After 3 years on Klonopin, then 4 on Ativan (8 mg per day), I was cut-off after a voluntary detox from prescribed pain management Morphine. No doctor (including ER) would reinstate. The Morphine was a relative (6 day) breeze compared to the nearly 1 year horriffic withdrawals from Ativan, of which they detox hosp. gave me only a 6 day taper, where hell began!
There's a Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Support Group on Facebook if anyone's in need of help regarding benzo withdrawal, or considering it.

I hate videos about damaging effects. Do you wanna know what my philosophy is? I'd rather live a life pain free than struggle everyday. Lady is making such general claims. I wanna kill the bitch. bitch....some people NEED this to survive. This is actually very incorrect info.
@videodesignerz But the problem for you is that the drugs will only help you for a little while, maybe years, maybe 10 years but one day they will do nothing but harm for you, and you will NEED to be off them to survive...
@videodesignerz there comes a point where the negative effects of the drugs far out-weigh the benefits. In the case of a severe mental illness such as Schizophrenia, the side effects are nothing compared to the misery of Schizophrenia, but things like panic disorder and anxiety are far easier to treat then Schizophrenia, and thus the need for risky and powerful drugs can be avoided because after a given period these drugs are no longer effective for them and you are left with two big problems.
not all docter fail to wornyou. i hade to fight with mne for a year nd tri over 50 diferent dugs bfore she would lte me tri lorazapam and i am glade i won it works gret for the past 3monthes i have hade a wonderfull life compaired to what it was bfore.
I haven't tried quitting and it's been probably, oh, 7 years of use. Used the benz to get off opioids and blow, and the OD of my best friend. I've only been using either .5mg's of Clonazepam or 5-10 mg's of Diazapam every other day, sometimes every day when I slip, for the past 3 yrs. Before my current regimen it was bars and ativan: that was ugly. I'm hoping the low dosages and a taper method will work. It's gonna be a real bitch. I can't lose my job during the kick though. Sigh....
i was heavily addicted to lorazepam. i was poping 12 pills a day of 2mg. for 6 years. i went to rehab and they stopped giving to me. the withdrawals were so horrible i just wanted to die. i would get super panic attacks. i was shaking violently. i had big seizures. total memory loss. i didnt know where i was or what city i was in. and the anxiety. was unbearable. now i am benzo free. i'm not going thru that hell again.
You can't really compare benzo withdrawal with opiate withdrawl. Opiate withdrawal is like spending a few days at the beach in comfort compared to the horrors of benzo withdrawl. I hadn't even known I was addicted and due to circumstance had to quit cold turkey. Because I was taking xanax illegally for months, I felt I couldn't turn to the medical community for help. Nobody should go through that hell alone like I did.
I took for 23 years and I can still walk and talk. It was tough coming off of them of course BUT I did it so I know it can be done. It was harder than herion withdrawal and I should know and I suffered but I didn't die. It looks like a miracle to me. Imagine being depressed for 23 years and suddenly the depressin lifted....The reason? The dirty, filthy, rotten benzos.
@wattsrightt heroine withdrawal , i heard that exists medication that heplps with heroine withdrawal is that true , i wonder if theres any for benzo withdrawal ?

@XxEvE1986xX I felt like my mind and body had been turned inside out for almost 2 weeks. It's a really hideous experience that you can't describe -- only somebody else who has been through it can understand.
The doctors don't mention the serious side-effects because they're going to make money out of your addiction. It's the same thing any drug dealer would do.
@xs1ner This is simply, and completely false. Research it.....it's unreal. I have never, ever once in my life abused my benzo and never gone up past 1mg of klonopin a day. I am down to half that and my withdrawal symptoms are intense. I have never experienced anything in my life as difficult as coming off of this drug - by far. Get your facts straight.
@Karismicphoto Get your facts straight and google around, I have been on 2mg Xanax and somedays I will go without it and I never feel like I need it. I was prescribed it for my PTSD and even when deployed I take it as needed. Not everyday because I HAVE to have it. If you yourself NEED it then YOU have a problem and I don't think it's the benzo itself.
@xs1ner Ever heard of physical withdrawal? Your mind has no control over that idiot. It is proven and fully researched that that all benzos are both physically and mentally addicting. Good for you that you can fight the fact that your body has grown used to that drug - you are a freak of nature, the only human being alive who does not experience dependence from drugs. It is a proven fact that benzos are one the most addicting drugs out there including prescribed drugs and street drugs.
@xs1ner not only they are physically addictive but u can actually die from the withdrawels unlike opiates, benzo's barbituates, and alcohol fuck your shit up once ur addiction, u can also have seizures, dont take my word for it, try it yourself
@WiseInfant What withdraws? I used to take 2mg of Xanax as needed. Sometimes I would use it all week sometimes I would use it a few times a week. When I ran out I never went back to renew my prescription. I didn't have any withdraws. I was never "addicted". Btw you are replying to a nearly 6month old comment. Next.
@xs1ner I took 2mg of Xanax daily for 6 months. AS PRESCRIBED. Horrible fucking withdrawls. We aren't talking about people who take it once in a while, we are talking about taking it daily.
PS- Why the hell does it matter how old the comment is that I'm replying to? You replied back within 10 minutes.
@WiseInfant I used it for 9 months for PTSD. No withdraws. I didn't take it "once in awhile" I took it when I needed it. Which was nearly everyday at first and less and less over time.
PS. It matters because it's old and done with. I've been off Xanax for awhile. I replied back because I'm on Youtube. You had withdraws? Cry over it.
@xs1ner Dude, stay in your appartment 24/7, let your fingernails and hair grow way too long, wear kleenex boxes on your feet and cry about your "traumatic experience" you little pussy.
Benzos are a safe alternative to barbiturates - dumb bitch! If used properly they cause no problems, and are considered a primary drug in any health centre.
Coming off Valium is hell! I'm tapering very slowly. I am not interested what people have to say that "think" they will be on these drugs for life because they're very wrong! Tolerance will hit. Good luck coming off!
Xanax withdrawl makes heroin withdrawl look like a cake walk..............iv experienced both and xanax withdrawl is the worst withdrawl u will ever go thru!!!!!
@Pent5HT Ya I would say the severity of physical symptoms is worse with opiates. However benzo withdrawal can cause a complete mental fucking breakdown. Plus it lasts longer. Benzo withdrawal tortures your brain. Opiate withdrawal does to an extent but there are times that you look around and think "I can do this". Not so much w/ Benzos. The mental torture is unrelenting for months. Then just when you think it's over. The extreme panic and paranoia sets in. Depersonalizatioin sucks.
@Pent5HT U know I agree with you because everyone says Benzo withdrawal is worse then Herion! I quit Herion after 13 years & that really sucked for 4 days, but when I stopped Nitrazapam after 10 years that was't as bad as the Herion withdrawal!!! but thats just my expireance, but alot of people say what you said!
@handsomedevil98 ...herion withdrawal, for me, was no easy feat. Even after herion cessation I was addicted to codiene for years and it was no small feat getting down to JUST codiene but last year I quit both drugs...Nitrazapam(Mogadon)8-10 tabs mgs a day and codiene. I am still adjusting to the life without benzos and the aftermath. FOR ME the tranks were harder. Herion is a tough drug to quit.
@Pent5HT um no... just because you can die on xanax withdrawl and you cant on heroin withdrawal doesnt make xanax withdrawl worse. heroin kills pain and makes you warm therefore when you are withdrawaling you are in physical pain and uncomfortably freezing trust me ive done it all and IV heroin is deffinetly the most addictive drug and probably the most dangerous along with meth but i think heroin is even worse then meth.
@masterkush4x People have in fact died due to heroin withdrawl, usually very seriously addicted addicts. One case I'm familiar with, a guy went into a clinic that was clueless about what they were doing, he had a brain hemorrage due to withdrawl and died. Pretty sad that someone tries to get clean and dies from it.
This conversation has descended to shit. I've sweated out morphine/opiate withdrawal twice. It's a predictable 3 to 5 day ordeal, which absolutely sucks. But the difference between heroine & benzos, is that (1) Benzos are too often casually prescribed by doctors. (2) With by the looks of it, about 80% of long term users (the doctors fault), experience from 6 to 18 months of symptoms like vertigo (dizziness), muscle twitches, 3 X anxiety, horrible insomnia, etc. I'd take the opiate w/d any day!
@andykokolis1977 Yes ...benzo will not kill you like a Horse...they will make tottal nervous wrack from yo self with HUUUGE anxiety and + 10000side efects for all yo life...I would rather die ........
i started take ativan 10 yrs ago i did abused them for a while but when i was trying to get sober benoz such as xanax ativan valum almost killed me i got back on the benzos trying to take less everyday but it's a crazy feeling life without benzos...
Klonopin has saved my life. I was on the verge of putting an end to everything. After a visit to the ER my doc saw how severe it was and gave me a script.
Granted I wish there was no tolerance as dose escalation is not my thing.
To an addict, someones sympathy means money for them to get dope. "Look at me uncle joe!! im clean going to silly assed meetings! can I have some money?"
Oh bless y'alls little, pea-picken hearts. Mother fuckers think that since they get the dope from a doctor then they are better than other people that do dope.. Sorry man!!!!! you a pill poppin fool and what y'all dont eat you sell to other addicts.
Ive been around dope heads my whole life and have seen/heard it all!!
i love these tranqs. i get idiot savant drunk and now i know guitar. oxazepam and ritalin cocktails defeat xanax tolerance.
but yes. have suffered convulsive fits.. worse or at least as dangerous as lsd when left un monitored.

Klonopin has saved my life. I was on the verge of putting an end to everything. After a visit to the ER my doc saw how severe it was and gave me a script.
Granted I wish there was no tolerance as dose escalation is not my thing.

Really? You sound pretty heartless. People make bad choices but that doesn't mean they don't deserve sympathy
