how can i upgrade my CPU frequency to 1.9GH? to play Assassins Creed, These are my CPU's Frequency: Intel(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz 1,47GHz. HOPE YOU CAN HELP! ANYONE! ^^' THX!
Fail card? He is happy and it sure smokes his X300 he had. It runs his games great at the resolution he has and with only a 300W PSU with 19 amps on 12v bout the best I could get for the cash he had. Not everyone is mode of money or has to have a 9800GTX or better to be content.
Yes fail card... it may smoke his old card but you got to consider the alternatives cards like $20 higher price range 4670 etc would of been better and still run on his psu.
Well he is happy and wanted to spend less as possible and I prefer nvidia over ATI just because the problems with drivers. I guess I could of gotten him to spend a bit more, but just wanted to make sure his PSU would hold up for the long haul.
Well, I'm still on my trusty XFX 8600GTS :D OC:ed to 1130/730 as factory settings, and I can't say that I have anything to complain about it runs just about everything I throw at it at 40+fps on really good or even maximum settings, though the most intensive game I have is probably Cod4 which I run at 1440x900 High and 2x AA ~70-90fps. So I don't think the 8600's are such bad cards, but obviously the 8600GT is whole 1500-2000 3Dmarks down from the 8600GTS, but still a reasonable card.
If it had a 550W I would have got a 9600gt or gso trust me but wanted to keep it cheap and didn't have a bunch of cash to spend he was happy thats what matters.
Buying a P4 nowadays no matter how cheap is kinda not smart you can get a cheap dual core for like 60-70 bucks that will smoke a P4 no matter what model. Remember clocks mean nothing anymore.
The 8600GT only requires around 45watts (roughly 3.75amps on 12V rail) of power. Peak output of a PCI-E expansion slot is 75watts for future reference (without additional power connectors). That card suits that system well, good selection and good video!
I was over after installing the parts and we ran the game and it looked great and ran almost perfect at max settings at decent 1280x1025 resolution. That was on his 17 in so might have to lower it a bit on the new 20 in screen.

Its a shame they discontinued production on the 8800GT's, they still got a while to go before they go obsolete
LondasGT 2 years ago
what when did they do this? there AMAZING bang for the buck, i want to go SLI too :(
i guess there is the 250 to replace it and the 9800 though.
hord 2 years ago
Closest thing to the 8800GT... I would say would be the 9600GT
LondasGT 2 years ago
isnt the 9800gt a 55nm version of the 8800gt?
hord 2 years ago
Yes mostly

johnnytheaznboss 2 years ago
9600 gso RAPES the 8600gt, 8600gt sli is slower than 9600gso. Your computer is much better :P

yeh im thinking it shuda saved up and got a 9800 gt or at least a 9600 gt, or it might be my p4 bottlenecking my video card.
johnnytheaznboss 2 years ago
Almost any newer card will be bottlenecked by a single core P4.
RickArter 2 years ago
a p4 will bottleneck with a x1950xt just to give u an idea

8600gt requires less than 5amps ..but 8600gt was a good choice, anything faster is bottleneck anyways so.. 9600gt coul've worked also.
