I was just picking the strings with the slide up really close to the bridge over the pickups, and sliding up and down. watch the blue guitar carefully and you'll see it. play with it a little and you'll get the chirping sound. just be sure to mute the strings you don't want sounding with your palm and keep the duration of each "chirp" short
I wasn't holding down any frets - I had a metal slide on my left hand, which I moved up past the fretboard over the body. Imagine if the fretboard continued, it would be around the 30th-40th frets. Try placing the slide a couple inches away from the bridge, and pluck the high E or B string. Then, move the slide up and down slowly. It's really not that hard, just keep playing with it.
Some people use the slide with their right hand (not using the left at all) and press down on the higher strings with the slide, again, over the body, but I prefer having more control and a sharper sound with the pick
