  • auxiliary heater - webasto.

I have same problem. First time on traffic light i thought car is burning.

On service they told me that i have to buy new which cost more then 700 EUR than i pull out fuse number 12 i think and it does not smoke any more...

It takes a bit more to get working temperature on cold period but there is no ugly smoke and investment of 1/10 worth of the car.

  • be carful with the parcticules of the turbo in your engine

  • I think this is the auxillary engine right? Used for heating or summin?

  • lol i had same problem it was definatly the TURBO even after being told is was not by many mechanics! they said '' it should be blue smoke if it was the turbo mate'' hahaha shut up ! and to mickymoose76 below who say's they are terrible engines? these engines are one of the best they use this same engine in galaxy's seat alhambra's. vw golf,vw passat, audi A4,and A6 and some more they are very econmical and reliable. peace pls check out my page

  • smoke bomb car

  • looks like the dousing pump in the secondary water heater is failing. It's not a dead turbo (grey smoke is a combustion issue on diesel engines, turbo failure burns oil and gives a heavy blue smoke).

  • there is a auxiliary heater in every sharan, sometimes it doesn´t work right then you have this nice fog machine :-)

  • you know, there a small engine, or i dunno the perfect word for it, with what you can heat the car, without the real engine. it works with Diesel also. that's the problem..

  • i say turbo ...

  • dead turbo :-D

  • I had a diesel Astravan that once blacked the street out, i stopped and called the breakdown service, by the time he arrived, we started the van again, and guess what!..........not a hint of smoke from the exhaust

  • das ist die STandheizung hab ich von der adac

  • just replace the glow plug

  • That smoke is from webasto.A semi-dead one.Mine is full-dead one.

  • hej don't worry ...It is normal when you start cold...This phanomenon happens to all drivers of Volkswagen..It smokes a time and disappaers... <--- this is not forgery.but i drive a sharan and i had the same problem during the winter. But Now,I do not have it any more.

Smoke leaves behind the aft wheel and not the muffler. It is when you starts it and after smoke leaves!I do not find the problem!

  • I think everything is just fine...;)

  • this is breaked devasto

  • weränd der fahrd hand bremse angezogen ?

  • When the fluid of the radiator is very cold, is heated by a heater that uses the fuel. It has a separate exhaust system. It is perfectly normal to smoke, but both smoke like this, never seen at a sharan

  • you have a problem with Webasto Sirco, meibe incandescente or doze-pump is wrong. Go to Service quick because u can explod.

  • the heater. if its cold the turbine will run. if its broken the diesel wont be burned -> blown out as smoke.

  • hej don't worry ...It is normal when you start cold...This phanomenon happens to all drivers of Volkswagen..It smokes a time and disappaers...

  • because they are terrible engines?

  • DAAAAAAAAAMN, if i see that in my sharan I sue the dealer

  • my galaxy done that when my rear air con broke people behind were puting there headlights on lol

  • I have a Sharan and I have this phenomenon too when starting cold. Not this kind of cloudy weather, but definitely gassing me when in garage.....;
