  • I love the movie!! I want a second part :X

  • whenever i hear about Ghilbi films i instantly get all excited and happy.. but the moment i watch them i get depressed :( because i know ill never be in a magical world filled with adventure and all sorts of danger and fun D:

  • I saw this movie and when i think about the ending my heart aches. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH....... this should really make a second part. Dont you agree?????????

  • What does Karigurashi mean?

  • @Kalivex "kari" is more or less hidden and "gurashi" is living

  • @Kalivex Borrower in Japanese - Karigurashi 借りぐらし

  • OMG! i just watched the japanese version with english subtitles and i was blown away! a previous ghibli movie of the same equivalence is like princess mononoke. and being equivalent to princess mononoke is impossible. this is another studio ghibli movie that blows every disney movie out the water hands down. everyone needs to get a copy of this movie! dont sleep on this movie! its beyond great

  • Can't wait till they dub it!

  • @SakuraXAngelXorXnot - NOOOOOOOOOOO. Keep it original! No rubbish voice actors!

  • Fantastic film. It may not be an EPIC MASTERPIECE like Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, or My Neighbor Totoro...but Karigurashi no Arrietty is just a wonderful adventure filled with a world you can truly enjoy. Characters touch your heart, artwork is always as fantastic as any other Ghibli film, and the soundtrack is awesome.

Plot of course is quite simple. You may guess what might happen next and what eventually might happen in the end. But hey...it's still a nice 90 minute movie.

  • Just call it Arriety, please

  • @soullessSiIence but why call it that when thats not the title of the movie? thats like saying "please call Lord of the Rings, the Rings"

  • I woke up to find this movie playing in my living room, absolutely beautiful, I LOVE IT! Oh how it almost made me cry at some bits. <3

  • Pause at 0:37 and admire

  • I feel soooooooo sad about miyazaki's age... his movies are truly wonderful and i will be sad if he passes away :(

  • @MrSnazzyness Me too, every time i see his movies i feel sad that he's getting older. He's such a blessing.

  • You can watch Kokurikozaka Kara Teaser Trailer【コクリコ坂から】on my YouTube Channel ^_^ Enjoy

  • Gosh what a beautiful movie. one of the best ones you can find these days that are new. the music, the story, everything was just beautiful. it realy gives you a warm feeling in your heart.

  • Fantástico!! una nueva pelicula de Ghibli

  • @shaayned Go to myanimestreaming*com/karigurashi-no-arrietty/

  • what happened to ghibli world site ....anyone have clue where are they now..thanks .

  • I think I heard Isao Takahata actually wished he let Miyazaki start directing movies earlier than he did. But I guess Takahata would be a great example of director who dosen't draw or animate but makes great movies like Grave of the Fire flies. But yeah I agree Miyazaki is defiantly hands on when it comes to making a film, which makes one appreciate the personal touch he gives to it.

  • @cyberlord64 what anime do you think is good then?

  • Can't wait to see it!

  • anyone know how i could watch this in english? (or with english subtitles)

  • la nueva joya de Ghibli

  • oh Cecile Corbel and Studios Ghibli.... o.o amazing!!!! =D

  • eeeeep! anyone know when this will hit Australia?

  • Ghibli is practically the only good anime studio left, the rest of anime is so shit!! someone needs to go back to making great anime again like ninja scroll.

  • @mrrrloc well there's your problem. you think Ninja Scroll is a good movie. not a bad one but there's so much better out there.

  • @Razakage fuck off shit cunt

  • @mrrrloc lol, you do know you gotta be over 18 to see Ninja Scroll.

  • @Razakage Go back to watching shitty anime with gay boys and retarded girls that try to make their voices sound cute.

  • @mrrrloc ahhh cm'on!! ninja scroll wasn't THAT good

  • I am going to lol so hard if this doesn't do well in the box office and Miyazaki shuts down Ghibli like he said he would if the film didn't do well.

Hayao Miyazaki fans will have egg on their faces and it will be delicious.

  • where u i can download this movie, with the original japanese audio?it was never released in my country :(

  • I feel Sorry for Gorō Miyazaki, as Hayao had chosen a different director (not himself) to lead the animation. I hope he can get through the despair of Earthsea trauma. :<

  • @TKLH27 Yeah but I don't think Goro can animate, he did some storyboards but flipping the animation and making the characters move is another story.

  • @Dalen77 directing the movie has nothing to do with directing animation. Goro was the director of the movie. The director could even be unable to draw and animate and still do a good job. But Goro showed he CANNOT direct movies. Yoshifumi Kondo was the real candidate as successor of Master Miyazaki. Unfortunately he died after directing the masterpiece "Whisper of the Heart", one of the best Studio Ghibli films ever...

  • @ghostdog7575 I dont get what your saying I thought Miyazaki directed this movie but because of his age he just draws less animation. As for Goro I think he has some talent but I dont think its like Miyazaki's, plus I think to be a great animation director you have to really be involved in working in animation for a long time, Goro was never a professional animator.

  • @Dalen77 i was just saying that Direction (direction of the whole movie as the director: director of an animated film), Direction of animation (the chief of the "chief animators", the animation director)are separate things. A director of movies can direct an animated movie even if he can't draw. The director of animation must be obviously a great animator with a very solid background. A good drawer is not necessarily a good animator, but Hayao Miyazaki is...

  • @ghostdog7575 Yeah I get what your saying, I'm not sure if Mamoru Oshi can draw but hes a pretty good director, I just think what sets the Miyazaki films apart from others is that he personally did alot of the animation in his movies especially in the key scenes. So there was more of an attention to detail of motion as well as the direction. If you look at the making of Princess Mononoke you can see this. Glen Kean also a great animator just directed the new Disney movie Tangled.

  • @Dalen77 Miyazaki can draw Mangas, can write screenplays, can draw storyboards and e-konte, can make the carachter design and the art direction. He his a real veteran of animation, starting as an inbeetweener in the 60s to reach in less than 10 years the grade of key animator and director of animation. That's why he is the best director for an animated movie... and he kinds of direct the Studio Ghibli... he founded it. A studio that makes a film from A to Z, no contracts and subcontracts...

  • @TKLH27 there is a big difference between "directing the movie" and being the animation director... Goro was the "director of Earthsea", not the "director of the animation in earthsea". I don't know if he can animate or direct the animation. But you don't need to be an animator to direct an animated movie... Anyway, Goro Miyazaki is really bad at directing...

  • @ghostdog7575 Also Miyazaki is one of the greatest animators ever and because he him self is such a great draftsman and animator I think this proves that to be a great animation director you really should be skilled as a great animator, Kondo by the way was one ot the best animators at Ghibli, which is why Miyazaki wanted him to direct. Kondo's first scene was the war god eploding and falling apart in Nausicaa.

  • I just saw this movie. its really good. definitely in my top 3 :)

  • @herrokate Where did you see it?

  • @Dalen77

im in japan right now so i was able to see it.

  • @herrokate Thats cool your in Japan, how would you rate the movie compared to Miyazaki's other movies.

  • @Dalen77

hmmm... im not sure.. this movie was better than ponyo though..

  • @Dalen77

im not really sure. this movie is in my tops though, and in my opinion better than ponyo.

  • @herrokate have seen the other movies ghibli has made? ive watched them all and ponyo was maybe top 3rd :P

  • @IamSerious1001

i havent seen all of them, but i think i saw most

  • @Dalen77 this is not directed by miyazaki....

  • i just found out about it recently

I CANT WAIT I LOVE ALL HAYAO MIYAZAKI MOVIES

    SO THIS MUST BE GOOD!!!!!!!!!!

  • i really cant wait for this!

  • No offence but i prefer old ghibli films.

  • 見に行ったけど、音楽が良かった。

  • Ghibli will produce another work of art.

Some american piece of shit will win the Oscar for Best Animated Movie.

There just isn't justice in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • @Radadinator You are serious? It astounds me that folks can have a hatred of films without giving a clear and concise reason onto why they have such hatred against them. There is a reason Pixar is as successful as a company as they are without folks like you making juvenile comments.

  • @gigerone I was being sarcastic. See the comment by the person I originally replied to.

  • @gigerone Sorry for any confusion. What I meant by the comment was something like "Dude, most of the movies that won that oscar are Pixar flicks, how can you even call them pieces of shit." I pretty much just wanna clear this up b/c I friggin' love Pixar and I'd never talk crap on any of their movies.

  • @Radadinator Funny thing that you mention this is that, John Lasseter, the Chief Director of Pixar have genuine respect for the Chief director of Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki. It should be noted that animators contribute each other, in the weirdest ways.

  • @Radadinator isn't oscars an american thing? and aren't the movies from japan, not american lol

  • ...best foreign film?

  • @sneakybeard the point being its a hell of a lot easier to get an oscar for a US movie than a Japanese that is all I was implying I myself love movies by pixar but, they are for kids. they aren't mature enough for me to actually get into the story other than laughing.

  • @sneakybeard no, best animation... but it also won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. And not as best animated movie but as the winner of the fest as best movie

  • @Radadinator i thought Wall - E was pretty good.....

  • @sharinganWS I was being sarcastic.

  • @Radadinator Ratatouille can lick my hairy balls

  • @Radadinator and exactly thoose pieces of shit made no sens at all it was a work of finished templates on pc took them some months.. ghibli is drawing 90% of the sht

  • @Barricade chihiros won an oscar

  • @Barricade i wish i had those exact same words :)

  • @Barricade actually a lot of undeserving entries win at the oscars. it's really unfair in that awards show.

indeed ghibli is a wonderful animation studios deserving of another oscar!

  • @Barricade

The UK does English dubs too. Just saying.

  • @Tejina91 BUT WHEN!?

  • @duckym92

    That I do not know.

  • @Barricade oscar is shit anyway, cant believe you still watched those... its an all rigged, political event using entertainment as a media and the voters are all numb nuts and bonker dont know shit about what a good movie are. and its widespread speculation that everyone who won oscar turned into a giant turd in the end. and im glad ghibli only had 1 oscar so far

  • @Barricade You're right but the fake Oscar does not matter, it's all bullshit.

  • @Barricade dont worry that sell big over in japan

  • @Barricade word. and much kudos for you sir, for saying this! I totally agree!

  • Ive watched it yesterday. Best movie since Spirited Away!! Brilliant!

  • @Rainelfy

    I totally agree with you.

  • studio ghiblis' movies are the best !!

  • @flatwheels01

    Really!!?

    Give me a ticket!!!!

    Enjoy Arrietty^^

  • Got my ticket and 2 meter wide free poster from the Lawson Convenience Store...now counting the days..3 left...

  • this French singer sent a letter and demo tape to Ghibli and the producer,Suzuki

    adopted her.

  • I'M WAITING IN ASIA...

  • can't wait for this!!!!!

  • I wonder if we will ever get to watch this here.. aussie mate!

  • Wonder when it comes to UK?

  • @Jiuyal2406 It will be a whyll yet because they get translated into English first witch take ages to do. So i rekon around this time in 2011

  • @oldschool619619 Okay. do u think its got English sub on the dvd? cause friend is asking if I want anything from tokyo.

  • @Jiuyal2406 No it wont have it will be in jap still with english texted writeing. Untill it come over to the US were it gets dubed over the English and then it come over to the uk

  • @oldschool619619 okay, thats good to know its subbed.

  • Jiburi recent anime, the anime feel worse than the first time. However, this animation would be satisfied.

  • the house at the beginning looks oddley similar to mei and satsuki's house

  • according to wikipedia (cause everyone knows that wikipedia is so reliable haha) hayao miyazaki has signed on with studio ghibli to make 2 more feature films over the next 3 years!!! i hope its true, his ones are my favourite studio ghibli productions! although the others of course are still really good

  • Ghibli!

  • Oh my...Once more a fantastic story!

  • i am really looking forward to seeing this. i watched the bbc adaption of the borrowers when i was younger so its great that studio ghibli are remaking it. i am i little sceptical about the music though. it seems a bit too folksy for my liking (bring back the orchestral wonder of howls moving castle) but im a sucker for little things in a big world and the background paintings are lovely.

  • can't wait to see it

  • I love their works!

but their last movie was really disappointing! =(

    however this one looks promising~

  • SORRY to say that ghibli films are not what they used to be since hazao miyazaki left. The last movie that moved me was howl's moving castle, and ponyo i din even borther to watch it. Hope this movie changes my perception

  • @jahurz93 WHAT, HE LEFT!?!?!

  • @RandyBoyz92 left as in no longer the main story writer of the story but he still directs them

  • やっぱジブリ神

    ちなみにKelboさ何を言いたいんだよ

  • Oh thank goodness! Let this wipe away the screaming brat pre-school theme of Ponyo! Back to the enchanting storytelling of classic Ghibli films! :)

  • Magical! Look to the Artwork of this movie OMG! Is PERFECT!

  • AWESOME!!!! EVEN AWESOMER MUSIC! and yet, why is BRS in the related vids section....?!

  • @HaninozukoKyo

BRS is related in quantity of badassery.

  • @HaninozukoKyo

Hm? Arrietty and BRS are badasses both, and thus, they are related.

  • @kelbo1rox2your3sox please shut up

  • @HaninozukoKyo

lolwut. Sorry, but I fail to see how that response is at all called for. You asked why BRS is in the related videos, I replied crediting Arrietty and BRS both to be pretty cool things--thus relating them. Has this managed to offend you? I could type this out in French too, if you'd like.

  • Studio Ghibli is amazing. I'm still unable to get over the beauty of Spirited Away. Yay for more from SG. :D

  • wow really beautiful art work

  • i dont get it, whats it supposed to be about?

  • @SparksYukiSparks have you ever seen the movie the borrowers?

  • @HelTra91 no

  • @SparksYukiSparks k, well basically it's about this boy and his family who are being kicked out of their house and in their house lives a family known as "the borrowers" and they are like mini people and when they find out that the boy is being kicked out they have no choice but to relocate too because the house is going to be demolished. the movie is based on the borrowers and the boy trying to find the document saying that they house belongs to them. i loved it as a kid

  • @HelTra91 Actually,(don't get me wrong, I used to love that movie as a kid too) it was a book series, which was very different from that movie. The plot I'm guessing would be more like the book(maybe, ponyo wasn't a whole too much like the little mermaid).

  • Ghibli >>> Disney

  • i'm so looking forward to watching this ^^

  • I would much prefer if the English title were just Arrietty instead of The Borrower Arrietty. Adding Borrower just doesnt really flow as well.

  • @punkjl but if they do as you suggested it sounds like "ariel"

  • @UlquiorraNo4 not really no, as there is no l, and 2 T's and a Y, LOL. Arrietty does not at all sound like Ariel. Its a Ghibli movie, not Disney, who cares what it sounds like. Bottom line is, adding "Borrower" just doesnt sound good.

  • Once you've discovered Ghibli you never go back to Disney!

  • @minervali What if you like both. Some Disney films i like, some not. Most Pixar i like and I do not care for all Ghibli either, however most i can watch.

  • @minervali hey, disney is not bad and their movies are really well done. not as good as ghibli, but still better than many shitty animes or other.

  • so true

  • @minervali not true :p

  • I can't wait for this! Studio Ghibli can really outbeat the likes of Disney and Pixar!

  • Another Ghibli film? Already? :D

Can't wait for it to come to the UK. I'm a huge Studio Ghibli fan. I've seen them all except Ocean Waves.

  • I like :)

  • This is meant to be based on The Borrowers, or basically IS The Borrowers, if you've seen the other film called The Borrowers with John Goodman in, you'll see both the girl's are called Arrietty. (:

  • i Swear at the biggining of that song at 0:28 she sings the words 'i'm 14 years old, i am pretty' does she? its wierd coz she sings the rest in jap xD
