Google "Timeline of Terror". A nice website that details what we knew, and when we knew it. As early as 1968, there were concerns about planes hitting the WTC. And a B-29 bomber crashed into the Empire State Building in the late 40's (but not nearly the fuel or velocity of a jet, so the damage was minimal). Bin Laden was a serious threat to the US for many years, and while not necessarily an "inside job" as most of us picture it, 9/11 had been at least partially funded by rogue CIA assets.
