i know of a few drummers who don't wear their rings during shows. i am assuming it's so the ring doesn't fall off or get scratched up. some may not wear a ring because it's uncomfortable. as long as his wife doesn't have a serious issue with it, it's all good... and wearing it on a necklace makes it closer to his heart... corny but valid argument.
