DS Max and then compile them and us .QCs and LUA to tell it what the weapon does. Hammer has nothing to do with Garrys Mod modding.
I downloaded your evaluation thing. Yeah, less than 5 frames per second sucks, I feel sorry for anyone with a slightly old PC as they would be screwed if they tried to run a game powered by Leadwerks.
BTW: I got this PC at Christmas, spend extra money getting a good graphics card and enjoy a smooth 100 or so frames per second.
dude the cryengine is like several thousand dollars and this is only $150. this looks just as good as the cryengine in some places, and can look even better in others.
yea but this would work alot better than what i have right now. and i already have a "version" of cryengine. and unfortunately you really cant make you own people or guns. and i dont feel like paying thousands of dollars to get what i could get from this for only $150.
yea i know. but why cant they incorporate one into a game engine? it just doesnt make sense that you have to buy a game engine and then buy something to animate characters for the game you are going to be making.
I have the Source SDK downloaded onto my computer,if that's what you mean. And I love it. The Crytek engine has many bugs, so source is the thing for me.
Take one more look. I'm pretty sure I can see it rotating on all 3 axes. If you mean that it should move around horizontally, then you should look up the physics of waves.
i have leadwerks evaluation kit and every time i try to go into the sandbox or model modes it says its not responding is it the limitations or the pc requirements cuz i'm thinking about getting this just want to try it out
Do you think about making the waves fall over and white bubble shaders when reaching the shore.? (plus noise sfx) That would be more realistic. It's a little unnatural for waves that size to come calmly. <- You guys are top class, which is why you deserve sharp criticism. ;)
it might be improved by taking into account the normal's angle towards the camera. Looking directly at the water-surface (i.e from above) = transparent water; looking at 90 degrees = solid color (or reflect world/sky).
That's because water reflects more at larger angles.
An implementation is nicely seen in CSS, de_dust2006, ct spawn.
I made is based on camera depth, because if you go out in the middle of the ocean and look straight down, the water should not be transparent. To be more technically correct, it should probably be a combination of both depth and surface normal.
like crysis

That thing that is floating looks like a Pokemon latios or Latias. Google it and see why.

Very nice water physics, would love to see this in a full blown game!

If you can't run Crysis and STALKER, you can't run Leadwerks.
Leadwerks 3 years ago 6
I can run Crysis.
BTW: Are you suggesting that the Leadwerks engine is better than the CryEngine or that it eats your computer for nothing?
chrisybwell 3 years ago
dude the cryengine is like several thousand dollars and this is only $150. this looks just as good as the cryengine in some places, and can look even better in others.
Mittycroner 3 years ago
At least the CryEngine works and can render more than 5 frames per second.
chrisybwell 3 years ago
yea and this works too.
Mittycroner 3 years ago
Very slowly though...and it doesn't work that well.
BTW: I love how the thing on the water just moves up and down and doesn't incorporate any other axis into its movement.
chrisybwell 3 years ago

Personaly I like the Source Engine the best. It's great for shoot'em'ups like HL2. Even if it doesn't look the best,so what?

Good start - far to go. Look to crytek for clues, or the Ogre plug-ins.

It kind of looks like Crysis anyways. If it were DarkBASIC I'd say he was using a matrix.

cypher1554R 3 years ago
This is probably about as good as it can get without a more complex algorithm that would be much slower. The effect here comes at a pretty low cost.
Leadwerks 3 years ago
Understood. It's really good though. Keep it up!
