  • Thank you for posting this!

  • I saw this in college too, I've wanted the song they're singing since then too.

  • I saw this back when I was in college. Great movie.

  • This Film should have won numerous Academy Awards .Best Director, Leading Actress. Supporting Actor, Cinematology. Set Design and Soundtrack. One of the best Films I have ever seen!!!.A piece of Art that has left one of the most profound impacts on me visually.emotional and spiritually.I saw it in Harlem during it's premiere.Introduced to it while lisenting to Imhotep Gary Byrd in NYC.

  • I am surprised that this has not been flagged for nudity yet.

  • @fartman114 .. its acceptable nudity because it is in historical context or for educational purposes. Its the same reason the discovery channel can show nudity when it pertains to tribes and their people in traditional garb.

  • Africa is a continent filled with people of different cultures, heritages, nationalities and so-called "races". I'm sick of people acting like Africa is some monolithic place where everone shares the same ancestry, same country, same ethinicity, same tribe, same phenotype ..etc. It's just as diverse as, if not more than, Eurasia, Oceania and the Americas.

  • @DaTruth2024

...And do you know that it wasnt always like that? Only AFTER invasion did it get like that. No, once upon a time Africa was all African. There was no where near as many countries in Africa as there is today and nor was there so many ethnicitys. Did you know this? I doubt it because you would have thought twice about typing such foolishness.

Truth is you know little to nothing about Africa in totality. Stop spreading foolishness.

  • Oh wow! I will be watching this film.

  • @KingAziz89 thumbs up. You could've saved a of time and just told them to read up on the trans atlantic slave trade instead of typing all of that.

  • I first watched this in the theater when it first came out in 93'. I was 12 years old and it impacted me, but now that I'm 29 and locing my hair and connected with my past, it means so much more! Thank you so much for blessing us with this.

  • JAMICANS ARE AFRICANS ASSS....KNOW YOUR HISTORY

  • @jengisjohn

False. There are Afro-descent Jamaicans and then there are mixed-race Jamaicans and many Jamaicans that do not have any West/West-Central African ancestry (European, South Asian Indian, East Asian, Levanite). Like other places in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Also nationality is different from ancestry. For example my nationality is American as I was born/raised here (I also have Jamaican citizenship) but my ancestry is to West/West-Central Africa, South Asia, Europe, East Asia

  • @DaTruth2024 Jamaicans are also Africans. There are Jamaicans that came from Africa before Columbus and peopled the island. There are Jamaicans that came as slaves, some escaped or never enslaved are called Maroons. There are Asians: Indians & Chinese that were brought over as indentured servants. There are the migration from all over and the descendants of the British who were slave owners and the mixing of the so-called races. I am pure Jamaican. The Moto of Jamaica: Out of Many, One People.

  • @sylmarah77 There is the continent called African, not its original name and there are countries on that continent, within those countries there are various tribes with their unique appearances, languages & customs. Over time due to migration and invasion the appearance & custom of the people of certain country changed, ie. Egypt. Many of African descent do not consider themselves Black. Black is not a race, it is affiliated with no specific land, as white is not a race, they are identities.

  • @jengisjohn

So no. I'm not "African". I'm of Akan, Fon, Yoruba, Fulani, Hausa, Igbo, Kongo, Mauca descent but I'm not "African". Also not all Africans are "black" ethier. You have Berbers, Egyptians, Ethiopians, Somalis, Eritreans, Northern Sudanese, Khosian-speaking tribes ..etc. that do not consider themselves "black" ...

  • @DaTruth2024

You said not all Africans are black. Thats a lie also.

BLACK is not a race and nor is white. If you are trying to act smart at least do a bit of research.

AFRICAN IS a race. Caucasian is a race. Asian is a Race.

Nationailtys are the country where someone resides in.

Ethncicity is the place of Origins. We are African BECUASE our origins is in Africa and the same for Asians and all the other ethnicitys.

Again i say, stop spreading foolishness. Ignorance is not a pretty thing.

  • @TheAncientX ....Profound Insight!!!

  • @jengisjohn

and are not considered "black" by others as the do not speak Niger-Congo languages and are not linked with Kondafarian groups neither linguistically, genetically nor phenotypically.

  • "I'm not an African, I'm an American"...sounds familar.

  • What a grave injustice, I get very sad every time I watch this.

  • @med672 I concur, this kind of coldblooded evil one has in their heart to do such awful things to another human being.

  • YAY!!! Ghana!!! my country. great, beautiful awesome country. miss it so much!

    very captivating movie.

  • She said I am not African.

  • I'm not an African...........

Jesus how many coon say that today..... its sad.

  • Must never forget the ancestors, for that would be forgetting ourselves (although sadly many of us do). Thank you for posting this video sista, hotep.

  • @AfriNaija12 i will never forget--- Allah u Akbar!!!!!

  • @AfriNaija12 ..I was just listening to I believe tha last Gil Scott Album called "We're New Here" where Gil makes a statement saying ..Our Ancestors are with Us and want us to survive so they can live on thru us....

  • @Jahmylov ..Correction..Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX

  • I went to Virginia this summer and I tell you walking on them roads with wheat on one side and corn on the other was an experience I enjpy each time I go there to visit family. I feel my ancestors presense in the wind as it passes through the crops and trees. I love going home to my G-mothers hometown. Peace and quiet.

  • the spirit of my ancestors calls.....

  • Muta!!!!

  • Thye have done eveything to destroy the African but we like the enegizer bunny and shit.....

  • Im 16 and i dont know why but when I see this movie it makes me feel odd in some kind of way

  • man white people were so cruel back then

  • Were !!!!!!

  • and they still are

  • Some of them ae just as cruel. For some it is in the genes to be haters of black folk and anything non white. Its like they are babies and can't see that the world consist of many other nations and races w/o feeling threatened.

  • back then????

  • @MsAusarian what and still are we still living under their demonic system and why are you so keen on defending them do you have a white boyfriend/ girlfriend or something

  • wow..

    You misunderstood me.

Your reply suprised me. I am pro black 100%. So hell no I don't have a white boyfriend. The fact that I call myself ms Ausarian should tell you that I am pan african. I aint christian (not to offend anyone). but strictly african in my spirituality.

When you said "back then", my question marks meant that they have not changed their make up. they just do it a different way and are politically correct about it now.

  • @MsAusarian yeah sorry i forgot we them hat i said because i made that comment long time my bad but yeah you are right i hate them with a passion

  • im sure your parents are real proud.

  • so why are you watching this?

  • WTF!!!!

  • sterlingmenthol77 - You should really have kept that to yourself -- you dont care because you are probably still living off the blood, sweat and tears of the African people - ignorant - I hate ignornant motherfuckers!

  • @osunhoney somali pirates 4 life nigger

  • @osunhoney What makes you think that Sterlingmethol77 is living off the blood sweat and tears of African people? Sterling is more than likely poor white trash who is upset and mad at the world for his circumstances. People who are wealthy and doing well would rather be out shopping and driving nice cars than on youtube posting bullshit comments about people they have no valid reason for disliking.

  • @ChicoPeligroso - That's a valid point, however, one does not have to be rich to live off of the blood, sweat and tears of African people. There are many challenges that our ancestors went through that opened the way for not only black people but other disenfranchised folks. (poor whites are included) .

  • when was this movie released?

  • 1993
