  • I grew up there. I printed that picture at 3:45 for my grandmother. Can I get it back please. It's really sad to see it like this.

  • it's like why didn't they just rebuild the bridge?

  • I went there last year, amazing! It is very sad that people have vandalized it so much, because there were so many things in those houses that could have been very valuable to those that use to own them. I also agree that they should keep letting nature take over, while we were there we saw many rabbits and a even a few deer. Beautiful, cannot wait to go back. Great slide show by the way =]

  • I was out there last about a year ago, and saw a deer, she saw me and didn't care, let me walk right past her. It was cool. I guess the deer out there hardly ever see humans, so they don't bother them.

  • better go soon, there tearing it down soon

  • i know who set it on fire, the caught him

  • we grew up there. and you were right....we were forced out of our homes. it was stratford that did it. they just want the property. just wait..they won't continue to use it for nature, they will sell it and make huge amounts of money. maybe not this year, but they will do it. that was their main idea on getting us all out.

  • They didn't willingly leave it, they were forced out by the town. They owned the homes, but not the land, that was leased by the town.

  • damn i live 15 minutes away but havent gotten to see this place yet

  • You'd better go soon, I was there in August and it was way more destroyed then in March.

  • I was there in both March, June, July and August...rapid destruction...plan on returning later this month and again (hopefully) in November

  • i'd rather nature take back the land! that area was SO abused in the last 40 years. the problem is that people in bridgeport don't care about the land around them. i grew up there and i hated it. no one cares about the place. it's just a poverty stricken area!

  • Wow, great slideshow! Good choice of songs too. Thanks for sharing this.

  • not only the houses being trashed, but itz also sad to see vintage item being destroyed as well like old tvs and radios.

  • I know it. I didn't put it in the video, but in one of the garages I found a late 40's or early 50's Philco AM/FM/SW/Phono console in decent shape. Too bad I don't have a boat!

  • agree...I actually tried to tidy up one of those houses! the one with the piano...but they just messed up my precious work :(

  • I went recently but didn't go inside any of the houses. Can you tell me which was the one with the piano?

  • very first house...i dont want to kno how messy it may be now...:(

  • What about beautiful Seaside Park and St. Mary's by the Sea? Not to mention Captain's Cove Marina? All beautiful as well, though I understand it isn't the same as the old Pleasure Beach. Thanks again! :)

  • Seaside Park is too dangerous now. Nothing else in the city is like Pleasure Beach used to be, and it was so large too! Of course, knowing the way things are go around there, I'm sure nothing will happen at all for a while. More vandalism will occur, and more houses will get torched in the mean time.

  • ditto, i lived down the road from there last year ...only three months...had to get away it was scary

  • what is so dangerous?

  • Some of the buildings out there are in bad shape. If you were by yourself and got seriously hurt out there, no one would ever find you. I also doubt anyone would hear you yell for help.

  • gotcha

  • Part 1 and 2, very well done! Thanks for capturing this. I think it is sad that people had to leave, but everything happens for a reason. And now, look at how much fragile wildlife has returned. IF they make it to a wildlife preserve, it would be just fine with me. :)

  • It would be nice though if the people of Bridgeport had a nice beach park to go to like they used to have here, it was a great place for recreation in a city that has virtually no public waterfont access. I think thats the citizen's biggest complaint about the wildlife preserve plan. Whatever they do, it most certantly should not be devolped.
