Your duty is not to bad mouth others, especially not those who have obviously put there lives on the line so that this country can continue to offer humanitarian support around the world as well as protect U.S. interest both foreign and domestic.
Now this is not to say that all military personnel are this way, in fact I have confidence so much in this country that I believe that there are only an ignorant, egotistical few who rant on about their so called "alpha male" qualities. I support this countries military, and I am just as patriotic as any person in the military. I carry with me values and morals that have been directly shaped from those 3 principal ideas. I thank you all for your service to this country

The true Americans who support life,liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are the ones who on a scholarly level actually understand those concepts. The solution isn't always through brute force, most of the time a perfectly acceptable and equatable solution can be worked out through diplomacy.

PTSD has existed for as long as humans, its only recently (as in since the end of WWI) started getting documented - it doesn't matter what army or what unit you're in, you're still a fucking human being.
Btw PTSD is documented in US special forces and SAS veterans. You can't "train" the mind from getting traumatised.. that's impossible. You can only train people to cope with certain situations better.

my late father was a WW2 partially disabled vet. He was still filled with shell fragments up to the day he died at 83 years old. The physical problems were only part of his issues......he drank a lot and had a hair trigger temper most of his life. I think he used alcohol to calm his nerves from post combat stress. He like President Eisenhour did not trust the military industrial complex.
shawn should realize that his friend would be proud that he was able to do what he signed up for....to face the danger in someone elses stead...to die (if need be) so that others do not have to die....and in this case he was able to take the hit for shawn......suicide would make his friends sacrifice meaningless....live a good life for your friends sake ....and enjoy every minute of it..

Imagine the sheer terror soldiers experienced in the trenches during WWI or the unimaginable slaughter of the U.S. civil war. We've heard stories or the horrors of the war in Vietnam and even seen them on the big screen. A warzone is an unreal environment that no man should ever have to endure.
