I catch a lot of spikes and place human trades against the price action caused by the HFT'ers.
Without my realtime screener I'd never catch these opportunities as they only last a few minutes. The profits can be anywhere between 1 - 3 % per trade and the trade amounts have to be small for your orders to be filled.
Although I use a bot, my actual trades are placed manually. You can either complain about HFT's or take avdantage of the extra liquidity they provide.
