  • Wat hey said

  • Eat he's said

  • that sucks

  • STUPID!!!

  • wast ur battery

  • lol! glitch fail.

  • its only for that game -_-

  • If you turn it off click ok then click back on the tools in the top right press left on the D-pad and it makes a noise! Found by me

  • You guys who say it dont go fully black get lost coz it does

  • can u do it iwith jam sessions??

  • It only turns off the backlight! I have the game.

  • thats funny! : ) (not in the mean way)

  • i have that game and the screen does not tern off it just goes very dark

  • well yeah, it just turns the backlight off ;)

  • It also works with The Sims 2 for DS

  • i love that game!!!!

  • whats that song

  • the reason is for you asking peeps are: the DSL has a led screen witch has built-in light but for the orignial DS ha an LDC screen with the only bachlight is lights surrounding inside the DS. SO that this game waz made before the DSL cameout. That meens that it switches the orignal DS's mini foolish not built in screen but built in screen casing led's off/and on (like the gba sp light function). Since the DSL's is rewired for the led to the same cuircuts it turns off the whole screen!!!!!!!!!

  • You can do that on Zoo Tycoon DS as well.

  • Not only mario 64, even Metroid Pinball can do so!

  • on my game- Zoo Tycoon DS - if u press B on the main menu, it turns black!

  • i did not know that fruitcakes could talk lol

  • lol i have smb64ds, ill try

  • its not a glitch have the light off in bright lite or outside it looks greenish but cool

  • does anybody know why they even have that feature on the game?

  • I like pie.

  • the older nds games will have this feature in the games as a power save option

you wont find it in later titles released

after the lite version was released

  • the old nds used tft technology screens

it had reflective film on the back of the screen that allowed useage of game play without the backlight being on if you had good light sorce

the nds light however uses a difrent screen

and has no reflective film on the screens

so it apears to be off

you can just make out some screen activity

  • It's not weird, it's an option in the game. =/

  • Well, you can just close it, and it turns off the screens and goes into low power mode, but doesn't shut down entirely, so there's no real need. It's just an option in this particular game.

  • i like doing it with asphalt urban gt, because you can turn each screen off individualy :) lol

  • n00b

  • what the fuk

  • hhaahahahahah so stupid everybody know that !!

  • its not a fault! and when me and my friend were little and we had a saga, we had mario and she was so good shed turn the tv brightness down compleeetly and she wouldnt die for a while!!!! shes really good

  • Actually, have you ever tried to play a DS lite outside? The sun overpowers the light from the system and looks exactly the same way. You can't see a damn thing. When you turn off the backlight, same thing happens. It's on, you just can tell it's on.

  • you can do that on the urbs sims in the city game it depend on whitch game have that option its not a ds lite problem.

  • get a hobby dude:P

  • lites not lite's that means lite is not lites as belonging 2 itslef its a grammatical error u thicko (wide window by lemony snicket)

  • who gives a shit about this!!!

  • how to turn off your screen pull down the button that says power

  • WHO CARES!!!!

  • on both my ds and psp, I always keep the light on at all times, unless on the psp, Im listen to music, or the ds, Im might happen to use the alarm clock feature or something

  • My parents work at nintendo and I went and checked with them and Nintendo *some tech guy* told me that they had forseen the problem and was thinking of putting some sort of error screen when that was pushed but they thought it would be a little intresting if they didn't. By the way, the DS lite uses a different type of LCD that has to be backlit to be Viewable. Theres something on that it can save more power than the orginal or something..... yah. =]

  • Maybe someone should start a loyer company making the game producers paying out for all the mistakes made in games & consolles? It's just too stupid with backlight and screen problems in an "improved" consolle version. And why the hell can't DS take gbc?!

  • Because the GBA had the processors from the GBA and GBC consoles, which is why the console has two startup screens. Likewise with the DS, which has the DS and GBA processors.

  • The screens does not turn 100% off. If you look closer you can still see that there IS a picture. I promise.

But it is so weak that the game is unplayable, but you can barely see whats written in the buttons.

  • so what?

  • So why would you want the backlight to be turned off anyways?

  • good thing i got the original. by the way awesome music.

  • I hated the DS when it came out, so I got a DS Lite first. SM64 was the second game I got, and that backlight thing pissed me off. I believe that on the DS, you can still see what's on screen with the backlight off, but the DS Lite uses a different kind of LCD, so you can't (so the only reason the hardware still lets you turn the screen off seems to be for sleep mode). Not that that "feature" wasn't pointless on the original DS too; you can always turn the backlight off from the startup menu.

  • WoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOow.

  • whoa... you just changed my life..

  • if the screen entirely turns off how are you able to know where the buttons are? i see you click on them O.o?

  • I just guess. I've had it since it came out, so I'm used to the controls.

  • i hope you break it when u switched the backlight on and off at that speed

  • A. The screens entirely turn off. Not the backlight.

    B. Why?

  • Does that work with all DSes?

  • Only DS Lites.

  • Damn! Your really board! *Tee hee*
