  • This clearly ain't the Vienna Boys Choir, this is Libera from South London!!

Compare this to Sanctus by Steven Geragathy (sorry for the wrong spelling)

  • Thank you so much for sharing this.

  • awww this is .....just cute..!! ^^

  • So beautiful. It needs no fisual. This stands on it own merit.

  • i like 1:34

  • i acualy want to cry its so nice

  • Amazing how hight boys' voices can be when they are so young, compared to how low they can get when they're just a few years older....

  • Libera, being a London boys choir, where all the boys are English, sing English songs very naturally. Go search for the video on youtube using 'libera sanctus steven geraghty' and click on the first video. Compare that video with this one. :)

  • It's an easy mistake, cos they're both so good. :) use their accents when they sing English songs to tell them apart. Choir members in Vienna Boys' come from countries where English is not the 1st language, hence, a strong accent can be heard.

  • I believe this was sung by Libera, not by Vienna Boys' Choir

  • haunting........

  • This is probably my most favorite Christmas song, thank you for sharing. I too believe this is for listening, no appologies for audio only!

Sanctus
  • Sanctus (Holy)

Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini (Blessed, who cometh in the name of the Lord)

Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth (Holy Lord God Sebaoth)

Pleni sunt caeli et terra Gloria (The heaven and earth are filled with thy glory)

  • AMAZING~

  • Why say Sorry for that it only Audio? Music is for the ears not eyes. If you close your eyes while listening to something as beautiful as this... Does it matter?

  • This is beautiful

  • Nice song!! is beautiful melody!!

  • is this really an all boys choir?

  • Beautiful..

  • It's so beautyful... i love it <3

  • Damn, this is a big Mistake! THIS REALLY IS SANCTUS BY LEBERA NOT CANON BY VBC!

  • @iofieltina um this is not a mistake. the music peice that they are singing along to IS an adaptation of Pachelbel's canon in D. the lyrics they are using though are as you said i do believe.

  • who knows the lyrics? kindly comment the words! please :D

  • Im not religous..but i can cleary hear that this is the music of the angels!! So poweful but pure at the same time

  • Damn, these boys have really beautiful voices! <3

  • I have just listened to this throughout Mass tonight. It was beautiful.

  • I got shivers. <3

  • เก่งมากค่ะ ^^

  • Sorry, but itsn't the Canon in D of Pachelbel, its the "Sanctus" singing by The Chorus Libera. By the way, a beautiful music and wonderful choir.

  • @lory04 It's a variation of Pachebel's Canon in D :)

  • This is not Vienna Boys Choir. This an English Boys Choir called Libera. Previously they were called Angel Voices and thay are a performing part of a larger Church Choir called St Phillips from London.

Thanks mdkaye for sharing. :-)

  • i love it!! i really love it!! dou you have the lyrics to sing it?

  • This is Libera!! not the Vienna Boys Choir

  • @ditaddict I think so but to my knowlege, Vienna boys perfomed it too.

  • This is Libera!!

  • WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST DO THE ENTIRE CANON???

  • 素晴らしい!(très bien, wonderful)

  • its a beautiful song, they have nice voices

  • It's like God's gushing through my ears!

  • Is there anyway to make it so i can listen to this on my cell phone youtube, because it says not avalible for mobile ... and i really like this song and i wanna listen to it.. so please>.< ..

    Thank you..

  • Beautiful, it gave me goosebumps. Thank you for sharing!

  • Libera

  • Why does people always confuse Libera and VBC? they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT choir AND this is no Canon D. This is Sanctus!!

  • Why does people always confuse Libera and VBC? they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT choir

  • i closed my eyes while listening to this and saw angels. so beautiful! snap! those boys can sing!

  • precioso magnifico me ayudara siempre

    Gracias

  • Amazing, brilliant and beautiful song indeed, but awful information! It's not Vienna, they're Libera Boys' Choir from South London. Also it's called Sanctus.

  • Two big mistakes... Libera and Sanctus...No VBC and Cannon.

  • Anyone know where i can find a video of the vienna boys choir??

  • @Wondergirl9696 Right here on YT. Tons of their stuff.

  • This is absolutely LIBERA! It is not the Vienna Choirboys.

  • @CP6016 You are correct. The group singing is Libera. The way the boys pronounce the Latin and Hebrew words in the song is very British!

  • Good sandwich eating song

  • arglhlglhlglhg!!!! Incredible! That's what I want it to sound like when I go to heaven :)

  • Undescribable.

  • "sigh" its sooo peaceful !

  • 19 people wish they had voice talent like this. This is absolutely beautiful!

  • i want little castrated boys to sing this on my future wedding <3

  • Beautiful!

  • It's awesome. If Libera did this, they deserve the credit.

  • Thank you Gege

  • Simplemente hermoso.

  • Wonderful... Music from the Sky...

  • Does anyone know where to find the lyrics to this song?

  • Comment removed

  • @bandnerd1548 Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus dominus deus sabaoth, pleni sunt caeli et terra, gloria tua, Hosannah in excelsis. Benedictus qui venit in nomine domini, Hosannah in excelsis. It's latin and translates into, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosannah in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosannah in the highest.

  • @FireLily500

where did you get lyrics? i wanna know full lyrics (the latin one, of course)

  • this is so beautiful, im crying, its so, just wow, i have no words

  • Beautiful !

  • This is Sanctus, not Canon in D. One of the most beautiful spine chilling things i've heard.

  • I miss being able to sing high like this =(

  • Yeah this is definitely libera. Vienna boys should be able to pronounce Latin better than this... baynaydictus...lol...in dominay...rofl

The music does sound beautiful though.

  • mehh...this is libera ._.

  • Stunning

  • ok um to be honest i cried when i first heard this song. where can i download this and add this to my mp3

  • Wow, this is so beautiful I get tears in my eyes!

  • Imma girl, and can't even hit some of those notes! GGOORRGGEEOOUUSS!!

  • fuck man, i wanna cry right now.

  • I do not care who you are, but please do not tell us ever to put on that absolute abomination as a substitute for this angelic music. Thank you.

  • Oh my God... I listened to this and got goosebumps. I swear, my heart stopped for a moment. Wow.

  • Speechless. Godbless.

  • what language is this, latin?

  • @jab106 Yes, its Latin.

  • My GF was on the phone when I listened to this and she stopped talking ( a miracle in itself) and said she got goosebumps, and I could honestly feel the same way. At the very end, we found ourselves with misty eyes! Beautiful.

  • Beautiful......

  • I didn't know that the Florentine Castrati (Castrate) still existed today) I honestly thought they would sound better than this.

  • that make life worth living sometimes

  • i hv been lookin for this version 4 about ages. now i will grab it

  • this is not Vienna Boys, it's Libera :D

  • Canon in:D

  • Because this is in D ;)

  • Do you know where I can buy this???? I'm getting married in a couple weeks and I need to purchase it soon! Please help! Thanks!

  • @PersonalizedFitness

You can buy it from itunes - just search for Sanctus by Libera. Obviously Libera is a a boys choir so the line up changes all the time and they record different versions with the new boys.

I think this version is the first one they did back in 1999 (you can see the video here on YouTube with Liam O' Kane lighting a candle). You could also buy the album off Amazon. The album is called Libera and you can listen to a preview of Sanctus to confirm it is the one you want.

  • I don't know how they do it, but Phantom Regiment makes this piece so unbelievably phenomenal. They're almost synonymous with this song.

  • wow boys?!

  • THIS IS NOT IN D! ¬¬

  • This is the video that introduced me to Libera. Over 2 years later, I haven't forgotten my initial reaction to this...and now own every CD Libera has sold (except ones avail in Japan only..bah!)

  • Canon in D have too much version.. making me blur @.@ perfect version normal version rock version bla bla ~ @.@ but i like this version :P even they all was so called kid :) but their sound was ~ AWESOME ! :D
  • I experienced a taste of heaven like nothing I've ever felt.

  • the beginning of the music, i had goosebump and I felt like I had a mind-organism , it's so beautiful and wonderful.

  • Sometimes, in the midst of of the bleakness of an ordinary life, you stumble across something truly beautiful...

  • @baltolover272

Comme c'est vrai ! ... dans ce monde de bruts ...

  • @baltolover272

I could not have said anything more meaningful...

  • @baltolover272

    Nicely put.

  • Sanctus

    Sanctus, Sanctus

    Benedictus qui venit in Domine

    Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabbaoth,

Pleni sunt coeli et terra Gloria

    Benedictus in nomine

    Qui venit in nomine

  • I think they are wonderful. I can be stressed out--sit and listen and be transported away.

  • Yes this is Libera or "Angel Voices" singing Sanctus. The church is in a poorer section of south London. I think they sound better than Vienna Boy Choir. (although I do hear some mature male voices in this piece?)

  • @texbear21 The male voices are guest performers.(At least in the live version. Wouldn't be surprised if some of them had bass voices:P(considering they have the top range covered)

  • @MrJackanthony I would say they're the St Phillips Church choir, which all the Libera boys sing in as well, as Libera is merely a selection of boys from the St Phillips choir.

  • @Treemeadow I see. Thanks. Duly noted:) Thanks mate

  • it's the voice of angels

  • Najpiękniejsza melodia jaką słyszałem!

    Iście boska! :)

  • I hope the music also reaches Hell, I'll be listening. (:

  • when the harmonies start soaring...it made the hair on my neck stand up! Thank God for good music like this!

  • Tak w Niebie - śpiewają Aniołki*

  • paradise !!!!!

  • amazing !

  • TRAN CAN COOK loves these boys!!!

    Check us out!!

  • Pachelbel's canon Oh Lord,Why Lord

  • Śpiew Aniołów w NIEBIE ....... :):):)

  • Angels...

  • Does not matter who is singing this piece. It is a great piece of music!!

  • omg !! i cried .. so bueatiful <3 im touched

  • Just a correction. This is a recording of "Sanctus" by "Libera" based on Pacabel's Canon in D and not the Vienna Boys Choir. They are boy singers from various local South London schools. Certainly very angelic indeed and thanks for sharing.

  • I always thought it sounded too "poppified" for the VBC.

  • Indeed... I would classify Libera in the "crossover genre" akin to Brightman (though not as bad). Still, it's a nice contemporary arrangement of a favorite piece.

  • i guess i cant argue opinions but to my taste they ruined a beautiful piece of music

  • that is truly beautiful, treble voices have such a clear ring to them, its annoying when you know women can sing like this but they use vibrato etc and distort the sound when this is clearly so much more beautiful.

  • women can't sing like this. And the beauty is relative to the piece. I certainly wouldn't want to hear Si, mi chiamano Mimi sung with straight tone.

  • Comment removed

  • @Greatheil i've heard some women who can still sing like this, very purely because they haven't been trained to change the clear tone. its beautiful.

  • @bethslifebeforedeath more like they've been trained to change their natural tone. You have to force an adult voice to sing straight tone.

  • jesus christ.....it's beautiful:X:X:X

  • GREAT ! AWESOME VOICE !

  • Wohl eher D-Minor!

  • ANGELIC.

    you can feel like heaven!

    nice nice!

  • yep this is once again Libera, I've listened to BOTH groups and they both have distinctive timbres and sounds, if VBC had a version like this it would not sound like this but sound a lil more curt.

  • Requiscat in Pace

    Joe, I love you.

  • loved it watching again....sending my three gay brothers...loving kind wishes for 2010.......mary...please pass on......

  • @sabotsailor6331 : no, it's not libera, it's vienna boys choir, they copying all libera's songs....!

  • This is libera.

    Vienna boys never did this.

  • WOW

  • Yes it's Libera, a boy choir, though I think they're from the UK. They are singing Sanctus. You can also find lyrics on their website.

  • 4everCharmed, the lyrics are taken from the beautiful Latin Mass Liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church. The lyrics come from the Sanctus and Benedictus. The English translation of the complete prayer of the Mass is (Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus) Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. The heavens and the earth are full of Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He (Benedictus) that cometh in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. In this arrangement it seems to be set to Canon in D.

  • Can anyone listen to this and not end up in tears? It is so beautiful.

  • Oh how beautifully angelic! It sound is so pure and brilliant, it is now even more definite that God exists as to touch us with such a marvel rich, beauty and magnificence! I had a very high voice only two years ago, I wish I could have put some use to it by receiving voice training.

Now only to combine an orchestra playing Canon with this splendor to create something of such a calibur as to have part of my life completed.

  • Looking for the lyrics too, anyone able to help? Or if you ever had latin type it down? At least tell me the word they sing first XY to trinity to trinity..

what is it? I just don't get it and it drives me frantic!

  • @4everCharmed

    Benedictus, Benedictus

    qui venit in nomine benedictus

    In nomine

    Domine

    Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabbaoth

Pleni sunt coeli et terra Gloria

    Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabbaoth

    Pleni sunt coeli gloria.

  • Oh thanks! Do you also know the word I named XY ?

  • @4everCharmed words to what

    ?

  • Uhm Yada yada trinity to trinity..

sounds like many-sth oder manity lol

I have been wondering about this word forever now..I can't sleep if i don't find out now.. lol

  • @4everCharmed

where can i find it so i can listen 2 it

  • 0:21-0:22 it is like the first clear word a boy sings..

if you consider the beginning more like a background music..

  • @4everCharmed

    in this song

  • @4everCharmed

    they are singing Benedictus

i gave you the lyrics just read along and they are correct

  • I can not wait for my vocal chords to settle down, so I can sing again! -_-
