  • Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee, and looks like a black widow.. Actually it's just a fly in fancy dress!!

  • I got one in my house in the landing...

  • Just serviced a boiler and came across one of these, pretty tiny compared to the real black widow and doesn't have the markings at the bottom but still scary stuff, still getting shivers from it!!

  • got one bout 4m from me at the momment lol but in all truth they aint gunna kill you nobodys been killed by spiders for the past 50 years

  • and i'm scared to go to bed now D:

  • a kid in my town was bitten by one of these recently

  • there was one at work today =o

  • i just found one in my hallway today i live in dorset. been looking on the net today and they are becoming more common in the UK

  • The bite from these are not good, blister, hot and cold swets for two days and I still have the bite marks from three weeks ago

  • These are from the UK, i live in the south of england where they came over from the canary island i think in some bananas over 100 years ago, i get these a lot in my flat, there is 1 under my bed but im not bothered by it,

  • i left my old bed mattress out in the back garden for 4 waiting for the local rubbish collectors, 4 days later i found 4 or 5 flase Widow spiders clinging on to them, didnt know which species they were, had never seen them before in the UK

  • @miltonatchet Why not just put it out the window?

  • im from dorset, i've had one in my bathroom for about a year, infact just this morning locked a big fly in the bathroom and watched it fly right into the web. i've named him keith for laughs.

  • this is actually a male black widow has really no venom considered danergous to a human i can tell this is a male because of the white -ish markings on its back.

  • THumbs up if the music made you nervous in watching the rest of the video! XO

  • The spiders all like - "I'mma eatchu when i get outta this, bitch >:D"

  • So if you think it's called a False Widow, why did you decide to call it a False Black Widdow? Because it's more dramatic?

It's like saying "I think the right name is a cold, but I decided to call it cancer"

  • there was a guy at the store who got bit by one of these and he put it into a container to show the doctors. lol he stopped by the stoor to buy some food 1st- eventualy i found out it was my friends dad and he didnt go to the hospital. but major swelling did occur. and i told myself this couldnt be a black widow otherwise he'd be dead or close to it. i didnt know about these false black widows. nice vid. looked exactly like it.

  • Thats actually a black widow spider!

  • @droidekalane er no its not, I have seen many black widows in Texas and this is not a true black widow and black widow spiders are not actually that big

  • @chelly63 its called a false black widow we have theme in uk some guy recently got bit 10 times on the neck wile out shoppin its all over the news and we have them all over cornwall at bottom of the uk

  • @dyrdek2011 Yes I know its a false black widow, I was responding to droidekalane who was saying it was actually a true black widow spider, of which I have seen a fair few in Texas and this is not one. Also the false black widow is not now just seen in the south west of England, due to the overall change in climate its now been seen up here in East Anglia, a friend found one in her bedroom, must say that they are pretty mean looking

  • @chelly63 i found one myself in st ives cornwall where i live nasty looking things

  • Thats actuallya black widow spider!

  • There's one in my room above my bed right now. It's 2:30am in England now and I don't wanna wake my mum and say there's a black widow in the house cuz she's terrified of spiders.

I don't know what to do! It went in the lower corner of my room and it might come back tomorrow!

It had like a red T marking on its butt and the butt had a black/red glow when it was dangling down in my room with my light reflecting through it!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!

  • its coming to me???? i live in poland an i never see a black widow spider...

  • it's in my room i don't know what to do

  • omg im acctually shitting it

  • Mixed comments on here... The false widow can be dangerous but not deadly. It is only those that are allergic to the venom that it will be dangerous to. I unfortunately have seen hundreds of these spiders on the south coast. If you see one kill it! They spread like wildfire and if you see one you will probably have loads more close by!

  • The false widow spiders are not dangerous!! The person who got bitten, went to hospital due to an alleric reaction to the venom. Just like people who are allergic to bee venom, some people can be allergic to a certain species of spider venom. If you were to get bitten by this spider, the area around the bite will be a little tender and swollen. Nothing to worry about.

  • They won't send you to the hospital

  • Was clearing out my garage the other day when i came across a few of these little buggers, not very nice looking things gotta say but, oh well their squished now so its okays!

  • @xMoTionZRipSawx nice take um out

  • these things are rare.... Never seen one... and im happy, because i can lie on the floor knowing nothing where i live is toxic... plus if this thing bit you, you wouldn't really die...

  • @ibyOFshieldz you are wrong these can be deadly.

  • @ryotaryuu *can be* *Never seen one* *Not worried* :)

  • i thought false widows were harmless

  • i don't mind spiders but if i find one on my room i'm putting my boots on

  • and finally it not a L. geometricus as i have commented before since they have a an orange hourglass on the abdomen. I guess all the time cae up to this speciment was a steatoda grossa .

  • it is not a malmignate (Latrodectus tredecimguttatus) sine it makes irregural messy web and the markings are all red but the brown widow does not make a totally meshy web but forming like a tend (not a cyrtophora as well - have a colony of them in my garden amazing story near a fence amazing sight ) . I guess spiders dominate my garden...and its obvious spiders are everywhere (if you are a good observer - expert its true)

  • there are 3 of them in my garden exactly the same black to brownish with a white stripe and white markings near wood piles and at the garage ceiling. Ilive n south greece in athens (north suburbs - pendeli region). It is a steatoda brown widow. if settled at their nest there is no fear of them. Actually every year i see enough of them making a web more like a tend with a a retreat hall where they stay probably for 2 years.... never found one indoors so no need to be afraid

  • Hilarious! Just caught one in my bathroom! I'm going to post this clip to my Facebook and watch everyone unfriend me! :o)

  • Yes definetley a false widow. I live on the Isle of Wight and our house is infested with the blighters( in fact we rarely see other spiders indoors) . But they are not aggressive. Where do you live?

  • Comment removed

  • you got a widow there

  • Hello!

I have lots of these actualy beautiful spiders around in the house they are very shy and show therself very rarely it is now the time that they will look for warm places to stay so you maybe see more in your windows frames or some in your bedrooms!I find one last year in my toilet it was actually on the run very fast under the seat and when I was about to flush I realised it mus have come from the ceiling on a string and down behind my back into the toilet lol!

  • I got one under my sofa and it had eaten a bunch of other spider eggs I left there before. I didnt want to grab it cos I though it was Black Widow -like and probably agressive. Meant to be common in the South West. They are UK natives I think. Think of Adders in comparison to Diamondback rattle snakes.

  • i found one in the gym shower in Emeryville, CA. (Norcal)

  • These spiders recently arrived in the UK , they are not deadly there bite is similar to the sting of a wasp and all these hospital - ised people you hear about have allergic reactions.

  • I was bitten by one of these in my Derbyshire Garden in Summer of 2008; An unpleasant experience, (and one I wouldn't recommend) but allegedly insufficient of toxins, to kill.

  • seen them in dover, kent

  • Yes, we do get them. I live in south east England too and especially this time of year, I've seen them hanging from doorways and in corners. If they don't come near me, I don't kill them, but if I see one too close for comfort, I get the shoe...

  • Oh great we have a spider investation here in essex only 1 garden spider bite but it not deadly i hope we dont get any blk/false widows

  • Um did you know that a BABY Black Widow spider DOES have white stripes on it's back?! Are you people dumb?! I keep black widows as pets, they baby black widow has white stripes on it's back and they gradually fade as they get older. God...people are so ignorant.

  • Black widows are not usually aggressive unless defending fertilized eggs. But are you sure that isn't a nymph (immature) black widow? Show me the other side and I will believe you.

  • Yes, I know they arent aggressive, I keep them as pets and research them. And since I am not the owner of the video or this particular spider, I sure as hell cant show you the other side now can I? It could very well be a baby black widow, which I have caught many of. They have white markings on their back, such as this one, and do not have a red hour glass on their stomachs yet, until the white markings go away, then the hour glass appears.

  • to much drama!

  • ok... your ALL crazy, its a freaking spider, who in this holy planet would give a damn if it was a frickin' black, or false widow spider, ive found BILLIONS of spiders exactly like it, besides allwidows have a red hourglass on the bottom of its abdomin!

  • It is a False Black Widow or comman Australian house spider (cuboard spider). This is a small one but very active, the larger one's can bite it won't kill you but you would need medical help as they have been known to cause infections related to bites. i have a pet one it's the size of a two pound coin with a body the size of a five pence piece but its getting old now. wont last much longer. thaks for the vid.

  • i live in south east england

do we get them down there

  • Yes we do! found one just last week in a house just in Wiltshire near the hampshire border.

  • oh sh*t

  • found abou 6 of these in my garage in Ireland got out the blow torch hehehe

  • i found 2 in a garage in north dorset they're spider juice now hahaha

  • I have tons of these critters in my back yard. I love their name.

  • lol what?

  • arent u talking about a wolf spider, because this spiders have enough venom to kill a human.

  • Yes that is a false widow spider they vary in darkness of colour & some have almost no markings apart from a white/cream half crescent marking on the front of the abdomen. Not dangerous although will cause some discomfort if bitten & those cases where people have ended up in hospital like someone who lives just a few miles away from me have been allergic to such bites etc. I live on the south coast of england & catch these regularly in my house, was bitten 3 times in one night but not since.

  • I want it to bite me so i become Spiderman! :D

  • Weyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • i have done a couple hours of research and found out that these spiders are not as bad as u think like the real black widow. these spiders are as harmless as daddy long legs spiders. just leave them alone

  • they are pretty much harmless but wen they bite it feels like a bee sting

and can cause u to be il for bout a week

an old man got bit on the chest and had to go to hospital! nothing to serious but still u don't wanna be biten

btw they only live in the south coast WICH IS WERE I LIVE!!!!!!! lol

  • wait what...SOUTH COAST?!?!?!?!FUCK!!!!*hides somewhere with a can of insecticide*

  • lol dont worry there verchely harmless

  • well, i don't wanna be ill for a week cos i got my GCSE exams like....NOW!

  • They are not as harmless at all, infact i have been bitten on the arm and i ended up in hospital with blood pressure problems and it ended up causing my body to have problems with potassium and i now have a rare disease hyperkalaemic periodic paralysis which they think was brought on by the spider bite. Also i there have been news reports about these spiders and plenty of bite reports too!

  • it really depends on people some get symptons from bites others wont if your allergic to insect bites you will be sure to end up in hospital

  • Bull**it as harmless as daddy long legs. Has a daddy long legs ever put a woman on a life support machine?? Because that what a false widows did too a woman!

  • Daddy Long Legs actually have the one of most poisonous venoms you can get in a spider, its just they cant bite humans.

  • That's actually a myth. They can bite you, but they're not venomous at allll. I was gutted when I found out, I always laughed at them for being so useless, now I'm scared of them haha.

  • My friend picked up a log and there were like 3 black widows on it and he screamed and threw it down lol.

  • Yes they are here I confirm!have them outside my windows nesting (about 5 to 6 nest per windows wich I'm determind to destroy soon as possible!have found one false widow under toilet seat caught it in a glass took pics. and released it.

    from Haywards-heath

  • or it could be a stetoda

  • probably is latrodectus geometricus the false black widow. If the web is not a mess but rather a web sheet and not very tough its not a black widow either. The white stripe across the abdomen close to the kephalothorax and the geometric markings below the belly visible (as it stands under the web) And its not fully black its black and brown lives 2 years and can last a mild winter...(live in Greece)

  • These spiders are all over my garden!!!

  • mine too! they're moving closer and closer towards the house.

  • Me three! These spider actually found a hole through my wall and now are getting in ma house!

  • one of those lil fuckers bit me once!

  • I live in nice france. I have a large palm tree in it is a spider that looks jet black, just like a black widow however on the top of its back abdomen it has a white or cream coloured crown which goes all the way around with a kind of sideways mosiac double Y pattern in the middle leading to an orange spot which is on the top side the middle. Most unusual. I have some photos I would love for someone to identify it for me.

  • cool, I dont know much about spiders, sorry i cant help.

  • @paullwebber Possibley a Latrodectus tredecimguttatus black widow spider, found in europe

  • @paullwebber Yes definitely is a false widow, we have a handful of the same in our Conservatory in Southern England.

  • @paullwebber - Yeah that's a false widow by the looks of it (Steatoda Grossa).

  • Ahh its got a triangle on it's back and if you got a better picture you would see another below it - it has actually got three but the 3rd isn't normally clearly visible. This spider is a cellar spider - Steatoda Grossa, its not the false widow from the canaries that has gotten a reputation of late as a biting spider even though this spider can and does bite. S.Nobilis is only found in parts of the UK, this one you have here is found quite widespread. S.Nobilis has a mosaic pattern on its back.

  • It's got a nasty bite even though its almost never fatal.

  • its a Steatoda grossa - not a Nobilis.

  • Your correct, and they have ability to bite several times, but rarely attack unless you mess with web, very common in south of England.

Can bring on anaphlactic shock, and some have been known to lose feeling in fingers when bitten.

Its bite has been liken to a bee sting.

They are ugly fookers. Body looks like their going to explode.

Know bout them, coz i have to live with them, but dont like them, urgghhhhh

  • your a pussy blood this isn't no false widow spider

  • Yes but it is because we send a pic of it so some spider people and they said it is so OWNED

  • @BanglerMan321 Yes it is. I had one outside our kitchen window. Thier bite is dangerous and can be deadly.

  • there is one in my conservatry and im to scared to go near it

  • im aracnaphbic lol but this is cool

  • Is this from the UK? I'm from America.

  • Its from the UK

  • noice. that was my aussie accent.

  • @natty777 It's not from the UK, it originates I think from the Caribbean. First came to England in Bananas.

  • where did u to it go ? why now it going kill someone i'm scared stiff, it might come and get me

  • We let it go in a woods, it has only kill i person i think, but that was cause of multiple bits, it usealy just makes you dizzy.

  • i hate spiders, Once i went to bed and a spider crawl on my face and i woke up it was big then a 50 coin peace . it was horrbile ,Is there many like this one in our county ? xx

  • I don't think so, I have only seen one.

  • it is like the vicroy butterfly

looks like a monarch but it isn't

  • Steatoda spider. Painful bite but nowhere near dangerous, probably just make you a bit nauseas.

  • But it did actually kill someone once, i was reading about it.

  • Do you still have it as im looking to buy one for my collection

  • no i don't i let it go.

  • ur weird lol

  • LMAO
