This is a sad song, but realistic to how circumstances can break the integrity of people. It takes a real man not to deal or sell drugs and to handle his problems without gang ties, but so many Black boys don't have dads because they're locked up or dead. Black boys in the ghetto have to be the most insecure and they try to hide it by not letting people in, cussing, and killing. They're insecure about their people from lack of knowledge and the media teaches them to hate themselves and features.
