@gorideaquad I had two hens when I was a kid. Once I have a yard again (in an apartment T_T) I'm gonna get some hens again! Idk why I love chickens, but I do. I never had to take them to the vet and they lived for 6-7 years. And I don't remember how long they layed eggs for, but it was a pretty long while.

We layed down scrap linoleum on our floor and used some hay/shavings on top. Makes cleaning SOOOO easy! Do you have any good egg recipes to share? ; P Love your set-up, very inspiring. Peace.

Thanks for the tip. Question: My run is really muddy right now cause of the rainy season. Should I put something down outside in the run like rice hulls or hay or just let em peck around in the mud? I don't let them go free in whole back yard very often because they eat our plants.

I was seeing some broken eggs in the coop, thought it was the chickens. Then I went out one evening after dark, looked in the window with a flashlight, and saw a skunk in there chowing down. I left it alone, but the next day I built a little hatch to close between the coop and the run. Now I just have to go out and close it each night and open it in the morning. I'm getting 7-9 eggs per day though! We can't eat em all, so I'm giving a lot of eggs away.
