No, the table is tapped, which means of have a template with the 15 spots of the balls cut out a little closer together than they are. Then you take 2 balls and hammer little dents into the cloth.
It's mainly used for 8,9 and 10 ball but as it's an all discipline EC all tables are tapped and it makes straight pool a little easier as well if you have no good break ball ;) - like corner ball in the side etc
Not really - you barely slow roll a ball in 8, 9 and 10-ball around that area, even in straight pool it doesn't affect you much, though a bad roll can occur every half a year or so
We have our tables tapped for 3 years now and I can't recall any situation where a player had a disadvantage.
But with todays knowledge I'd rack 8, 9 and 10-ball with the Magic Ball Rack which is a plastic pattern where you place the balls on. But then you'd have to rack 14.1 with a triangle, which is preferred by many purists as it takes crazy breakshots out.
MBR is better because the tapping wears out if you don't make the dents deep enough or rack the balls loosely without paying attention to the actual spots.
in straight pool if the break ball is where the rack is supposed to be set up, where are the balls racked?

Thanks. I learned something. I've never seen that before.

@tommy9927 Does that ever effect the roll of a slow roller shot? Or does it effect how a ball settles in that area?
