Thanks for the video I'm going to make one of the simple jet stoves 2moro have been looking for a way to get my pack even lighter and this looks like a fun way to do it maby I'll try this design soon if every thing goes well tomorrow really cool again thanks for the video !!!
I've seen the Jolt cans many times at the store and thought it could be made into a stove, but thanks to your creativeness, you proved it can be done and done very well. Great job!
It is almost a simple build, anyone can do this I have plans for a how to video in building a few different types of stoves I have made and shown in the past, and this will be one of them. Thanks for the compliment and comment and I am happy you enjoyed the video!
It does! Its in the making right now, few more weeks of trials and a few more odd ends to tie up to see if some ideas work or not. Try it and see what you come up with!
the bottom of th eouter can is upside down? if yest it makes it easier to get the upper part over it! Very spiffy. Betwixt you and zelph, terrafirma, benniblueyes and tinny I have learned so much. There are so many people doing this now there are lots of good ones and many boring ones.
Well Thank you for your comment and compliment! It means a lot when I hear of how these videos have helped others in the adventure of building there own gear. There are a lot of videos out there on this subject, many not as interesting but I have learned everyone has a style of their own and we can learn from everyone something, Sometimes it is just a little thing in the video then the light bulb cuts on in my head and Im off to the shop to experiment some more!
You can glue it together but I prefer not to, I have however used the aluminum tape to hold it all together. Works great for me but everyone has their own ways!
It is a lot harder to blow out then meets the eye, due to the air intake the best way to put this stove out is by a snuffer cap. Blowing on it after the air intake holes are shut sometimes works.
With most alcohol stoves I have made or used the ones with multiple jets are a one temp heat source. This one shown here is adjustable, I have experimented with jets and tried to build an adjustable with jets but all failed. The only way a stove of this design will work is with a large burn port on the top. Each style of stoves has pros and cons to them.
Hey Drak, So nice to have flame control that you and Josh have come up with with out really adding to weight. as always super soundtrack. guess I need to move to the sea.
These are one of my favorite stoves, They come in handy with a group or just solo trips. The CD used for the background music is one that I use to meditate to. Glad you enjoyed!
I have collected a few aluminum bottles to make my first alcohol stove pretty soon. that type seems simple enough, thanks for sharing all your vids and ideas.
I like it, Drak! Easy enough to make, effective, and light. I hope I was of a touch of assistance, but you would have figured out the aor-flow issue yourself. Only reason I had a clue was because of my trial and error procedures. Maybe try a taller version of what I used with my trangia knockoff? Just an idea. Great build, of course you know will have to make one for my own use..... What's the fuel capacity? Peace.
Josh you were a big help in this project! You made me look in places at the stove design and see what I was missing. The little bugger still holds 1.3 oz of fuel! Did you also notice the adjustment area, that idea was one I stole from your design. the opening cut where the tube is. I hope to see yours soon. Take Care
This is awesome!

What's the advantages with a single large burner to about 2 dozen smaller holes drilled in the side?

wow great stove and vid! So the adjustment screw just pulls the band over the holes and adjusts the air flow into the stove body?
ridinmabike 3 years ago
Thanks, and your right about the air flow! You can go from a boil to a simmer.

Oh okay, given its amazing flame control I thought it should be more complicated :-)
