no they are not.....my 79 has a bird emblem on the gas flap and so do all other 79 firebirds. Trans ams do not have the bird emblem unless they have had firebird lights put on as a replacement due to the fact that trans am lights were all blacked out
Early '79s did NOT have the bird emblem between the tail lights. The bird was added from late '79s up to 1981. Otherwise, the exterior from '79 to '81 (except 1980-81 Turbo TAs, which had a different hood) looks the same.
Hi, They completely changed the front end and tail lights in '79. I have a '78 which is pretty much identical to the '77. Don't get me wrong though the '79 is still a damn nice car. Michael.
Sounds like the engine is laboring, or not firing on all cylinders

@RATTfan95 you can burn out in anything with enough power. my '80 TA is an automatic, and i burn out often. its bad on the brakes though..

because they are..basically
both motors the factory insane bored /stroke 403 which is greater than any bb chebby...and our fav lil poncho 400 are great motors
they just cant breath due to emissions and smog control at that time
so you have a factory motors that need very lil work to hit 300-400 hp

actually dude, i have a 79 trans am. they are exactly the same as a 77 except the bird on the hood. so how is a 77 nicer??
