@caryzia The intro was done by me and a friend (drums in my studio, the rest in his)...glad ya dig it!
You don't have to be able to read to do this. Just think about the groove more, pick it apart. You can take what I do with this groove and apply it to any groove. My book is on this whole concept.
Glad you found me on DC on FB...love DC! Look me up on FB as well if you'd like, I'm on there way to much, lol! If I can ever help ya, shoot me a line!
@janken919 Lol, Both. I always count the exercises...the only sure way to make sure you're consistent. And yea, you'll lose track. Counting is the sure fire way to stay in it. Glad you dug it!
Amazing concept. I have never thought of a basic beat this way. Can this work with any type of beat maybe a reggea, metal or even a jazz beat? or will it just mess it all up because of the designated sound for these types of styles?
@77billet Well, if you're going to play those styles authentically, then yes, it would "mess them up". That being said, you should try this with those styles. It just enhances your ability to think about the groove in a deeper way...and sometimes you come up with variations that actually work with the style of music. It's just a tool to help you explore different grooves and fills.
@imnotsure556 You bet...I tried to involve four way coordination with most of the exercises in the book. Glad you checked it out...NOW GO PRACTICE!!! ;^)
@plemyk That's a phenomenal book! And yes, it's similar b/c it's the same topic. I go way deeper into the topic than he does though (this is not saying he doesn't cover the topic well...I just apply it to grooves, fills, warm ups, and then expand on it more than he did in "Future Sounds"). If you're in his book, keep an eye out for the lessons I do from mine, you'll understand and dig them I think! And yes, WELL worth the effort.
This is great mon! ...who/what is the intro/opening song? I likes it a lot!!!
Re: : theme of vid/lesson:I do this on my own a little, but don't how to read....I need to get more 'mathematicaL' IN MY WHOLE APPROACH TO DRUMMING!
Thanks & Peace....Oh: saw this on FB Drummer connection

Great lesson!!! Are you counting while you play these displacements or have them memorized. I'd lose track!
