  • my home town were i was born patillas,pr

  • What a horrible camera man.

  • Beside this vid is from pr, not DR.

  • love the vid!

  • @LoneCuetlachtli the average domnican has no more than 10% taino. most dominicans are black or mulattos with little to no taino heritage whether they like it or not. they aren't triracials like afro brazilians, colombians, and panamanians. i always tell them if the dominican republic were predominantly taino and spanish, the island would look more like mexico or other mestizo countries. they make themselves look so delusional and in denial when they say stupid shit like that. :/

  • @exocticbeauty there arent many amerindians left in the world so there is nothing wrong with mixed people keeping the race alive......

  • Vs? My bad I mean u 2 can look it up*

  • No one says or claims pure Taino bloods, we mostly says mixed bloods simple as that especially I met one Dr lady she doesn't look black or white Spaniard more.like native u 2 vs. Google it up her names irka mateo its rare to see like that.

  • @LoneCuetlachtli lol u know whats even funnier than puerto ricans claiming taino blood? the dominicans. jaja. i've actually met domincans who look like sammy sosa (before the bleach job) who told me the explanation for their dark skin is their taino indian blood. lmfao! xD

  • @exocticbeauty If you're such a snobby purist then you should be watching Celtic dances, which are native to Spain; or African tribal dances. You have no business complaining about videos that you don't even like.

  • @PoisonOnHisLips wow, why so bitter? what did i say to offend u? -confused-

  • orgulloso de ser un indio taino!!

  • Han Tiao, no worry guakia ro guakia yucayekes, yaya cacona guari ;)

  • If you have a population of people like us which his DNA is 65% percent Taino. In time that 1.5% of European DNA and some of the 12.7% African DNA will be excluded or degraded to a recessive traits.

  • Lone has an arijuna gringo in his DNA. And That is Opil's clan.

You can argue time and time over about the ancestry. But is not about you look. Its about what is in you heart and soul. The tainos we were subjected by a lot of lies created by the government. Mostly by the gringo goverment who was very scared about the mountain people. They construct an immense web of lies and deceit. A science fact: There something called genetic resettlement is a process when some gene are excluded form the DNA.

  • Oh and sorry didn't see the other video I just get on thank u for respond ;)

  • That have native bloods mixed doesn't mean we can't be natives, since some of us raised and taught the way of tainos tradition that still keeps go on hidden until now we can reveal what we knows, yukahu cacona guari :)

  • Oh we know about autosmal dna my family does have strong native looks except 3 of us light skinned plus none black looking what's important is grandparent or so that still carrying on is our culture and tradition, especially we do dance exactly same like arawak aka Lokono today, didn't know til I saw them do same as we do, the dna created by white man with fractions n such I don't care but we do know that we r mixed some other p Ricans doesn't have it depend where they came ftom, but some of us

  • Lone, euros is higher in our bloods with ydna but if we switches to mtdna then natives is higher than euros, basically mixed bloods....the dnas is kinda strange and complicated but those dnas created by white man's fractions which I don't seems care or follow their ways and 2nd culture such as ceremonies, dances etc etc were carry on generation by generation taught to their children to grand children goes on especially they danced extact same arawak aka Lokono do.

  • @LoneCuetlachtli don't classify all of us tribes in the US in one lump sum - most of our tribes are still 100% - including mine in the midwest

  • @soxmonki If you really care about being pure Native American that much, then you fall under the definition of a racist.

  • I wonder what the dance they are doing is about. I am from the taino tribe but im just a tad but clueless of our people anyone wanna clear somethings up for me?

  • taino pow wow

  • more power 2 them!

  • The girls have a beautiful hair. They are beautiful.

  • WOW I thought they were all dead and the one's who survived spanish rule mixed with the African slaves and white Spaniards which formed me as a Puerto Rican but theses people look straight Indian!

  • My Great Great Grandmother was fullblood Taino and I'm proud to have this heritage to pass on to my children and grandchildren

  • No matter what culture you are brought up into, that DNA has a lot to do with who you are, how you think, and how you act. Surely one can be brought up in a culture, but your innate spirituality and your genes distinguish you from others. A Caucasian child, brought up in an African indigenous society, make talk like an African, or act like one, but he has certain traits that are different from an African, an I am not talking physical. Every human has traits that are different from others.

  • I'm a little Taino, from my Puerto Rican mother's side, and i would love to learn more about my ancestor's culture. It's so interesting

  • @celestecristal852 If you want some help with that, ask me when ever you need.

  • @celestecristal852 Jennifer Lopez is has Taino blood.

  • @CrazyNative4 about what, exactly?'

  • @budfr never mind, i'm going to bed, good night!

  • and as a Native peep in the US - I say - if and when Puerto Rico eventually becomes the 51st (as we lovingly call them) - we will have another tribal nation (Taino) joining the ranks of all the other tribes in the US dealing with BIA, IHS, etc. :) When that day comes - Welcome! :)

  • @soxmonki There are hundreds of Indian or Amerindian nations in all the American continent. I prefer Puerto Rico to remain independent. I admire Amerindian culture I am from Mexico.

  • cool

  • these people are doing santeria, an african ritual. and they clame to be taino? lol

  • the real tainos were naked, not wearing FAKE Hopi or Apache war paint

que falta de verguenza estos pendejos acomplejado

take this shit to DisneyLand and talk to the fake sharks and dancing mice.

    what a joke

  • I think it's pretty cool, they are playing native Taino instruments (including the mayahuacan, which giovanni hidalgo uses in his cd time shifter and sounds awesome) Obviously they can't do things naked cuz that would be illegal now in PR and they can't use PR cotora feathers cuz they're endangered and they are reviving their past which has been forgotten, that is what native americans do as well in the US.

  • my cat is pure taino too

    she told me

  • @hwise1

No need help from dominica...its already taught by our taino's relative arawak from south america

  • cuando es que celebran esto?

  • Just a heads up for everybody who thinks they cannot reclaim themselves...most of us northern Natives do not know our full ceremonies nor language. The pow wow is pretty much a joke. Oh, it gets the community together but sometimes there is a mockery of spiritual dances, like the jingle dress dance..which should be a healing pray dance...etc. It's called adaptation. These will evolve as they will need to. I wish the Indigenous of Dominica would help them.

  • wow, even NIKE was around then..LOLS

  • What's interesting is that without the brutality of the Europeans, the beautiful self-aware cultures of the modern-day Antilles and Bahamas would not exist as they do today.

  • There are no more pure 100% Taino people left in the caribbean so to those trying to be something they are not give it a rest already!

  • @hgallo690 your wrong i am 100% taino like the rest of my family and that whas actually something stuped for you to say since you dont know about other peoples family trees

  • @hgallo690 your wrong i am 100% taino like the rest of my family and that whas actually something stuped for you to say since you dont know about other peoples family trees

  • You are killing me that is not how you do the "walk of the spirits"

  • @CEBLOOMS Taino = diferent culture to the north american indian... you know...

  • @MsDude4444

yeah. reading your comment adds insult to injury.

  • and don't take for granted that 60% of the puertorican DNA is taino

  • @PUNKDUDE1991 EXAC T

  • what many people dint know in Puerto Rico is that in 1840 a whole yucayeque (taino village) was found in the mountainous region of Maricao by a some plantation owner that were looking for lost slaves....they founded...the exact same way it was depicted by the first Spanish writers of PR. they were left alone but the slaves were taken....this people are from that area of the country

  • wow! This is a great dramatization of what Taino culture and areytos could have been like!! Love the music too.

  • Lies, stolen history, The spaniards brutalized the Tainos. Now this fake crap.

  • indigenous people never dissapeared.

  • in many places yes...dominica not the dominican republic is the only island that has real amerindians

  • @ADRIANR2D Please tell them again~This is the great lie being told to North, South, Central America & Caribbeans so they can't claim the land as aboriginal but as a slave with no sovereignty. The Americas is still under one master and the bitch is still in England. 12-African/Arawak/Tainos women are the mothers of Puerto Rico all of the people can trace themselves back to these 12 women.

  • @CEBLOOMS All it is ignorance/

  • i totally agree!

  • @MsDude4444 you could just praise them for reclaiming their cultural heritage instead of mocking them like some ignorant anus hair.

  • @MsDude4444 Fuck off!!!

  • @AjPuj

  • @AjPuj NO LUCK FOR YOU , TAINO FRON THE CAVE OF MISTERY

  • @MsDude4444 For you this may b e fake but, what do you know how our hearts dictates our souls especially when we have Taino blood and genes that run through our veins. You see, you may not understand, we are a live nation.

  • @MsDude4444 agreed my great grandparents are still angry.

  • @MsDude4444 what's so fake about it?

  • @MsDude4444 whas so fake about it? tainos indians still exsit and such ti just that they counted out of exsitence thats why peope dont know about them.

  • ignorante! Hermoso

  • taino music and dance sucks

  • yo mama sucks it harder

  • thats because they made it up,.they have no idea how it sounds or the dances,.they read it all from books and pictures and are faking it!

  • @basskillaz Let me get this right, you go from taino video to taino video here on youtube and trash talk...now you tell me who is pathetic...get a life.

  • missjenni i have a good life thank you very much, someone sent the videos to me in humor,we thought it was funny because we are native americans living on a reservation, speaking our own language and our dances and ceremonies and our whole culture is for real, people actually call you guys puerto rican new agers, because you guys have no idea what your doing and just making it up.

  • that just has to do with the whole taino thing, but i must say that puerto rican women are the most beautiful women in the world, and i loveeeeeee the food!!

  • Comment removed

  • i like the goat and ox tails!! lmao

  • The "National Indigenous Festival" (Festival Nacional Indígena) which honors the memory of Hayuya and the Taino heritage is celebrated annually on November in the town of Jayuya, Puerto Rico. This year will take place on November 19-22 making it the 40th year of this festival. There is a monument of Hayuya, the only one of its kind to be dedicated to a Taino Cacique, located in Jayuya's Cultural Center next to a Taino tomb.

  • Festival Indigena de Jayuya, Puerto Rico this November 19-22, 2009

  • Taino blood runs through my mother's line, through my grandmother, great-grand mother, etc. The purity stopped with my siblings because my father has the mixed blood of either Spanish, Portuguese and/or Asian.

  • My fathers grandmother completely look taino, she has had a female taina hairstyle since she was little

  • my grandmother wore a pony tail, but that didn't make her a horse

  • i have some taino. my mothers grandmother was taina. wow thats great!!!!! taino love

  • taino pride!

  • Wow, It's great to see that the Tainos survived. All this time I thought that they were gone.

  • I just found out through DNA testing that I have some Taino heritage through my great grandmother! Wow! Now I know why I have always felt an affinity for Native Americans. As to the poster who said the government will protect Taino and other tribes---- I hope you were talking tongue in cheek. 'Cause the government has shown for years that their "protection" amounts to subjugation and containment in poverty stricken reservations.

  • Yea gothteach is right, most natives doesn't trust the govt that much anyway even me too I am mixed Taino native and proud of it....me and my taino ppl doesn't want anything with govt anyway.

  • Yes...right. The US will definitely protect us...just like they did at Wounded Knee and Black Kettle Creek. No, thanks. We are fine the way we are.

  • This is a nice video it shows people who are not familiar with Taino culture a bit of what it is 5 stars! =)

  • :\ the culture of puertoricans are a combination of the tainos, africans and spain wich makes what we are today Puertoricans or as some may say to insult us Jibaros. its true that the indians where a big part of out culture but it dosent define us in the least.

  • I carry the word Jibaro in the front of my head, and im proud of it! No idea why u dont like being called that!

  • Its the context in what its used jibaros where ineducated, analphabets that where like a possetion to Spain and EEUU, Thats why i dont like it, if they say it it would be in a form of insult, your better start scratching that jibaro off your forehead my friend

  • I know, but jibaro was also a person with dignity, honor, lots of courage. And they busted their asses working to sustain the family. I dont care bout the bad parts, they mean nothing to me.

  • Taino pride!! Daka Taino kurixia ke mabuya juracan ke anki ua wakia nichi Tainos wa anxihi ah waribo, yukahu cacona uara.

  • viva puerto rico viva taino forever

  • if you think you can do better, do it......Stop complaining about what you don't want in your lives, we do,punto.

  • i am very proud of my ancestry and my culture. Thank you for this video!! :-)

  • comment on video. It's great to see people trying to revive the culture of the Tainos, but at what expense? You must first get organized and have a program together in order to be respected and not ridiculed. I admire your efforts, but take the constructive criticism we give and apply it to your next event. Dont be discouraged, continue your efforts in a more positive and respectful manner.

  • Puerto Rico!!!!!! taino all day

  • i mean 61% and/or higher Mtdan ricans has Taino mixed blood but not higher more than 90% and on other ydna side europeans has higher % but not 100% pure white, face it we all are mixed man.

  • Celnaz I said majority mixed taino natives 65% living in puerto rico.....not dna like u said rican has 18% indian dna....pay attention and no on mtdna side some ricans has 75% or higher on different inividuals but not over 90% and as for ydna side european has high % but not pure white like 100% and other...we r basically mixed races accept it man

  • When I said 65% majority puerto rican people with Taino natives in their bloods living in puerto rico that's show 35% non mixed Taino in their bloodlines but europeans and/or african descents living in puerto rico, do u get it?

  • I am Puerto Rican, but I am of European heritage.

  • u can find out by type the site or keyword "puerto ricans' MtDna" i dont know if u already read it or not yet but what u hear from is basically lies they were not completely wiped out.

  • spanish doesnt mean have to be white person, we are mixed with Taino native also spaniards and some africans as 3 races or 2 races depend where they came, they can do ceremonies and such thats bec they are also mixed natives and will stay tradition or culture that way and not be forgotten.

  • The Iberians moved from Germany to Spain hence it is called the Iberian Peninsula.

  • and by the way 65% (not dna percents) "majority "puerto ricans have Taino bloodlines l
