thats why almost any guy with a quad who goes mudding does snorkles on them. Primarilly the intake and exhaust. But a few bikes out there with those CVT belt transmission; like a snowmobile, are vented as well. these can-am's have that tranny. and if the belt case or w.e isnt sealed/snorkled, you wont go very far until you drain it and let it dry out. but as far as i know, its alot of work to fuck up a belt on an outty :)
@88annedr it doesnt matter on a canam 500,650 or 800. heck my old honda rubicon would idle underwater fine for 10 minutes, even if it was 5 feet under doing a 45degree wheelie
your not really supposed to ride it like that were the motor is totally submerged thats why its smoking but they make snorkals for them if he had one he'd have the best quad ever made the outlander 800 and it wouldnt burn up
There's no "best" atv. They each have their own attributes. My outty800 is comfortable and powerful but has lots of warranty issues so the bad offsets the good. Same way with other brands. They all climb like goats if they have good tires. If mine will stop breaking I'd love it but it's hard to love something that's been in the shop 10 times in 2 yrs. Otherwise the power is cool.
I've had so much trouble with my CanAm800. At 6 months the engine blew and had to be rebuilt. The front springs collapsed. The winch had to be replaced. The transmission housing leaked water causing the belt to slip. Then the transmission stopped shifting later and now my ATV is in the shop getting a new clutch because it locked up a few weeks ago. Although the warranty is 3 yrs I still have to pay a $50 dectable for each incident. They're fun and fast but unreliable.
OMG it's god on wheels!!

It very well COULD be snorkled. My snorkle comes up under the instrument pod. It's hidden but works very well.

Can ams are freakin great machines but there still not the best. The yamaha grizzly 700 is.
ShredR8 4 years ago
I think the brute force 750 is probably the best machine, with an outlander at a VERY close second.
Grizzly 700's arent bad either, definetly better than polaris' =P
