You did a fine job of pickin' at the ol' banjo, to a song that isn't known to me. I enjoy the banjo and you added some vocals which seem to tie in nicely to this Black Eyed Susie. Thx4 posting.
Holy half-fretless banjo, Batman! Did you take half the fretboard off a fretted banjo? You must be some sort of mad scientist of mountain music! Sounds great!
Banjos were fretless for much of their history. These days many people producing Old-Timey music still play then this way. The legato sound only really works in the first few positions, resulting in some builders doing what you see above.
Here's part of the first verse; Prettiest girl, that I ever saw, sat on a rock down in Arkansas - Hay, Black-eyed Susie - Ho - Black-eyed Susie - Hay - Black-eyed Susie Jane. You can look up the lyrics on google too. (Mind you, there are tons of different versions of this song.)
You DO realize you're singing "black eyed Susie" while playing "soldier's joy", right?

Righteous. Very good quality sound recording as well. How old approxx is the banjo if you don't mind me asking?

Great tune. That's a pretty cool banjo too, half-fretless, I've never seen one before. Really cool.
