Great video! If you had to choose between the glass roof or Navigation. Which would you pick? I've also read on some forums that some people are having problems with the 6 speed manual trans. Should i be concerned and get the auto instead?
one day while driving my 5.0 i was in first gear and i was so tired that i forgot to shift into second, i redlined and the car seemed to jerk back a little. could i have damaged anything???
The camera guy is a douche! The engine sounds small? He should go back to his Civic and never forget that when it comes to muscle cars, there's no replacement for displacement!!!
I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the fact that Ford still didn't dial out the horrible wheel hop that plagues this chassis. What a shame that 5.0L owners will have to mod the rear suspension to get rid of the wheel hop! What was Ford thinking? Even Roush figured it out....
Considering the glass roof doesn't even open, $2,000 seems like a rip off, considering my 300C's power moonroof was only $900. Still, I can't imagine NOT getting the glass roof... how did you guys like it? Really brightens up the inside.
Also, that saddle tan leather looks great. Nice throwback to the old days.
@perdedor3571 absolutly not. there is no reason you couldn't slap a super or turbo charger on the 5.0 mustang. believe me roush, saleen, and shelby will have a field day with this new motor.
Absolutely TRUE! Even the 5.0 development team has said in interviews, that the factory connecting rods will not withstand boost! But don't take it from me!!! Read the article on 5.0 magazine's own website!!
@perdedor3571 Not true. Only problem you'll have with the higher CR is you won't be running 10-12 lbs of boost on the stock motor. But 8 psi would likely net you well over 550hp, so what's to complain about? Odds are you're going to have to do some internal work before going north of that number anyways.......so just go with some lower CR pistons and you're all set.
@perdedor3571 N,. "The engine was engineered from the beginning for supercharging or EcoBoost, so why not EcoBoost the engine now?" is a direct quote from the interview Esps... is referencing. They were kind of contradictory in their statements and even said "the Coyote rod shares its big- and small-end diameters plus its center-to-center length with the 4.6 rod..." going on to say it's an improved rod and folks boost the 4.6's all the time. I just wouldn't push the boost till tested more.
@perdedor3571 its not that they suck, its just this motor has I high compression ratio (11:1) so you cant run as much boost as a motor that is at a lower compression like the previous gt's
@foursixchris I've heard Ford racing came out with a bottom end kit to lower the compression ratio to 9:1 for forced induction options like the Ford Racing supercharger kit. Unfortunately if you do either of these things you can kiss your warranty goodbye. I bought a 7 year bumper to bumper on mine so I think 412 hp will be good enough... for now.
Im so glad I checked off the glass roof option when I ordered my 2011 mustang. Yea...it was an almost $2000 option, I felt i'd regret it too much if I didnt.
@g0ronchev well I haven't dynoed these cars, but I have driven all three, the ss and srt8 are larger displacement engines but the 5.0's light weight really helps launches, and the hp/tq figures are close enough as to be splitting hairs with all three. I can say this my butt dyno says the stang is faster off the line and it will break traction 1st through 4th and I might get 5th if I had had long enough streach of road.
@g0ronchev the Mustang GT puts down a little more HP (about 435 crank on average in the 5.0) and about the same TQ as the SS. The SRT8 has nothing on either.
@tedthepunk the epas is completely kick ass. it's quite responsive and delivers much more feedback that the challenger or camaro. it even corrects for road crown and crosswinds. which i thought was going to be really irritating, but the whole system is really invisible, you;d never know it had epas unless someone told you. makes for a great driving experience.
Thank you for the input, the 2011 Mustangs have been the only ones to really get my attention from a performance and (V6) mileage stand point. I love American Performance by know how important fuel economy is in city life. @burnoutradio
Isnt this really good news? Weve all been so scared about losing steering feel and such with all these EPAS systems. But the fact that we can God willing have good steering in EPAS for me is HUGE news. Especially amazing since it seems like Ford beat all the other car companies for a good EPAS with the Fiesta and Mustang:)
Lol..nice reviews guys. I also laugh at how non-California types..or basically anyone from outside of Ventura county cant say Hueneme. I'm from Ventura itself, so..its always refreshing to see my old stomping grounds.
The 5.0 seems like the 2011 Bad Ass car of the year
the only reason i dont want a mustang is because the pictured person is someone like him. beard, white, american. no offense, great car, but i think i'll stick to jdm
seriously though, it's absolutely perfect. we really harped on the car through some super rough sweepers and it does not get out of sorts. ford as done wonders with the suspension and chassis to make the live axle as good if not a bit better that it's irs counter parts.
Quick question just saw ure V6 Mustang vid and you mentioned the steering feel wasnt crazy. Did u find the Mustang GT to have better steering feel? I am a steering freak so Im wondering if the GT will give me more feedback then the V6 also how would you compare the Gt steering to the Fiesta?
@Alonshalev probaly due to aluminum block?? i was hoping to buy an S197 in the future and throw this engine and tranny into it. 412hp isnt exactly what im looking for. only time will tell what this engine is capable of.
@captian55 From reading the specs. 412hp is only available if you use the premium grade fuel. The 5.0 has 11:1 compression ratio. Just thought id comment about that on someone
@ryjohazoom i absolutely loved your roads out there. beautiful scenery, great car and wonderful roads. i'd never get anything done if i lived out there.
not sure how yall get "why - knee - me" out of hueneme, but i guess we have the same thing texas. bogota is actually pronounched bu-go-tah so...
@burnoutradio I Think it's derived from the spoken language of the local Chumash Indian tribe that was native to the Channel Islands region.
As for the gorgeous scenery.. you'd be surprised how many people from around here take it for granted. Sad that so many never leave the interstate, but in a way it means less congestion on the pretty back roads for us enthusiasts!
@burnoutradio I grew up in Camarillo, but I'm a bit farther down the coast in Carlsbad now. Let me know if you're ever in my neck of the woods with another press car. I'll introduce you to some more lovely stretches of pavement for grand touring, and to the local brew- of course not at the same time ;)
