@MrNipperthegreat >>>---> When you get a chance visit signal 51 qroup . com and I am sure you will find some still pictures of those rigs. Sorry, I cannot be more help.
Hey, did I see "Old Myrtle" in there? Also, it is a shame when they take classic old rigs & put wails on them. For me, that ruins them. Anyways, great video. Not too often do you see those classic rigs responding anymore!
Thats not ugly dude. Thats a classic now a days. Try to respect the ones of the past that made it possible for the ones we have now. Those engines and trucks were ran and used just as hard as these ones n now. Some of the old ones i think were better!
no, i've ment that somebody said that the truck has got some old stuff on it! and i just wanted to know how he or.. you.. did recognize that it is some old stuff! :D
@amtrakseptaguy11 Honestly, some of these classic trucks were better then the modern day equivalent. There's nothing like hearing the sound of those Detroits. I love the old stuff, and that's why I watch these videos.
@DTMRM8 Why not? We had white fire trucks for years, nothing ever happened to them. I've seen orange, red, lime green, white, and baby blue fire trucks (Ellettsville Indiana). So again, why not?
That Detroit Diesel on the American LaFrance sounds fantastic, the Seagrave areal and GMC rescue trucks are cool as well, was the first truck a Pierce Arrow?
like the monarchs but i think they need some fedrals..........the, La Frances are pretty sweet my town has one like the ALF pumper fromm 82, sadly, its getting rrplaced
They retro-fitted some of the old Monarchs with Fed Q's. Check out the video response above, "Fire Engines Responding to a Fire Call". Engine 5 is putting the Q to good use. Too bad about your 82 ALF - Hope someone gets it and keeps it beautiful. BTW, thanks for the comments - They are really appreciated.
We have the usual number of fires compared to other southern cities. We have 21 engine cos. 7 hook & ladder trucks, 2 heavy rescue units, 10 medic units, 6 battalion chiefs, 2 ems supervisors, and all the other auxiliary apparatus and chief officers that a city this size has.
In my British town of 23,000 people, there are about 5 fire trucks, 2 "urban search and rescue" trucks and 1 paramedic car. Nearest bigger city is about 5 miles away (Worcester)
Actually, the first pumper was a Quality Monarch. The last Ladder was a LTI with a 109foot Aerial on a Spartan chassis. You were right about the GMC, but there was not an ALF Pioneer in this video.
Oh man there is nothing better than Monarchs I think. Wonderfully built apparatus. I hope to buy one and refurbish it, that is a dream of mine. We had some Spartan LTI's that were 75 foot mid mounts. At the station that I visited as a kid they had a 75 foot mid mount Simon-Duplex LTI Aerial that was an 87 model, and the engine was an 89 Spartan Monarch. Oh did those two run a lot, and they sounded awesome when they both made runs at the same time.
What make was the first engine and last truck? I love the LaFrance's I miss ours here in Dallas, which were powered by Detroit Diesels. That is such a wonderful sound.
The first engine (Eng 11) was a 1987 Quality Monarch on a Spartan Chassis. A large number of these rigs were purchased in a combination order with Dallas FD from Quality Fire Equipment Co. The only difference in the order was that the Dallas rigs were painted white over red and the SFD rigs were solid white. SFD personnel state that the 1987 Monarchs were the best fire engines the city ever purchased.
Yes they were. I would love to purchase one to refurbish it and keep it for a fire club. Nothing better than the sounds of a Detroit on a Monarch/Spartan Chassis, revving up down the road from the station.
Hahhaha I miss our Spartan LTI that we had at our station when I was a kid. We had it until 2003 and it was an 87 or 89 model. It was a 75 foot mid mount aerial. Didn't turn the greatest but it was a Detroit powered vehicle. So having that and the engine on a box was a really neat thing as a kid.
That truck at 00:45,,sounds like a proper truck should,,and i tbet its worth a lot of money these days,,

Zaff, Those last 2 white trucks that come in on the left, the ladder & engine, DO look like American LaFrance.

You are correct. The ALF Ladder Chief, then the Chief car and then the ALF pumper that cuts the siren when entering the shopping center.
