  • I think I'll take the plunge and buy this on blu ray. I like my Wagner traditional but I don't mind as much for Tristan und Isolde as say the Ring or Parsifal to be contemporary. The music and singing sound great and plus there is not a lot of choice for Wagner on blu ray.

  • Is this a comedy or what? Because I find this production hilarious.

  • I agree! See clips from my 1968 Belgium Tristan with maybe a little more 'magic'. Tantris3 channel.

  • Great singers and great conduction!!! I feel very much involved in the sentiment of their singing...will look foward to see more of this great singers!!!. Can you please post the actual stage performance?, or please clarify, is this the rehearsal? (because they are not dressed for this opera, and no stagging). Thank you for sharing!!!

  • @tenorschofield , it is the opera, not rehearsal

  • this production is too far out for words--no magic in the most magical of operas. bayreuth, once again, goes 0 for 50. if you want to go to a 'traditional' production stay away from bayreuth--Wagner's descendents are ruining everything.

  • id need rohipnol to sleep with him

  • not exotic, erotic mood which i like in this piece the most at all. i'd never payed for this perfomance.

  • The singing here is great, I actually quite like the sets and costume.

  • @pointreyes6 are you serious? lets put it on the 'love boat'--would you like that evenbetter????

  • I do not care that the production is contemporary... I care that it is BORING!

    .

I have seen this furniture thrown about the place in two Tristan productions, plus a Salome, a Così and just about all last decade Traviatas...

a pity for the singers who give their all and they -as well as the audience- are still deprived of the magic that this music can create...

  • Why on Earth are they wearing modern clothes? It's Wagner, people, it's Bayreuth! Why are you ruining it?

  • I saw it live this week in Bayreuth too. Best production of this opera in my 30 years experience (and i have seen plenty of productions of this). People who thought it was rubbish are insensitive and unimaginative.

  • Tremendous singing, particularly from Robert Dean Smith, complete rubbish and very irritating production. I saw it live in the Festspielhaus last night.

  • La morte del teatro, La mort du theatre, der Tod des Theaters, the death of the theater, το τέλος του Θεάτρου. Doing such a massacre to Wagner and his Passion for the Tragedy ist really evilness. They just sty there and see the pubblicum while the music express the most deep himan emotions. Shame to the destroyer...

  • Awful sets but awesome singing

  • tengo este blu-ray y ( en mi parecer), opus arte no saca el sonido Bayreuth tan bien como la deutsche grammophon

  • Thanksfor posting this. I'll just listen to it though.Production is, as usual with modern productions, absolute rubbish!

  • @jimuk63 disagree completely.

  • @jimuk63 Nice to see you have an open mind.
