  • do u have to get a special back for the evo

  • @datboiace15 no, the whole point is that you take the guts from a Palm Pre battery cover and transfer them to the EVO's battery cover.

It's unclear if you come across this video by itself, but this is really just a supplemental item to other material elsewhere, it isn't a tutorial or much of anything by itself, just proof of results of something being described elsewhere.

  • It's too bad, I wish there was some convenient place you could post diverse media on a single related topic. pics, videos, audio, all mixed with text as a single post or document. I can't even post a link in a comment here back to the main tutorial that this refers to. Grr youtube...I guess Instructibles is sort of like that, but it's not exactly as convenient as facebook or youtube, first off, I don't think you can post for free.

  • Any tips on soldering the (+)? Based on the tutorial, that spot is super small and cramped. It was tough for me to hold the iron, solder, and wire all in one go. Got everything ready, just need this last wire. Thanks.

  • @genetiix

    A) Use a fine-tip 15watt soldering pencil, not a regular one. radio shack has them.

    B) Use fine gage solder but thats not actually too critical given the next item:

    C) Use the pencil to pre-load the destination spot with a little extra solder.

    D) Pre-load a little solder onto the wire. (IE: "tin" the wire)

    E) Put the solder down. Hold the wire in place with one hand and touch the heat to it a second with the other.

Wow thanks for these step by step tips! I will try this out tomorrow. The solder pic you posted on FB was beautiful. I hope to get mine half as decent. Will update you once completed!

  • i have try to do this for the longest time, i have peel off the unit from the back door of my pre and attached it to my evo, but i am having problems with the two wires, i dont know where to place them, i have try a number of combinations with the evo baterry, but it does not work, can you please show me where to place the two wires before i break my phone, i want it to work... thank you kindly....

  • @sanchez1793 Here ya go. I did almost the same as this guy.

...Grr Youtube won't let me post a link? pain in my ass.. google "evo touchstone tutorial" and it's the 2nd link. "How to mod..."

I used 26awg wrapping wire and I used the side of the usb connector for the negative instead of the screw hole he used.

  • good to know especially since so many pre users are evo:)
