our family would like to help. we could provide free accommodation in our home here in california. preferably those who are at the evacuation sites. we love japan as we lived there for 5 years (u.s. naval base), love the people and the culture. we also hosted japanese students studying english here in america.
I was born in Japan in 1954, and until I was about 10, never thought there was a difference between Japanese and Americans, save a language and a different history.
I am a Wiccan, and through an organized (how unlike us!) Pagan effort, Pagans have raised $30,000 in two weeks or less, for Doctors Without Borders. As always, I wish I could do more, but drop by drop, we turn a mill.
I'm Japanese in Japan. Mr. Sulu / Mr.Kato gives a nice message to us from Japanese Americans. Japanese people might feel strange to hear the song of Gaman because we do not sing like this about Gaman. However, the meaning of words can often be changed in the context of cultures. In the society of Japanese immigrants in the US, both Gaman and Shikata-ga-nai represent the personality of Japanese. I have a objection against it; though, what Geroge Takei wants to say is OK.

@cgmmv I'm Japanese in Japan and this Faggot George Takei is an embarrassment to Japanese! He's like the youth of Japan in Tokyo. Sucking foreign cock and is heavily influenced by westernization. Just look at this stupid video. He has a filipino monkey singing in that improper accent Gaman. FUCK THIS FAGGOT GEORGE TAKEI! DON'T INVITE ALL THESE FUCKING WANNABE JAPANESE THAT THEY'RE ALL JAPANESE!
@kyokonkyochin This isn't about George Takei, this isn't about gay people, this isn't about how to pronounce a word, its about helping Japan in a time of crisis, doesn't matter if you're Japanese or not, we're all human beings, and right now all the human beings in Japan need help, and if anything you're a wannabe Japanese. You're people need help, and you'd rather insult George Takei who is willing to give a helping hand and wants to inspire others to help as well. People like you make me sick

@GLWillaims Even in a developed nation, a major disruption to food production and distribution infrastructure can create massive food shortages in a very short time. The more concentrated the population in a city, the more quickly food stocks on the shelves run out. And if more isn't delivered right away, hunger, especially in bad conditions, becomes acute. Add to this the fact that homes and warehouses were literally washed away in places, and even supplies in those places are gone. ='[.]'=

Context is everything. and he is right, in context because if you dont feel for the Japanese in this time of need, you are not even human. So, yeah, we HUMANS are all Japanese at a time like this.
Watch a Pre-January 8th copy of Inception. Listen closely when the actors say imagine, reality, safe, and envelope, or point pistols. You'll hear the words, Loughner, offin' her, part of the word Giffords, and much more. Some say they hear, do it.

question is : how can a nation as Japan be so unprepared ? Any country in the west would handle that catastrophe better ! What happened with competent people in Japan ?
@mojoboy1984, they spent a lot of money to prepare for this acctually, all the structures were built under strict regulations for earth quakes and they got many people to high ground or safe areas before the tsunami hit
Japan will be fine. They are fighters and one of the most intelligent nations in the world. However, they are still human and need our support. Please do whatever you can to help this wonderful country. Namaste.
At times like these we are all Japanese? Wow, I am so glad that Japan may be becoming less Xenophobic. I love Japan and it's people - just a shame that it took such a disaster to show a nation that it is not independant from the rest of the world. Anybody feel the same about this?
@Hexenblut9 japan is my favorite country, but indeed many japanese, mostly elders, hate foreigners, they were isolated from the rest of the world and their hatred and fear was fueled by world war and other conflicts, they have their reasons to hate everyone, unless world peace will be established, there will still be xenophobic people in japan even after this disaster, it's only natural
BTW, songs don't help countries they just help artists' careers, and only inspire a very small amount of people to actually donate, what makes people donate is making inspiring videos and giving good reasons, not songs, so please don't waste your time making songs, and start making inspirational videos or something creative
@IncoherentCommenter Dude, she's a teenager, give her a break. Everyone starts out young and everyone learns things as they get older. The only thing that's a failure is that you're either a liar calling a young person a failure or a 90 year old calling a young person a failure. Get over yourself and grow up as much as you think EnvyNarutoGirl should. Don't be a hypocrite.
Too many disasters....too many corrupt aid organizations. I donated a lame $50 to the haiti relief fund to some christian aid network and learned later they bought bibles with my
money.....personally i didnt believe you can feed too many people with bibles but apparently
i was wrong. Sadly, that country still looks like hell today.
sounds like something a religious group would do, greedy bastards! they just bought bibles because its easier to brainwash people when they don't have anything left. root of all evil starts above money its religion. blood suckers!
the women in the photo with the blanklet looking gout to the hoprizon reminds me of a movie called "titanic"...wearr rose is wearing a brown tan pladd blankett to keep hurr .. mm .mmmm same one huhuhh..sku that ...any ways ..it also reminds me of "the women waiting in the forest".. photo and painting..!..haev yuo jhelped wuith th e relief of japan in any way ..even makeing a veduio for relating info helps ...you tube it !!
If you are reading this than you know there is something very wrong with our society & we have become misguided. Take a moment and free yourself from all the endless distraction around you. If there is anything we must learn in this journey of life it is... to honor the felt presence of direct experience and reflect love in all we do.
If this beautiful plea doesn't touch your heart...nothing will. We ALL must share our blessings with our brothers and sisters in the far east in their time of need.
disasters such as this... occurring in modern societies where the majority of the victims are educated, especially in a society like Japan that places a high value on engineering education... this disaster may have costs that we can never know... who knows what children have been killed, what aspiring college student... what genius has been lost to humanity on this day... its not just a loss for Japan but all of humanity
I hope that all of Japan gets better and that everyone is helping each other and getting help from foreign countries as well. Japan, you are a great country and nation! God has not abandoned you, so the rest of the world will not abandon you either.
OMG im sorry for the ppl who lost someone and please remain safe im hopeing that all the ppl artists and authors and anime craters are fine without them half of my childhood is gone and my life it wouldnt be the same without japan actaually think how some of us depend on japan im so going to try to help out
Japanese have such a strong culture with strong values that even during a hurricane they form a line for miles just to get a handfull of food and water. They value education, community and citizenship. They teach their young to value helping others, live as a community not as one, and get an education. In America, after Katrina, Americans were breaking store windows and beating each other up to get food. It was complete chaos. Americans don't value any of the things the Japanese do. Help Nihon
Thank you for your message Mr. Takei. I have been feeling down because I have only been able to donate a little $ and make a video to inspire people to help. It still feels like it's not enough but I now feel at least I have done something worth while.
Keep helping everyone! there are tons of ways to help out not just giving $ search the web.
@RandomTask2008 yeah, guess what, every country has people that do that, its not like your country wherever you live is perfect, but you weren't hit with a natural disaster such as this were you? they deserve help they are America's ally
@warrennguyen08 You miss my point I live in the US and people here think they are" ENTITLED" to whatever they want even if it means murder, rape, looting during a crisis. During hurricane Katrina down south even the police were looting the stores! We didn't here about any such goings on in Japan. We all could learn from them how to get along in a disaster such as this!
japan goverment is very rich ! no money help needed at all. the real help the sufferred japanese need is the rescue efficiency and ability of japan goverment .

@EnvyNarutoGirl well bitching on the internet won't help
husnain404 11 months ago
BTW, songs don't help countries they just help artists' careers, and only inspire a very small amount of people to actually donate, what makes people donate is making inspiring videos and giving good reasons, not songs, so please don't waste your time making songs, and start making inspirational videos or something creative

@EnvyNarutoGirl fucking failure
IncoherentCommenter 9 months ago

Sadly, that country still looks like hell today.
civicnation4two 11 months ago
@civicnation4two
sounds like something a religious group would do, greedy bastards! they just bought bibles because its easier to brainwash people when they don't have anything left. root of all evil starts above money its religion. blood suckers!

If you are reading this than you know there is something very wrong with our society & we have become misguided. Take a moment and free yourself from all the endless distraction around you. If there is anything we must learn in this journey of life it is... to honor the felt presence of direct experience and reflect love in all we do.
To see the world in a Grain of Sand
And Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour. ~ William Blake
I love you all

disasters such as this... occurring in modern societies where the majority of the victims are educated, especially in a society like Japan that places a high value on engineering education... this disaster may have costs that we can never know... who knows what children have been killed, what aspiring college student... what genius has been lost to humanity on this day... its not just a loss for Japan but all of humanity

The Japanese are amazing. You never hear of them murdering, raping, looting or police killing innocent people through this tragedy! VERY STRANGE!
RandomTask2008 11 months ago
@RandomTask2008 yeah, guess what, every country has people that do that, its not like your country wherever you live is perfect, but you weren't hit with a natural disaster such as this were you? they deserve help they are America's ally
warrennguyen08 11 months ago 25
@warrennguyen08 You miss my point I live in the US and people here think they are" ENTITLED" to whatever they want even if it means murder, rape, looting during a crisis. During hurricane Katrina down south even the police were looting the stores! We didn't here about any such goings on in Japan. We all could learn from them how to get along in a disaster such as this!
RandomTask2008 11 months ago
We hope for a qucik recovery for Japan. Be strong. you will overcome this. Regards from Sri Lanka.

Yes Japan is a wealthy nation but they are heavily indebted.
Prior to this Tsunami they were planning major cuts but now they face a situationt that will exacerbate their debt crisis.
