Yes, the 2003 cartoon was based off the COMICS, brought out in the 80ies. It was darker, and basically more mature than the cartoon people know from the 80ies. TMNT was, back then, supposed to be a kidsshow, so what do you do? You lighten it up and not follow the comic. .
So all of you saying: "lulz 2003 sucks", you basically say the comic sucks, and in that the origin of TMNT WITHOUT doing proper investigation.
is ironic that many tmnt fans don't know that this series is more like a adaptation of the original tmnt comic, the comic was first, 84 to be precise, and then the tv series came in 87 whit a lot of the comic toned down, the 2003 series take a lot from the comic, like the origin of splinter, Casey Jones been a more recurrent character, April being a computer programmer, shredder and the foot clan being more lethal and serious etc..
This one is good but no need to diss what I grew up on. The original show was awesome for the time. Best of animation. Much like the original Transformers. I only hate the newest Transformer cartoons for making Optimus Prime a flippin Fire Truck.
Oh and you want the real turtles? Find the original black and white comic book. Raphael would snap the foot soldiers necks and kill them. Wasn't meant for kids at first.
idk, this opening is a metaphor for how awesome this series was. the soundtrack, the character development, the plot, the animation---anyone who dislikes this show are just dumb ignor-anuses. at the very least, back up your "dislike" with actual evidence.
at first I hated this show... but after watching it a couple of times it actually follows the original comics a lot more than the TMNT show most of us grew up with in the 90's. The other was more comedy relief, this one was a lot more serious.
actually, 5ds is one of those they actually did well--very well actually. many of you have so much high standards--but really, from a fellow dub hater, 5ds, pokemon (somewhat), kirby, and turtles were pretty decent if not good.
Don't act as if japanese or chinese is one of the most important languages on earth... and now don't tell me that i should learn one of those languages... i can already speak german, english, french, spanish and latein.

Hm, I do like this Ninja Turtles, it is darker, BUT It would have been better with Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady... and some of the older villains ;P

Heck, we haven't gotten a new opening for the series since 2006 (we'll be getting a new one in September, though).
