  • We don't know what this is folks, but it's definitely Puerto Rican stuff!

  • ¡¡¡BACARDI®!!!

  • When the name the tune playing at the beginning of this clip. I know I have heard it somewhere else. Perhaps way back in the late sixties or very early seventies.

  • "Upjohn"? What's Upjohn?

  • "Then Kiss came to town!"

"These will never go out of style"

    "Are we starting over?"

    Hahahaha!

  • So you can sugar-frost your damn corn flakes you filthy american pigs!

  • "We would like to apologize to all the people of Puerto Rico we did not offend."

    Apology accepted =)

  • 5:21 "Can you dig it, can you dig it, can you dig it?" - Tom Servo

The bit about Puerto Rico being a leader in digital technology is proof that from the second the microchip was invented the electronics industry was trying to offshore manufacturing jobs.

  • RUM! WHOOOOO

  • 3:59 Then KISS came to town!

  • A CENTURY AGO!!!

  • These will NEVER go out of style! *worker packaging a stereo that has a record player AND eight-track system*

  • I wanna go to the Groovy Clothes store!

  • So if I'm getting this movie's message right...

"Come to Puerto Rico, where everything is just like it is everywhere else."

  • @VirtualBoy500 or, Puerto Rico is a safe place to come and spend money.

  • The Spainders named it Puerto Rico...

because it couldn't think of anything else.

  • @LeeCarvello1 Spaniards, you mean...

  • ...Are we starting over?

    LOL

  • here are some moo cows!

  • Narator: A skilled workforce makes Puerto Rico the largest manufacturor of many computers, and a leader in solid state technology.

Mike: Things with blinky, buttony type things.

  • @3:11 "Strawberries, marshmallows, tin foil and fudge, and some dingle bells hanging from trees~"

I don't why, but I love it when Servo (or any of them) sings out a riff along with the background music, especially when he's "dancing" while doing so.

I also have to agree with the description that this is one of the funniest shorts they've done.

  • @Moonseid Me too - when Servo sings with background music while dancing, that to me is the best! Followed by Crow, Joel, and Mike of course!

  • WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE MELODY AT THE BEGINNING OF PART 2. I'VE HEARD IT BEFORE PROBABLY WAY BACK IN THE EARLY SEVENTIES.

  • According to Wikipedia, Operation Bootstrap was "initially touted as an economic miracle" but, "by the 1960s, Operation Bootstrap was increasingly hampered by a growing unemployment problem". Cheap labor indeed. The MST3k folk did their homework!

  • Coming soon:

    PUERTO RICO FIVE-ONE!

  • I'm guessing the five non-sunny days every year involve the island being plunged into an impenetrable veil of darkness.

  • Come enjoy the music of John Phillip Salsa!

  • I love when Mike/Joel and the bots riff in unison. This is at least a nice short to watch on its own. It's not skull-suckingly boring like some movies done on this show

    *cough*Monster-A-Go-Go*cough*

  • Really, sunshine 360 days a year? Can I get a government grant to go down and study that?

  • I remember watching this the first time when I was living on the Coast Guard base in Ramey, PR. I got my dad (a Puerto Rican) to watch it. If we weren't pointing out the places we'd seen or been to, we were busting up. In a small way, I felt connected to MST3K as more than a viewer.

I felt even more connected years later after learning my maternal grandfather actually knew Ross Allen. Not something I'm proud of, but still, six degrees of separation or something like that...

    Um... PROGRESS!!!

  • @dacianavamp

Charlie Sheen's new phrase should be "Duh, Progress!"

  • at 2:33 i can't believe they didn't say:

    "hullo lavoine...hullo shoil..."

  • We don't know what this is, folks, but it's definitely Puerto Rico stuff.

  • I wonder what they sell at Groovy Clothes? Probably tacos or dishwashers or something....

  • Crow: we call it Cheap Laborville.

Mike @ the record player: These will never go out of style.

  • Like walking or holding a racket

  • Then KISS came to town!

  • "When Judy Garland died it destroyed Puerto Rico's economy."

  • DRINKING RUM CONSTANTLY. Sounds reasonable to me, and I'm helping the economy.

  • "We would like to apologize to all of the people of Puerto Rico we didn't offend..."

  • Rum! Wooooohoooo yeah! Wooo!

  • In most of their sketches that make fun of the US left and right as much as anyone else, and I feel that within their jokes they do expose the "businessy and exploitative corperateness" the original version of the short contained. "here comes the hardsell" "oh another fun friend" in their sarcastic response to texaco.

    In the lighter side.

the quote that crackes me up

    "im not speaking to you."

  • Puerto Rico, extortion capital for global industries, and where a government not its people can grow extensively rich through lending its land to US and global industries for cheap labour, while destroying its natural beauty.

    hmmm...money really does talk.

other than that, funny short indeed.

  • The music of John Philip Salsa...lol

So you can sugar frost your damm Cornflakes, filthy American Pigs lmao

  • Here are some moo-cows.

  • I don't know why but I now have the desire to make myself a Mojito.

  • Lucky. When I had this up, I got called a racist.

  • @TheBeardOfPower Nothing racist about it. I'm from PR and found it hysterical ^_^

  • @japanrican1969 Tell that to the people who got on my case for it.

  • @TheBeardOfPower Kind of sad that people tried label you racist because of putting up a video with some generally light hearted ribbing of Puerto Rico - I mean it's all clearly in jest, if people want to see racism in it that is just sad.

  • @634devil How is this short racist? The MST3K guys make fun of everything. EVERYTHING. So people need to stop being so touchy.

  • @TheBeardOfPower Meh, MST3K can do no wrong. BTW PROGRESS!!

  • @japanrican1969

Totally agree. It's called "Humor" and people who get offended by this obviously don't understand it. I love shorts like this one or "A Date With Your Family" or "Cheating" or "Uncle Jim's Dairy Farm" with their awesome sarcasm. Some people need to lighten up. Old school style.

  • "Then KISS came to town" haha god i miss this show. thanks goodness for dvds

  • Crow: When Judy Garland died it destroyed Puerto Rico's economy.

I laughed so hard just then! LOL!!!

  • ... Like flights out!

  • She's plucking her chin hairs!

  • I agree with you hebosmith....this is one of there more funny Shorts : }

"Days of our Years" is amost as funny at this....very close.

    Thanks for posting!!!

  • "so you can sugar frost your damn corn flakes, you filfthy American pigs!"

    "so drink rum constantly!"

"and then KISS came to town!...we dont know what this is folks, but it's definetly Puerto Rico stuff"

"Are we starting over?" (i was wondering the same thing!)

"because we have no regard for history, culture or tradition"

  • @purpleshamrock17 WHAT ? !

  • The word "digital" existed in the 1960s?

  • !!!GAMBLING!!!

  • !!!A CENTURY AGO!!!
