I hosed a guy with CS-OC once and it took the fight right out of him. Also used Fox Labs 5.3 once and it also worked wonderfully. If you know how to use pepper spray it can be highly effective. If you just buy a can of mace from a store and then depend on it to save your butt, then your headed for trouble. Get training, and use a top quality spray like Fox Labs, DPS, or Sabre Red. Then try to take an OC training class. Check with your local PD. They will point you in the right direction.

I don't know about Hot Walkers pepper spray, but Fox Labs and Cold Steel make the best pepper sprays and can temporarily disable an attacker for 20 to 30 minutes, enough time to get away. It may be that way in Australia. But in America, the law takes into consideration who (maybe a women, elderly, handicapped person) is being attacked and if they believe their life is threatened.
Lets say, maybe 3 or 4 gang members are jacking you. If you feel, your life is threatened, you can use lethal force.
Just don't let them, get you to "reconsider" you situation after the fact.
Then let me spray some on you and see if you can still fight. With the proper pepper spray, you will be totally helpless for 20 to 30 minutes, enough time for the victim to get away. There's no 100% guarantee that it will save your life, but it's a heck of a lot better than nothing, and it has saved a lot of lives, so don't discount it so fast ...
