  • Awes

ome brings back a lot of Florida memories!

  • THIS BAND KICKS SERIOUS ASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2 people don't have power of the night!!

  • Dude Criss is soooo much better than then new singer

  • my fisrt song that i practice with my band (me on drums) ohhh i wanna cry!!! i love this song!!! long time ago!!! a female band, the director my friend jimena on guitar, exactly the same sound as savatage

  • This song kicks some serious you know what ! Thanks for the memories bro

  • So much raw power in this song unlike todays krap Raising the fist of the metal child forever Michigan RIP Criss the metal misses you

  • @CatTripleOrNothing Wow!! couldnt have said it any better! Children of the "METAL" movement!! have seen the tage' many times, amazing live!! one of my top metal bands for sure!!!! (<..........

  • 1985 baby!!!!! criss oliva rips it........saw them live twice in the 80's.... so close i had my hand on criss olivas guitar while he rippped the lead to this song....i will never forget it...flaming mug ...fayetteville n.c.

  • This album is great. Loved it in the good old days and still today.

  • Where did they find a picture of me for the album cover?

  • Just discovered this band. Sounds great!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me what album to start with? Thanks!

The Guitar work here is refreshing and genuine!

  • @isma2024 Definitely start with Hall of the Mountain King and then Power of the Night, Sirens & The Dungeons are Calling and if you want more progression Gutter Ballet and Edge of Thorns

  • @isma2024 just start with their first lp and start moving up from there, just about all their material is awesome. just go to MagAmthyst's channel and u will see. been a tage. fan starting some where in the begining of the 80's. to bad chris was killed!!!

  • @isma2024 i dont know cuz i just became a fan myself but i can tell you that most of their albums on amazon are cheap so and rare so its better than download find out on amazon or wiki buy searching the title of song big metal love to ya... bang on

  • @isma2024 Start with 'Power of the Night', then get 'Hall of the Mountain King', 'Sirens',. 'The Dungeons Are Calling' and 'Gutter Ballet in that order. That's essential Savatage right there.

  • @HalalKafir Handful of Rain where?...

Is the best album i heard from this band, Chance gets everything.

  • @OverlordAbraxas HoR is really good but none of the post-Criss releases can hang with the first 5, 6 albums (safe for 'Fight For The Rock' which was rather lame) which constitute classic Savatage.

  • @HalalKafir I don't think so... Edge of Thorns is another good one. Gutter Ballet IS the DEAL. But Sirens? No, really i can't like that album at all, same history for The Dungeons are Calling. The other ones you mencioned are good too, but i think "Handful of Rain" is their best work... sorry Mr. Chris wasn't there for that tima... it would get better.

  • I Think The Critters Johnny Steele One Is Better And Tell Me If I Spelled Anything Wrong.

  • Raise the fist of the Metal child!!!!!!!!

  • good old fashion metal.......idon't like it...I..I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • @zenimaru666 Not the same song dude.

  • kick ass

  • This is such an Epic song! Amazing tones and riffing throughout. Incredible by both Olivas!

Children of the metal movement - The legion's growing stronger! I wish this was true nowadays, more people should appreciate how great a band savatage are, and how brilliant criss oliva was on guitar, he should be considered one of the best, on par with the likes of randy rhoads.

  • @demoniser. It is true today man! I'm 17 and have a ton of friends my age that are incredibly into stuff like this!! The Legion is STILL growing stronger!

  • RIP Chriss !

  • the three most underated metal bands of all time savatage saxon and manowar they all fucking rock and deserve way more credit then they get

  • @MrManmountainrock Agreed and you forgot Virgin Steele too! :)

  • @wyvernrealms yeah virgin steele are also a very underated band to

  • @MrManmountainrock Yup. The songwriting brilliance of VS can be astonishing at times!

  • Skullcrushing power metalsong. The ideal speed for banging till you bleed.

  • Whoever disliked this deserves to be put in the guillotine.

  • If not channeling, they were at least emulating Priest here. A very slight bit of Maiden, too. Which, by this time, were almost ten years old. I only ever liked Hall of the Mountain King, anyways.

  • @aculturemind While there are Priest influences in this song, "Power of the Night" was released in 1985... Maiden wasn't 10 years old yet... Priest's pre-Stained Class material was a bit less of what we now associate with Priest... Sin after Sin and Rocka Rolla were heavily influenced by the psychedelic rock just 10 years prior (though I confess, Priest did it better.) Now, granted Sad Wings was a bit more of the traditional priest... but I don't think Priest/Maiden were upset with Savatage. :)

  • @Gluesponge

Pedagogically, what you said is accurate. The salient points are:

    - 'metal' was a genre by '78

    - both Priest and Maiden were main acts by this time

    - 'metal' style was out-dated by '84, as evidenced by the more sophisticated material of Metallica's Ride the Lightning, let alone Master of Puppets.

Hall of the Mountain King, while not evolutionary, was at least fairly original.

  • @aculturemind

Nothing is really out-dated and Metallica is NOT a progression from those bands, they were just a different style. Traditional metal is never obsolete.

  • @ABurialatOrnans1

Yes and no. There's no reason to make music in the style of heavy metal, just as there's no reason to make music in the 'Classical' style.

  • @Gluesponge

Whoops, I'm a little off on Maiden. Actually, I thought they didn't really come to prominence till about '81, which is true, yet second-guessed myself. As well, I didn't know that was when Bruce Dickinson joined. So, for them the window was really only three to four years before they were obsolete.

Incidentally, my younger brother listened to Maiden. I was listening to country and classical - then, at 15, made a quick shift to METAL (versus metal).

  • Im 14 and iv been listening to rock and heavy metal since i was 8 and i just now discovered this band! When u listen to rock or metal theres such a variation to listen to and i liked rap but it got boring to me cuz its all the same. Metal is different it always tells a story along with great guitars and rythm behind it instead of some shitty beat the so called "artist" buys. Fuck that this is music, this is true talent Raise the fist of the Metal Child!!!!

  • @MrBarnett420 Very col that you got into metal and Savatage. Here are a few moire band and albums to check out: - Metal Church - s/t, The Dark - Sword - Metalized - Accept - Breaker, Restless & Wild - Warrior - Fighting For The Earth - Q5 - Steel The Light - Vicious Rumors - s/t, Digital Dictator, Soldiers of the Night - Malice - In The Beginning - Loudness - Thunder in the East, Disillusion - Crimson Glory - s/t, Transcendence - Leatherwolf - s/t (1984), Street Ready - Racer X - Street Lethal
  • @SabuPtolemy Thnx i appreciate you taking the time to do that man ill deff check these albums out iv herd some of these bands but the only band i no any music by is Accept

  • @MrBarnett420 definitely check out crimson glory they are immense

  • @MrBarnett420 Accept is a good start - especially 'Breaker' and 'Restless & Wild', as well as their brand new album, 'Blood of the Nations'. Hope some of those other albums will be up your alley, too.

  • @SabuPtolemy Trust me man iv listened to accepts new album its awesome! i always listen to a bands new material but for some reason i never crack open their classic stuff which is usually a bands best material

  • @MrBarnett420 Make sure you stick with savatage. They beat all the others by a longshot

  • POWER OF THE NIGHT WAS THE FIRST SONG I EVER HEARD FROM SAVATAGE THE NEXT DAY GOT THE ALBUM BACK IN 83-84 R.I.P JOHN OLIVIA

    Criss....you are not forgotten.

  • Definitely one of my favorite Savatage tunes of all time. All the more reason it's long overdue that this band gets back together again.

  • the rif is a little like song of doom"videogame"

  • @lorenzo89theking This song was composed aproximately 8 years before Doom was released so it may be more correct ot say Doom Videogame Song is a little like Power of the Night :D

  • I am privevleged enough to own this masterpiece album on vinyl... I love it so freaking much!

  • @dolphinbuffman I used to own this on vinyl (before my divorce) Saw them live on this tour in a tiny venue. Awesome!

  • @Umlatta

... They never came to Australia, so I never got to see them. I guess their fan base over here just wasn't large enough to warrant a tour. What was it like seeing them?

  • @dolphinbuffman as I recall it was a very good show. I remember they shared the bill with Rogue Male (a somewhat unsual combo). It was a really small venue -- an old country club that hosted that had been converted to all ages space.. Saw Metallica there around that same time w/ about 50-75 people. Intense.

  • @Umlatta

50 to 70 people for Metallica!? this must be before they became big... I severely doubt they'd have bothered putting on such a small show after they'd been properly discovered. I remember one of my friends dads telling me about a time he saw AC/DC with the same sort of setting... Wierd how these bands you got to see at the local battle of the bands are suddenly doing World Tours...

  • @dolphinbuffman Yeah, it was right around the time that Metallica was picked up by Elektra. Back in the Cliff days. W.A.S.P. & Armored Saint were on the bill that night too. W/in a yr they were opening for Ozzy in our local arena -- & the parking lot posers were bragging how they'd "seen" Metallica at the country club -- lol. That was the last time I saw Lars & Co. Thought I'd savor the memory of that up close & personal experience & leave the arena shows to their new fans ;-) .

  • @Umlatta

Thats nice of you I guess, but I bet they'd love to have seen an original fan among the crowd, I'm in a band (yet undiscovered) and I know most of the people who are in our regualar crowd.

W.A.S.P played as well!? Blackie Lawless is awesome! How many albums had they done when you saw them? If that same show was to be played now with the same bands, easy a couple of million people would turn up. (Would require a larger venue however :P)

  • @dolphinbuffman I just meant after Metallica blew up it was a different world for metal. Yeah, the bill that night was Armored Saint (YES!), W.A.S.P. & Metallica -- at an old country club with just a handful of people. There were about 100+ there for WASP but half of them ran away when Metallica took the stage lol

  • @dolphinbuffman I saw Metallica at The Troubadour at one of the two shows they played while in studio for And Justice For All. They just did it to blow off some steam....played under the name "Frayed Ends." They were huge then (of course). Still have Hetfield's pick. I was the ONLY one to get a pick. He placed it directly in my hand. A bunch of maniacs jumped me, trying to pry my fingers open, but none of them got close.

  • @Lengsel7

Hahaha, that's awesome. I'd love to get a pick from one of my favorite bands but it won't happen due to most of them having disbanded or due to the fact that i can't get close enough at gigs. Bloody concert tickets are worth a fortune.

  • whats the name of the singer? it is Jon Oliva?

  • @jorgmichael89 Yes,It is.

  • @jorgmichael89

    yes, it is

  • A simple riff......an EPIC riff, one of my favourite ever in the entire Heavy Metal history.
