hi all, i'm just starting out long snapping, and seem to have a natural talent for it (second ever day of trying it at the park with my friend, i was doing 12 yard snaps pretty much perfect every time). i really want to play this position as well as OT/DT which i already play for my team. does anyone have any advice/tips/wisdom for me to improve?
@afeca2342 as long as u keep ur head down after the snap the defender in front of u can't touch u, when u hear the kick or see it come up quick and get passed ur defender, thats on a punt, however on field goal get ur head up quick to block the defender.
You suck Sundberg. You cost the redskins the Bucs game. You shouldn't be giving any instructional videos at all. You should be watching and learning from them.
I long snap, and it isn't easy at all. After a 1000 snaps you will get it down, but you have alot of pressure, a bad snap will change a game. When I go to football practice, everyone says, "Long snapping isn't THAT hard" or "Your not that important" but every time they try to do that "easy" snap it falls to the ground and is wobbly. Its my first year of football and im a freshman. Have had no bad snaps in game, perfect spiral and accuracy: .9 seconds
and let me tell you, long snapping is HARD! im the only (i mean ONLY) center on my JV Team, so i also have to long snap, i can get it to him, (although not in a perfect spiral sometimes) and het get the field goal. Yet sadly, all the cheerleader sre yelling for the quarteback and Wide recievers, and i feel so lonely cus no one cares for the center (or any lineman in general) even though all year i break my back to make sure we can make a play. Yet i get no credit even though im the foundation.
@Darkmatter28031 Tell me about it dude.. we are the hardest working people on the team. We are the ones that hit every play. They team wouldn't be any good with out a good line. I'm the center and long snapper for my highschool team and we never get the credit we deserve.
@austint19 you know what your right. I'm a tight end and I hardly ever block but when I do I take pride in it. You may not get the cheerleaders to look at you but I'm damn sure every running back and quarterback on your football team respects what you do
@djlilcrispy Exactly.. I mean if it were for us on the line blocking.. there wouldn't be anything done.. Our run and passing game would not exsist.. our coach teaches out D line to make thier line backers look like All American's.. The game starts and stops with the people that block.. and your right.. cheerleaders don't pay us the most attention.. even though we could kick thier lil quarterback's boyfriends ass.. I love my team.. I love representing my town.. I don't care if I get the credit
@austint19 I couldn't agree with you more. The O-line is the most important and critical part of a football team. The long snapper position is a very critical part of special teams. I have a ton of respect and admiration for Nick Sundberg and for his contribution to the team. Without good o-line protection the QB is nothing.
hi there i am jonas and i am playing defensive tackle and long snapper by the Vienna Vikings (Austria) and my problem is when i want to do a long snap my snap always goes short and low how i can get the ball high
@ViennaVikinger85 When you snap the ball, don't release the ball until your elbows hit your thighs, when your elbows make contact release the ball. Also throw the ball back with more power.
i watched the way you snapped and the way your one hand is further back on the ball can affect the power you get out of your snaps. but it can slightly increase accuracy, also, the way you snap the ball, you bring it off of the ground, forward, up and then back, this wastes time and could get the ball blocked, good try.
@15seahawksfan i just wanna say. Shut the fuck up. This fool knows how to snap better then anyone ive ever seen and he is playin the redskins now. So go eat a dick and let him do his thing. ya dig?
Well, Nick, I guess that you are no longer with the Panthers, since you signed a reserve/future contract with the Washington Redskins. I can tell you, though, that there is a big Redskins fan base in the Carolinas. In fact, some won't even pull for the Panthers, saying that the Redskins were here first. Best of luck in your new endeavor.
Nick, as a member of Panther Nation, welcome to Charlotte. All of the hard work and perseverance has paid off. I know that you are excited and looking forward to August 17 when you all travel to Giants Stadium to take on the New York Giants. Congratulations and good luck.

@Darkmatter28031 That great, but I would work on your speed .9 sec is good but it would be AWESOME for you to get it too .8 secs or lower.

@dfdwife2004 yeah im working on that next year, on JV, if it is under 1.5 secs your good. i just need more muscles and ill get it

oh yeah, and you do have good accuracy and power, im just curious as to why there were no 15 yard longsnaps shown for punts?

The best thing to do when sapping in a collage game is not to panic. Relax and just snap the ball!

When you stop to consider it, it must be so difficult to get the ball there accurately so quick, and at the correct angle.

i agree, its prb the hardest thing when you have to snap especially long snap, cause a bad snap can rly effect the play
