@MarcusWolschon I have added a link to the stepper motor I used to the end of the video description. The motor never gets warm, even during long prints so it doesn't require any kind of cooling. I suspect the MK6 stepper is way over specced so should have no problems with a gear driven extruder.
I was just interested in knowing if I could use this with the existing MK6-extruder oder get a new stepper first. If fixing my hot-end works next weekend, I hope to print me one of these setups on 28C3 right after xmas.

The default MK6 extruder is very weak in terms of force transfered to the filament.
Is it the same stepper used in the MK6?
Then I could upgrade to this one and hopefully solve many of my PLA problems.
