Looking forwards to soundcards and other devices with the ability to emulate classic hardware via the converters or analog filters. An idea long overdue. Nice one Akai.
Does this mean there will be a focus away from hardware mpc for Akai company? Or even a total shift in company products? Do there exist any plans with new hardware mpc, to atract new and existing customers?
@AkaiProVideo When it comes to future hardware: Think 4 inn (balanced), a screen like roland Fg, and a GUI that belong in the year 2000 +. Me, I like the pads to be catered for dynamic feedback, instead of just contact points (my taste).

@encdee This video shows the reaction that real, working producers had to seeing the hardware for the first time. That's an important piece to understand. None of these guys were paid to react the way they did. Their reaction was similar to our own once we got the first prototype and we like to share experiences like that. Once a mass production model is ready, we will be posting new videos that show its various functions in action.
@AkaiProVideo no doubt. something about youtube just makes it impossible for me to not talk ish unnecessarily. in all honesty though im definitely interested to see how it performs
@AkaiProVideo As a published producer in the industry, I love the MPC hardware. I have the MPC 60, MPC 3000 and an MPC 5000. I am a bit concerned, like others, about reality, VS specs. I need to test drive this to make sure it works as stated. The feature I am most interested to see if it works is that this unit will load songs, sequences and samples from my MPC 60 and MPC 3000 files as advertised. How will reading legacy files be accomplished?
@encdee I am rooting for Akai to get this right. However, you are absolutely right. All this commercial promotes is speculation. Guess we'll have to see. It's exciting though. Can someone tell me what the beat is @ approximately around 2:08?
@AkaiProVideo so is the menu screen / layout on the actual unit the same as say the mpc 2500 etc or will the average mpc user have to adapt to a new menu layout ??
@AkaiProVideo ...I RETRACT MY PREVIOUS STATEMENT! thanks akai for clearing that up... alot of people including myself seem to be very confused about the Renaissance because of the use of the name "MPC" ...but what your saying is that apart from not being able to use it away from your computer... it pretty much is still an MPC!
@spector969 It has audio I/O that sounds exactly like vintage MPCs, a built-in screen and the same workflow as previous MPCs so nearly everything you want to do is done exactly the way it's been done on previous models without ever looking up at a computer screen. It's much more than a simple MIDI controller.
@AkaiProVideo OK, it's a midi controller with an audio I/O. There's still absolutely nothing here to warrant a £700 price tag. I wish Akai good luck with it but I (like many others) will be spending my cash elsewhere thanks all the same. In my honest opinion, this unit is already late to the party and coupled with it's extremely uncompetitive price point, I really don't see it competing with other similar solutions already on the market.
@AkaiProVideo Quote from Akai marketing: "The MPC5000 is the first MPC ever to include 8-track streaming hard disk recording, a 20-voice, 3-oscillator analog synthesizer with arpeggiator"
I am just a little confused. I buy this and a computer, and I get less options and power than before? I know it seem to be just a little bit cheaper. But still. With the added power and posibilitys of a computer, I get what??? I dont want another plugin, even if it is absolute fantastic. I only want mpc power.
@AkaiProVideo I would just like to have it better than NI mashcine and Roland MV-8800, thats all :-) I see a mountain of potential here.
And with me staying totally away from ordinary pc/mac sequencing programs (they suck the spirit out of the music making) it would be fantastic to have a mpc beast that can handle it all, and beat them all.
Computers are made for Word. Real hardware are made for raising hell.
If I where to buy this thing, it would be to use only this and nothing else. And it has to be "that" good, and the software "that" stable. Or else I see no point. Dont get me wrong thou. If it is "that" good, I will be shuffling my money right out of the bank. But not as a half assed interface on a confused usb 2 port, or glorified ultimate plugin for use with something else. @jaybrad11 What you're talking about is something we considered carefully in the design. Preserving the MPC workflow was absolutely essential with the MPC Renaissance. It is designed so that you won't have to keep going to a mouse. Most MPC users will be able to dive right in and have it work just like their old one. If you want to do more, the computer is there to expand your options. Any comparison to the MPD is apples and oranges really.
@AkiaProVideo your just milking the game , squeeze every penny out of it you can , instead of actually trying to lead the music making revolution and push the envelope which would cost more money and be more of a risk and when it sold you wouldn't make as much from each unit sold . but the your problem is knowledge and we just know to much . you were a step behind NI on this one and you now it . what you need is Good Music being made on these ASAP , so send me one please , see my page 4 beats
@noisieboyz They were shown very early prototypes. Showing them working on software that would likely not resemble what the final version looks like would have been premature. However, the feedback from these professionals and dozens of others we spoke to really helped us to build something special that bridges the gap between vintage MPCs and modern, computer-based production. Rest assured, videos are coming that will show how it works.
@DigitalDevilXL it doesnt matter what piece of equipment you roll up with wherever you go, its what comes out of the machine is all that matters really. This might be just a controller but its a start and I dig what AKAI is doing with keeping it oldschool looking but integrating new school. Thats coming from a 2500 user.
why is it that they do not show any of these people . making a beat from it , when "aarab made a beat , thier wwas a fuck of latency time .... overall its harbage . you pull up to a hip hop underground show in L.A or NY ... youll get beat up and boo'd at .. thier is no art in this .. all it is , is a midi controller with software built in
@ImDino Actually it isn't. Maschine was always software with a controller unit. It was about what the software could do. MPC was always a hardware unit - and for it's time the best. Now Akai are bringing out things called "MPC" which aren't hardware anymore. It's all about the software and these three new units are controllers for the software. If the software is junk, and I don't know if it is or not, then having a unit with MPC written on it will mean nothing because the unit does nothing.
@ImDino you're right. it's a controller with some Akai software tagged on. Hope that software is good because all you'll have otherwise is some MPC branded plastic. I'd rather have my 5000 and 1000 than this.
@PukkatronicAllstars My problem when I use the mpc 2500 is that I start making a beat on the mpc, but when I want to put the beat in different tracks and all to do detail effects and tweaking in Logic and put all kinds of compressors etc, I have to record track for track in audio or re-make the beat with the same project files and then record the midi notes but I lose that sound and the perfect layout it had on the mpc.
This MPC Renaissance solves all my problems and makes it easier for me...
@bassbasstwotwo I want to have the project in the computer for structure detail tweaking when I do final mix after recording so I dont have to record audiotracks allover again for a simple tweak. Thats why
i am trying to understand... you did your beat on the mpc. the arrangement is done? so just record the beat and the use eq, compression filtering on your computer. if you are more comfortable with making beats on the computer... why even use the mpc? buy maschine. native instruments have proven to be a solid company which actually listens and talks to their customers. can't really sat that about akai... did you try jj os with the mpc 2500?
@bassbasstwotwo I need the feel of an mpc and the workflow, I need the MPC for sampling and drums and all but the computer for bass/synth/arrangement/mixing mastring etc, thats how I make the best I can make, and this will cut the beatmaking-time shorter and yes I use JJ os but free version.
@ImDino and yeah since it has latch on note-repeat I'll be able to use one hand with the pads and one with a knob for pitch shift and such, or pads 16-level with one hand and switch from 16/1 to 32/1 etc with the other. (I know the mpd 32 had it but i was very disappointed with the "quality"),
you can use the mpc 2500 to trigger the synth in your computer as well. use is it as a midi controller and then track it all at once. it's just a suggestion.
@bassbasstwotwo been doing that, but its not the same at all :P you dont have to tell me all the reasons why It's not 100% necessary for me to get this to make music.. Everything they say in their videos about the product is everything that i've wanted in an mpc, It's a dream come true to me. You don't obviously work the way I do with music so you dont need it, well I do!
you just told me that you want the mpc for drums and sampling. read your post. i didn't tell you anything. this is just stupid. you are free to do what you want. bye.
@bassbasstwotwo Of course we listen and talk to you. Have you been to our Facebook wall or Twitter feed? If you experienced anything less than what you expected, let our support team know. They log every request and review suggestions regularly.
@PukkatronicAllstars so you go ahead and call this thing a piece of crap, but for me and a lot of others who dont want to be stuck in the 90's are going to love the features and possibilities it brings us. You cant use a midi controller to chop samples and have that same workflow with a screen of a fucking midi controller!!!
@ImDino not sure what you're saying. The MPC Renaissance IS a midi controller. That's a fact. Essentially it now works just like Maschine. The work is now done in software. And I never said it was a piece of crap. I'm saying it's not a real MPC. Akai have now given up on the MPC and gone into software - only a few years after the other guys did. Essentially they are 3 years behind Maschine and you know a lot of MPC users jumped off the MPC when Maschine came out. But I still got my 5000 and 1000
@PukkatronicAllstars The MPC5000 is still available if people prefer a standalone MPC. The Renaissance makes it easy to migrate from something like a 3000 or 4000 to using software without losing the things you love most, especially the unique sound characteristics of vintage models, the MPC workflow, the MPC pads, the adjustable screen, cursor controls and MPC swing. It's the only place to get all of these things.
Yea, they were hype, but it seems nice, especially for people who, came from using an MPC and bought a maschine thinking it would be like an MPC, and ended up with patterens and scenes.
Is 2 much hype with the new mpc we shall see like they say action speaks louder than words!!! As i'm concern Akai has a long way 2go 2 compete with native instruments!!!
@CivilIllEnt lol i know about sean c hes a legend in the game but the beat will do justice wihout the 1 2 3 it hurts my eardrums i like the way araab flipped the beat if you seen the smirk on his face whn he was about to perform you can tell he aint all that impressed with the beat i had the 2500 and its my fav but ima test out the 4000
Putting aside functionality of this new mpc, I can understand guys in this video and why they are being so excited. Imagine someone coming to your studio, with something new (no matter - a prototype or the actual thing) which did not hit the shops yet. They are telling you about it, you can check it yourself and give them your opinion. I think I would be quite happy about this kind of situation. I'm not a gear junkie and don't think that mpc is necessary to make great tracks, just to clarify.
Mpc 2500 + jjosxl = all you need. People will be using mpc`s like the 60, 3k, 2k, 1K for years to come...anything using a computer for the os has a limited shelf life .
Its not a stand alone so now you have to bring your laptop with you, if you even have a laptop.Where you ask like if you do MPC Battles or to a different studio.
Take the MPCR to some Cats in New York, Detroit, Chicago, LA, ATL.. Not to knock the them dudes... But the inner city money makes a product valid. Get DJ Ski, Premier, 9th wonder, Pete rock.. C'mon dude. Better yet get that kid in Brooklyn, or Pontiac Michigan who is dope. Thats who will be the buyers of the product. The so called "Ghetto" will be buying this more than the so called established folks.
@sante1996 I agree with you in principle, but sadly most people who want to get into production don't even know who Pete Rock is. Numark are just responding to trends within their target market. Having one of the greats co-sign a product might have shifted units fifteen years ago, but these days most producers who appreciate those cats already own the equipment they need to arrange, record, and mix beats. More importantly most of them would rather be digging than fiending over the latest gear.
@walterisbell718 I love that track. But I love sean C an LV's production. LV produced cant knock the hustle by JayZ and he did a lot of stuff for Fat Joe. Sean C was the A&R for loud records and he worked with mobb deep and pun. They also did 6 songs on the american gangster sound track. That is why I am putting a little interest into this. I am not sold on it yet because I love my 4000. These guys love the 4000. So I am going to keep watching. We will see the reviews after NAAM.
Yeah, NAMM i.e. product specialist demoing it,price point, and roll out date is the only things that will satisfy me at this point, not this. Well maybe Pete Rock, Just Blaze, or Kev Brown making a beat video with it would hold me over.
By hiding the interface, does not show us why we need a new piece gear that does exactly the same thing that we currently use. Just an mpk 61 and apc40 and ableton are more than enough for me.
ok u got all these folks in the vid talking about it how excited they are about it but why not show them using it so we can see them getting excited about it while using it. to me that would sell me more on the the pro co-sign--not saying i'd buy it just cuz a proi is using it, but i'd at least believe they are truly feelng this as something worthy since they have prob used every device. looks more like they are excited abou tthe idea of it instead of the actual product....show us that ...
Aye, its the basement producers that buy the product and make them rich. Its the basement niggas that made hip hop. So what you talking bout? Do you know really
The guys in the video are WAY to hype about this lol. We all have (or should have) moved on to Maschine by now. but this may be a a good way to get old ass producers to move to using computers... it they have not by now
@BrandonCarterTV I didn't move to Maschine. Dudes around my circle haven't moved to Maschine either. Maybe we are old ass producers like you say or simply too comfortable with what we use. It's 2011-2012 and we're still getting placement with ASR-10's and MPC 60's.
Akai is still yet to show the software in action... This means nothing! Prove that Nukai can make a stable OS and we'll be behind you. Till then, Nukai is still the same company we know that abandoned the 1k 2.5k OS and luckily we had JJ save us MPC users. The 5k was terrible, the break through OS was stereo sample. Bahahaha
Can't wait for Thursday to finally find out the pricing of these new MPC's and also when they are going to be available in the UK. Well done Akai, these are going to be major!
@ImDino Most gear websites will be carrying pricing information and release dates on Thursday this week when Winter NAMM starts. Also a lot of music store sites will be listing this information as well as Akai's own Facebook and Twitter pages. I have heard that the MPC Renaissance could be with us as soon as late Feb and the MPC Studio could be around a month later at the end of March, but that is just a rumour.
In watching this, it seems like Akai is trying real hard to convert the hardware MPC holdouts... that's all well and good, but there's a segment of former MPC producers who have moved on to the Maschine... you guys keep working on converting those holdouts, but if you don't acknowledge that there is another product out there that's already courting your former users with an affordable and a fun unit, Numark will continue to tarnish the legacy of the MPC.
Looking forwards to soundcards and other devices with the ability to emulate classic hardware via the converters or analog filters. An idea long overdue. Nice one Akai.

@AkiaProVideo your just milking the game , squeeze every penny out of it you can , instead of actually trying to lead the music making revolution and push the envelope which would cost more money and be more of a risk and when it sold you wouldn't make as much from each unit sold . but the your problem is knowledge and we just know to much . you were a step behind NI on this one and you now it . what you need is Good Music being made on these ASAP , so send me one please , see my page 4 beats

what the fuck is this why didn't show them using the fucking thing. How do the muthafucka work?
noisieboyz 1 month ago
@noisieboyz They were shown very early prototypes. Showing them working on software that would likely not resemble what the final version looks like would have been premature. However, the feedback from these professionals and dozens of others we spoke to really helped us to build something special that bridges the gap between vintage MPCs and modern, computer-based production. Rest assured, videos are coming that will show how it works.

@AkaiProVideo So... they did not actually use those prototypes at all? Meaningless indeed then.

28 haters ??? probably maschine users or guys who wanted to buy a maschine but blurred now
samirbouzid 1 month ago in playlist Autres vidéos de AkaiProVideo
@PukkatronicAllstars thats like saying: the maschine is just a unit with a few rubber buttons on, nothing special right?
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino Actually it isn't. Maschine was always software with a controller unit. It was about what the software could do. MPC was always a hardware unit - and for it's time the best. Now Akai are bringing out things called "MPC" which aren't hardware anymore. It's all about the software and these three new units are controllers for the software. If the software is junk, and I don't know if it is or not, then having a unit with MPC written on it will mean nothing because the unit does nothing.
PukkatronicAllstars 1 month ago
@PukkatronicAllstars its helluva lot more than a midi controller -_-
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino you're right. it's a controller with some Akai software tagged on. Hope that software is good because all you'll have otherwise is some MPC branded plastic. I'd rather have my 5000 and 1000 than this.
PukkatronicAllstars 1 month ago
@PukkatronicAllstars My problem when I use the mpc 2500 is that I start making a beat on the mpc, but when I want to put the beat in different tracks and all to do detail effects and tweaking in Logic and put all kinds of compressors etc, I have to record track for track in audio or re-make the beat with the same project files and then record the midi notes but I lose that sound and the perfect layout it had on the mpc.
This MPC Renaissance solves all my problems and makes it easier for me...
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino because it's now in software. All I originally said was that Maschine was doing that shit 3 years ago.
PukkatronicAllstars 1 month ago
@ImDino
the mpc 2500 has 8 + 2 outs. what more do you need to record your beat?
why not start with reading the manual about "routing"?
bassbasstwotwo 1 month ago
@bassbasstwotwo I want to have the project in the computer for structure detail tweaking when I do final mix after recording so I dont have to record audiotracks allover again for a simple tweak. Thats why
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino
i am trying to understand... you did your beat on the mpc. the arrangement is done? so just record the beat and the use eq, compression filtering on your computer. if you are more comfortable with making beats on the computer... why even use the mpc? buy maschine. native instruments have proven to be a solid company which actually listens and talks to their customers. can't really sat that about akai... did you try jj os with the mpc 2500?
bassbasstwotwo 1 month ago
@bassbasstwotwo I need the feel of an mpc and the workflow, I need the MPC for sampling and drums and all but the computer for bass/synth/arrangement/mixing mastring etc, thats how I make the best I can make, and this will cut the beatmaking-time shorter and yes I use JJ os but free version.
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino and yeah since it has latch on note-repeat I'll be able to use one hand with the pads and one with a knob for pitch shift and such, or pads 16-level with one hand and switch from 16/1 to 32/1 etc with the other. (I know the mpd 32 had it but i was very disappointed with the "quality"),
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino
you can use the mpc 2500 to trigger the synth in your computer as well. use is it as a midi controller and then track it all at once. it's just a suggestion.
bassbasstwotwo 1 month ago
@bassbasstwotwo been doing that, but its not the same at all :P you dont have to tell me all the reasons why It's not 100% necessary for me to get this to make music.. Everything they say in their videos about the product is everything that i've wanted in an mpc, It's a dream come true to me. You don't obviously work the way I do with music so you dont need it, well I do!
ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino
you just told me that you want the mpc for drums and sampling. read your post. i didn't tell you anything. this is just stupid. you are free to do what you want. bye.

ImDino 1 month ago
@ImDino not sure what you're saying. The MPC Renaissance IS a midi controller. That's a fact. Essentially it now works just like Maschine. The work is now done in software. And I never said it was a piece of crap. I'm saying it's not a real MPC. Akai have now given up on the MPC and gone into software - only a few years after the other guys did. Essentially they are 3 years behind Maschine and you know a lot of MPC users jumped off the MPC when Maschine came out. But I still got my 5000 and 1000
PukkatronicAllstars 1 month ago
@PukkatronicAllstars The MPC5000 is still available if people prefer a standalone MPC. The Renaissance makes it easy to migrate from something like a 3000 or 4000 to using software without losing the things you love most, especially the unique sound characteristics of vintage models, the MPC workflow, the MPC pads, the adjustable screen, cursor controls and MPC swing. It's the only place to get all of these things.
AkaiProVideo 3 weeks ago
@spector969 but it's using the same sequencer as a mpc, giving you that mpc workflow with the handiness of your computer.

The so called "Ghetto" will be buying this more than the so called established folks.
sante1996 1 month ago

We will see the reviews after NAAM.

ok u got all these folks in the vid talking about it how excited they are about it but why not show them using it so we can see them getting excited about it while using it. to me that would sell me more on the the pro co-sign--not saying i'd buy it just cuz a proi is using it, but i'd at least believe they are truly feelng this as something worthy since they have prob used every device. looks more like they are excited abou tthe idea of it instead of the actual product....show us that ...

Bahahaha
