Finally someone who is not so freaking fixxated on graphics. Graphics don't have to the freaking best to make a good game. Look at minecraft it has old school graphics but people love it for its gameplay not its looks. Thank you for making a decent review instead of bashing this game like other reviews. =)

to me graphics r important for an RPG, BUT I would never not play a great RPG with an awesome story and character developement due to graphic reasons. I play SNES and PS1 even today (games I play for the first time) and love them. This game looks like it could be a really good game. Of course a really great prasenation is nice for an RPG but story is more important

I totaly agree with the reviewer. Only game for hardcoregamers who love grinding and farming and wan't a fresh betlesystem which isn't easy at first and complex. People wo played world of warcraft for years wil probaly love this game and don't nag about the minor flaws. Rpg is never about graphics but about camplay, complexety an story. Noobs who claim the opposite have no right to judge. for axample... I could complain about the flat and simple gameplay about shooters. Everyone can rise->rating

There are actually two ways to play this game, and the easiest way to explain it is... self-determined difficulty curve.

Allow me to explain. This games "Level-up System" is based on "BR" (Battle Ranking), the higher the battle rank, the harder the enemies.

BR increases faster with higher enemy chains and larger enemy links in fights.

Fight 1 enemy at a time, overall low BR, overall easy game. Link lots of enemies, overall higher BR, overall hard(er) game.

BR = Difficulty. you can change it.

what you mean by rpgs are not know by their graphics.....yeah is not the 1st thing or the 2st ,but is the 3st! (1st=story ,2st=gameplay), just look at all Final fantasy series........... this game is wonderful ,is not their fault that Xbox360 and ps3 can't run very well becuz the pc version is just perfect ,No lags, 0.5 texture pop, =) and you can put super AA and everything looks perfect

Depends, how hardcore of a RPG fan are you? Do you like the really hardcore ones with the tons of equip and whatever, or are you a bit more leisure?

And, how familiar are you with the star ocean franchise are you? These both will factor in to your choice.

@kollerbackx4 .....I like last remnant much better, mostly because its turned base. But Star ocean is a blast, especially if you like the kingdom heart series. Another Rpg, if your just looking for good rpg's, Lost Odysey is down right one of the best rpg's ive ever played.

Graphically it's a lil laggy, with some pop in.

Game wise, it's a turn based game, so you're not buying gears of war ya know? It's slow, but you do have to be strategic with what you're going to do.

Umm, theres... 5 different races I think?

Yeah there's people with 4 arms (cat people), guys who kinda look like baggas from final fantasy tactics, some little floppy eared dudes, etc.

It is to a point like FF, it's just more like a war-based FF then a 4 V 2 or a 4 V 1, now it's like 25 V 50

The graphics aren't TERRIBLE, especially if you install it to your hard drive, it's just in battle things pop in and out

Great review. I watched the GameTrailers video review and the IGN video review, and they certainly have differing opinions on the game. However, since this is one of the only JRPGs coming to the PC, I'm pretty exited for it.

Good to know that the texture pop-in isn't any worse than Mass Effect (another superb video game), and the story seems strong. I love epic games like these, and it's comforting that a PC version is on the way.

Unfortunately, my PC is not anywhere near powerful enough to play games like this (last-gen games are fine, but current-gen games have the framerate of a PowerPoint presentation).

The reason I'm exited about this coming to the PC is because it's exiting for a JRPG to come to the PC at all. I'm a major JRPG fan, and I hope that this game is just a taste of JRPGs to come. Not saying that this game is the best or anything like that, but hopefull more JRPGs will make their way toward the PC.
